  1. I had once landed a fish close to your description in the back of a channel that ran into a large spring fed lake. It was very silverish with yellow accents on certain parts of its body with a visibly black lateral line. I hadn't a clue as to what it was, but since my grandfather was in the boat, he explained, "When I was a kid we used to call them suckers." It was a surprise for me because I didn't think something like that would bite a 7 inch zoom lizard! So I'm wondering if that is what you caught. If I caught it on that large of a lure, then I'm sure you can catch it on something similar. I'm from Maine and was fishing the Sheepscot Pond (more of a lake... 1000 acres)
  2. I would just pitch or flip instead of making long casts
  3. Definitely try some out, however I am in love with white. Just the fact that I can see It coming through the water, then completely disappear when I get a hit makes it good enough in itself, however In really stained water, firetiger works fairly decent. Give them a try!
  4. Did it once, and Im never doing it again. The smell is terrible, and the baits didnt even look good becuase my mold ended up being crap. I am going to buy professionally made molds and go use my grill which has a burner on the side which is located on my back deck.
  5. I have dug around in the forums and only find solutions for cheap plastics. I am looking for some names of baits that come in packs of about 10 or more. Most plastics come in 5pk or 6pk. I enjoy having an abundance of lures so I don't run out when Im on the water. Any solutions? Im talking like 10pk for under $5. Thanks in advance! Edit: I am not looking to buy in bulk because it is too much of a hassle.
  6. Man I wish I was fortunate enough to have a bass boat. I can only dream about that much of a convenience. I have a little 10 foot aluminum boat, and Im thankful for that. I only take what I need because I like to have room to move around.
  7. I dont really like to fish colors that look un-natural to the area im fishing. I always stick with dark reds, blues and blacks. If im landing 20 fish a day on those colors, I find no reason to switch!
  8. KVD Sexy Dawg New Spro Frogs ( never threw them before) New Jigs (never pitched or flipped really) New KVD sexy shad swimbait GOD I WANT SPRING ALREADY!
  9. I replaced some of mine with red/black VMC's in sizes 2, 4, and 6
  10. I thought It was just me but holy crap youre right! I had some of the swimbaits that come with those weird hooks, and they actually melted, and caused others to become disfigured!
  11. -Zoom Flukes ( white and white with chart.) -Stick baits (Dingers, Yamamoto etc) -Soft toads(Horny toads etc) -Tubes -LIZARDS LIZARDS LIZARDS (if in spawning season) -Crawfish (Missile Baits D-Bomb,others) -YOUR FAVORITES
  12. I have learned that I do NOT need to carry everything I own with me. When I started getting serious about fishing I bought the biggest tackle boxes I could, and now looking back I realize it was a mistake. Firstly, I could even fit all my stuff in it, and secondly, it was bulky. Now I use the rectangular snap shut cases that can fit several jerkbaits, cranks, jigs, and other things I need. I only take 2-3 of each plastic bait to cut down on weight. I would advise you not to put soft plastics together if they are extremely different. I had some together multiple times thinking that It would be fine, but the colors mix, and some of my lures actually got deformed and hard, and even melted. Thats no good
  13. I have directv as well and there is pretty much no coverage of fishing shows. I enjoy river monsters on Animal Planet, and Wicked tuna on History I believe, but thats about it. I had to order NESN and the Sportsman channel just to get a few 30 minute shows about fishing, and half the time they are about crappie and other species I dont go after. hmmmmmm
  14. Really appreciate all the suggestions guys! I have narrowed it down to: New Bionic Rods from BPS Berkeley Shock Rods ( maybe buy 2 of em ) Abu Vendetta or Veritas Thanks!
  15. Looking to buy a rod when I go down to Florida this April. I am flying express, so I cant take my 7' rods because they are all one piece. Shipping them Via UPS or FedX is too expensive for both ways. I figured I could save money by buying a rod in Florida and leaving it there with my cousin when I leave. I am looking for: -Casting Rod -under $75 -6'6" to 7' -Micro guides Thats all the basics that I need. I will be pairing up the rod with a Daiwa Viento. I will be throwing: -Plastics -Small/Medium Cranks -Small/Medium Jerks -Spooks I am wondering what action I should get... MH or H I want to be able to cast fairly large baits, so any help would be great. -Ill also be doing some salt fishing as well....
