"Hook 'N' Look"
This past Hook n' Look show with the spawning smallmouth was awesome. It gives you an idea that the fish do indeed know how to get back to there nests to protect the eggs. It would be cool if they could take this a step further and actually place a tracking device in the smallmouth and bring it to some other bay like during a tournament and release the fish from a whole new area. I would like to see if or how long it would take the smallmouth to find it's nest. I seen ESPN with those tracking devices on their shows.

Kinami vs Yamamoto
Raul, I read a lot of different things on this subject. For me, it's a confidence thing, like most fishermen. I have more confidence in fishing with GYCB and had more success with them.

What's your go-to line brand?
Sufix. I hope they decide to make Flourocarbon soon.

One piece of advice
I would say you should start as a co-angler and build confidence doing that. While you are a co-angler, you will need to pay attention to the pro running the boat and see how he uses certain techniques and when he uses them. You can usually ask him things and he will be gracious enough to tell you things. Stay focused on the water during the tournament otherwise the time will fly by and you will have nothing in the livewell.

Kinami vs Yamamoto
I thought the same thing. There is a difference in the two baits. For example, the Kinami brand usually lasts longer but catches less fish as the Yamamoto Custom Senkos. The same colors are actually different when held up side by side also.

BassResouce Fantasy Fishing Contest
Hello, I couldn't find a post about the Fantasy Bass league thing we have going on for B.A.S.S. so I decided to post here. I just wanted to let everyone know, that I just received my Falcon Rod "Cara" for coming in 2nd place overall from B.A.S.S. in Fantasy Bass Fishing. I got 606 points during the BassMaster Memorial and first place had 624 and won some crap that I wouldn't of wanted anyways, so I'm glad I got second. I've always used St. Croix's and will continue to do so, but this rod looks nice and I will find a use for it, possibly a door stopper, no, kidding. I'm thinking of purchasing a new reel now but need to figure out what this poles purpose will be come tourney time.

your truck
Maybe initially - but a typical diesel will outlast a gas engine three to one or better; also the maintenance costs are somewhat lower, so over the life of the truck the diesel will cost less. Also the resale value of a diesel is higher than a gas engine. Also even though diesel fuel is more expensive (this week) the increased economy usually offsets that. Diesels have three main advantages over gas: Since its a more efficient engine a diesel will get better mileage; they have much higher torque (about twice what a comparable gas engine has); and since they turn slower and have fewer parts they last longer. The downsides are the higher initial cost, increased strain on other components (trannie, drivetrain) from the higher torque, plus they just plain stink. The newer engines aren't noisy like the earlier ones were. I was only talking about the initial cost and not how long they last. For me, personally, I don't like having anything over 5 years old. So having a Diesel for it's longivity doesn't really suit my needs. Diesel fuel is always more expensive around here. (Minnesota)

your truck
I own a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LT (gas) and normal everyday driving I get between 14-16mpg. When pulling a boat that weighs around 2500-3000lbs, I get 10-12mpg. I would say go to a Duramax Diesel. You will pay a little more for the fuel put you will be saving in the long run. It all really depends on how much you are pulling a boat compared to everyday driving. You will pay a lot more for a Diesel engine over a gas engine. So your gonna have to put that into play. If your pulling a boat more than your doing anything with the truck, get a Diesel. If your just driving everday to work and such and not towing much with it, I would say use a gas truck. No point of getting a Diesel if your not using it for what it's basically made for, Towing.

Sponsorship Do's & Don'ts
Well I think Marcia gained a lot of fans from this site when the Women's Tour starts up. If it hasn't already started.

Lower Unit Oil Change
Ben, I read someplace that if you put the vent plug in before you fill the oil, you will have air bubbles and as far as I know, that would NOT be a good thing.
-
Lower Unit Oil Change
Thats crazy, it just seems like you would tilt the motor up to put the oil in. Seems like it would come pouring out just as fast as you put it in.

Marcia Rubins Resume---Something different :-)
Forget about sponsoring you. I want to marry you.

Lower Unit Oil Change
I read on how to change the Lower Unit Oil myself, but one of my questions is. At what angle do you put the motor when your filling the oil back into the drain/fill hole. Do you put the motor straight horizontal? Then you stop when it starts coming out the vent hole.

How do you get the boat to the lake?
I thought Dodge uses Mitsubishi motors which comes from overseas... right or wrong? My sister once owned a '99 Dodge Avenger and right when you open the hood, the front plate on the motor said MITSUBISHI. Half of that d**n car was foreign made. I think the only true american made vehicles are Ford and GM.

Pick my fishing spot - w/ picture
I would pound the western bank where all the colors are together. I would hit it with tubes, crankbaits and jigs around the stumps. Outside turn of a river with all that cover and ambush points, I can't see how you can go wrong just going up and down that west bank. I like the part with the rocks, then stumps, all in deep water.

Bill Dance handling fish
What? If a Big Female is on a Bed, she still has the eggs inside her, she hasn't spawned. After a female lays the eggs, she leaves and the little males come in and protect the young. If someone comes and catches a young male nest protector, another male bass comes in to replace the other one that left. Thats just how the process works under the water for bass. Out of those thousands of eggs, you only need about 10 to survive anyways.

Bill Dance handling fish
If Bill Dance was in a CATFISH TOURNAMENT with a guy by the name of JAMES "BIG CATFISH" PATTERSON... Do you REALLY think Bill Dance had ANYTHING to do with the win in these tournaments? I would give 95% of the credit to a guy with the nickname of "BIG CATFISH" when fishing in a tournament for, hmmm, CATFISH.

Largemouth Bass State Records
US Record or World Record? I know they fish in Japan, what is Japans biggest bass or the biggest bass in Europe. Just because we have 22-1oz bass, does that make it the World Record or just the US Record? Serious Question, Serious Answer Please.
