  1. I personally use 12lb mono for my baitcasters. All depends on what you are using your setup for. If you are just starting to learn, I would try 12lb or 14lb mono. It is cheap and if you backlash, you can respool without having to spend too much money
  2. Congrats on the new reel!!! That Steez is one fine looking reel.
  3. Wowwww...looks nice. Please report back to how it does.
  4. The Curado G is still a great reel. Don't let the E purists scare you away
  5. Thanks for the report. Too bad my last cast is usually 20 more casts ;P God forbid if I catch one...because I have to get another cast in then.
  6. When a possible $50,000 fish is on the other end of the line you best believe I will high-stick to get the fish in the boat
  7. +1 This works well for me.
  8. Basically anywhere in Florida for me. It's like cheating.
  9. Sharing fishing with your gf is awesome! I would suggest doing some fun fishing first like catching panfish which is guaranteed. Then work your way up
  10. +1 On the Cortland Master Braid!!! Love it.
  11. Yep, I like the way the reel is designed. Some of the other reels are a little cumbersome to adjust the centrifugal braking system.
  12. I basically buy some new spools of Trilene when the fishing season is about to start. Cortland Master Braid for any reels that I use braid on.
  13. Welcome to the boards!
  14. Haha, that is awesome! Revenge can be sooo sweet sometimes
  15. Great setup Fish don't care what you paid Tight lines.
  16. +1 definitely the two jigs weights that are my go to.
  17. Yep getting skunked is terrible....gotta pay the dues though.
  18. Awesome! More competition is always better for consumers Maybe we'll see some new products and better pricing!
  19. Congratulations!! It is always nice when you something works out. Your hardwork has definitely paid off.
  20. +1 All my spinning reels are spooled with 14lb Fireline or 15lb PP. The lines definitely break way above their ratings so I don't really worry too much.
  21. Hahahaha. Shimano taking the extra step to make sure your parts get there safely I must say though Shimano has some quality service. Especially on reels with their Platinum Warranty (i.e., Stella SW5000). They take care of their customers
  22. Overstock.com is legit. I have bought everything from furniture to sunglasses to clothes and fishing gear. The reels are sometimes cheaper, but not always. I usually end up picking up a used one and saving myself the money. But no worries if you are ordering from them.
  23. +1 to the drop shot technique. This definitely works well in colder waters.
