Is there a better way to hold a bass for photo?
Hanging a heavy fish vertically by the jaw puts a lot of stress of the internal organs and should be avoided whenever possible. Although many would not agree with me, you also should not photograph the fish by pushing it toward the camera to make the fish appear bigger in relation to the person holding it than it really is.

Best Place to Sell A Custom Boat
I recently sold a custom built jon/jet boat through a dealer. He took a 15% commission but I still got more than I would have gotten. Used boats were in short supply. The dealer had nothing and was happy to have something to sell.

Proper Way to weigh a bass?
The easiest way is the way the majority of fishermen do it. Hoist up that 13 inch bass and say, ah..another 3 pounder!

Aluminum Boat Add-ons
What add-ons should you get are totally dependent on what you are going to use the boat for, the type of fishing you do and your budget.

Does anyone else feel like they catch more quantity in current but more quality off of rock banks in slower moving water?
DO NOT ever pass by a lay down. They are usually bass magnets. One big tree can hold several fish. It’s a spot to stop and try to pick apart. Just like largemouth fishing. It’s often worth all the effort to get as many casts as you can tight to the branches without getting hung up. Spots like that is when you have to change to baits that you can work without getting snagged. Some days, that’s the pattern that pays, other times, not so much. You are learning that bass don’t always follow strict rules. Break lines can also set up where the fast water passes directly over an underwater eddie. Fast, frothy current may hide an underwater boulder that a bass can sit behind out of the current and watch for food to pass over head.

Too much tackle…what would you use?
The biggest mistake many unsuccessful fishermen make is that they think the secret to catching bass is picking the right lure or the right color to use. The secret is putting the lure properly in front of active fish. If you already have tackle boxes full of popular lures and aren’t catching, buying more lures isn’t going to change that.

When using medium to deep diving crankbaits do you use a snap? Or snap swivel ? Do you just tie directly to the bait?
If I think I may be trying several different baits and colors, I’ll use a snap, but never a swivel. If I don’t think I’ll be changing baits much, I’ll tie direct. I do prefer baits with oval split rings so my line doesn’t wind up in the gap.

Gluing swimbait to hook
I use the Locktite super glue gel also. I’ll usually set up a few at home where I can do it carefully, getting the bait lined up correctly and give it some time to dry. Trying to do it in the boat usually sees me glueing the bait to my fingers.

There are those who believe the economy is going the other way. Boats new and used are in short supply. What do they say about a bird in the hand? ………..

Fishing on holiday weekends?
As I type this, it’s the Saturday before Memorial Day just past 4 in the afternoon. I’m sitting on the deck of the cabin I’ve been renting for the last week watching the endless parade of boats moving back and forth between the lake I’m on and the connecting lakes. We fished from 8 this morning until 1. Morning traffic on other parts of the lake where the best fishing is isn’t bad at all. After lunch at the end of the lake where my cabin is, it’s too hard to find places to fish without boats, jet skies, or skiers. Lake is pretty churned up now. Tomorrow morning will be a good time to fish again.

Direct tie from this day forward.
If you are going to use a clip on a spinner bait, you have to have a bait with a closed loop to connect to.

waiting for winter to end so i can fish again
I’m on a fishing trip in northern Wisconsin right now. The weather here has been great except for the high winds, rain and cold! Temps today were 40 degrees colder than just 2 days ago.

Selling a boat question
The dealer who sold it for me had no boats in stock and couldn’t get any for a while. He was also out of used boats. Very happy to get mine and got top dollar for it. All I had to do was drop it off and he did the rest including fixing a couple of minor issues. I didn’t have to advertise it, deal with potential buyers who want to get it for next to nothing or be concerned about bad checks. I had my money in just a few weeks.

Selling a boat question
Right now, boats are in short supply. Before you decide on a price, check on the supply of new and used boats in your area. I just sold a used boat through a dealer that I paid a 15% commission to and got a couple of thousand more than I would have asked even after I paid the commission
