  1. Didn’t have any shop classes at my high school, 4 years of math, & science. I was lucky that I learned about electrical, plumbing and heating systems on the job. I’ve repaired my furnace, replaced disposal, hot water heater, kitchen faucets, and light fixtures. Added ceiling fans upstairs and electrical outlets in the basement. My on the job training and tools also allowed me to do all the electrical work on my boats over the years. It sure is nice not having to rely on outside contractors to do all the minor repairs around the house that creep up.
  2. Usually if a creek goes from clear to stained, it’s because of a good rain which also makes the current run faster. Faster current will keep your bait from getting to the bottom as easy. Could this be what happened?
  3. I’m in Illinois but we are not under lockdown. We are free to move about as long as we keep our distance from others. Grocery stores, restaurant carry out, and gas stations are all open. A stay at home order is not the same as a lockdown.
  4. I’ve had similar issues for many years with my hips. After being in one position for any length of time, it would always hurt for a few minutes when I’d get up. After moving around, I feel fine. My doctor told me it was just arthritis. He told me, more exercise would help. Sorry to say, I couldn’t tell you if his suggestion made any difference.

If dropping it in the water is a possibility, make sure to have it tethered to you. Being waterproof won’t help if the water is too deep to retrieve it.
  6. The bird that laid the egg that became the first chicken, may not have been a chicken...but that first chicken, was hatched...FROM AN EGG!
  7. About the only good thing that will come from all of this, I hope, is that people will realize that the hoarding wasn’t necessary. There is no shortage on the supply side, just no way to refill the shelves as quickly as those who’ve been panicking are emptying them.
  8. Today I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon. Ill let you know.....
  9. All sites covered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are closed to the public.

I haven’t check the market lately but cameras that are waterproof, those can can be submerged without damage, are not cheap. An alternative is to buy a cheap camera and put it in a waterproof storage case. A case that lets you use the camera while it’s still in the case is an option too, but again, those aren’t cheap.
  11. I’m screwed because I can’t visit my dying mother at her nursing home, I’m screwed because my wife’s office shut down putting her out of work for who knows how long. I’m screwed because the idiot hoarders are cleaning out the shelves in the grocery store. Closing the state parks isn’t much of an inconvenience at all.
  12. Don’t forget the extra $5.54 you’ll pay if you pay online for your two trailers like I did.
  13. I haven’t been out lately but some guys in my smallmouth club have been catching them all winter here in Northern Illinois rivers. Ned rigs and suspending jerkbaits have been the baits that were working.
  14. It looks like you’ll need to find a custom canvas shop.
  15. How much money you got? By cost, the best is going to run you around $1,600 for just one combo. The definition of “best” changes depending what your budget is.
  16. Knowing what part of the country you are in might help.
  17. Instead of looking for magic baits, have you tried different depths, speed of retrieval, different bottom content, different water, different sizes or different colors?
  18. I’m in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago and yesterday in my neighborhood it’s $2.21 (Will County)
  19. Seriously? Almost $5,000 for a kayak? For money like that it at least should be equipped with an electric motor, a battery. and a trailer to move a 150 pound boat. And, you still have to buy electronics.
  20. Did everyone run out at the same time? This is my local WalMart.
  21. I never wacky rig, and I never use weights when using Senkos. Weights destroy the slow fall and wacky rigging keeps them from being weedless and takes away the jerk bait action I like. 4 and 5 inch are my preferred sizes for T rigging them.
  22. I fail to understand the run on toilet paper. Can anyone explain that to me? I was at a Sams Club this morning. They put out a stack of TP in 48 roll packs. The mountain of it was gone in minutes. People had 10 packs in their carts. What are they going to do with nearly 500 rolls? Is there a danger that Charmin will stop making the stuff? While I’m at it, why are people hoarding hand sanitizer? If I bought it all up the people I’m trying to protect myself from won’t be able to have any. There aren’t even any reported case anywhere near me!
  23. I’ve been married over 40 years with no children. Back when we first got married, I was a golfer who played on weekends. Sometimes, I’d leave on Friday night, and not come back from golfing until Sunday. She had no problem with that. When I took up fishing, she had no problem with me buying a boat. She wasn’t the least bit interested in fishing but NEVER had a problem with me going without her. Understand that when I went fishing, it usually meant week long vacations all over North America. Once, she and I were getting ready for a fall vacation to Myrtle Beach (before I knew there was a hurricane season) A hurricane shut down the beach so we shifted gears and I took her to Northern Wisconsin. She fell in love with the woods and waters and even fishing. She and I spent many weeks in Canada, Minnesota and Wisconsin fishing and enjoying the outdoors, while I continued doing other trips with my fishing buddies. When my female co-workers would hear I was going on a fishing trip without my wife they said they’d never let their husbands go away without them. I guess I got pretty lucky finding a woman who understood and was happy to let me pursue my hobby even if I did it without her for weeks at a time.
  24. Get some sort of a wading staff to test the bottom before you step. Wear a life jacket too.
