  1. I'm considering it! I just rather have something to fish medium to shallow water!
  2. I've been looking at this exact rod, CBR845C, but I have a friend that has one and says it has just a little TOO much flex, which might worry me if I'm fishing heavy cover. I've looked at the Dobyns Champion Cranking rods, and I would be willing to go with that, but it seems to be more of a deep cranking rod. I've been looking at the St. Croix Avid Cranking rod, but still can't decide!
  3. Thanks for the welcome! You're the first to say it, much appreciated. Yeah I would be doing medium driving at the most, but I do want bottom contact with my baits. I have another BC reel--Abu Garcia Revo SX that I need to replace the rod and I haven't decided what technique specific I want to go with that one yet. I do know I want to set up the chronarch for crankbaits and jerkbaits. Just too many options!
  4. I haven't really looked at St. Croix much, but I'll take a look. I was also looking at the *** ***, or the MegaBass XX.
  5. Hey guys thanks for asking me to clear it up. I would like a good shallow cranking rod, but something I could use overall for cranking. Not looking to buy a ton of rods... I feel like 4 is enough already. Practically a rod mostly for crankbait fishing, but also jerk baits, maybe spinnerbaits. The depth would be for shallow to medium depth at max!
  6. Hey guys, I wanted to know your input on a great rod for crankbait fishing under $300. I will be pairing it with a new Chronarch 201E6. I have been Looking at G Loomis Crankbait Rods and the Crankbait GL2, but I'm open for oth brands. I have never had a G Loomis, but hear great things, so I am leaning toward these. Open to any suggestions on other brands and sizes. Thanks.
  7. I've only used 832 so far, but I will soon buy the Power Pro.
  8. I don't understand Wat the point of line conditioner is? Isn't it better to just buy a more expensive, better quality line, than to buy a less expensive one and have to treat it.
  9. What leader and how much leader should a person be tying on, if they plan to use one? How about for the different braid lines and paring with FC? Always use a smaller FC line?
  10. Tied on 15lbs on a 50lb braid as a leader for jig fishing... Gonna test it out Thursday. Hope it holds up.
  11. Rapala knot for cranks.
  12. I bought 7 of them in all colors and types... Haven't caught anything on them yet... Maybe it's because I don't fish them with confidence... Too afraid of losing one haha.
  13. Hey guys, if I want to buy braided line, say 50lbs, would size leader should I use? I have 8, 10, and 15lb FC, and 20lb Mono. Any of these good or should I buy another size? This is for jig fishing!
  14. Not to sound like a broken record, but the *** is probably the best rod for $100. I have a a Veritas and a Clarus. The Clarus is awesome, the Veritas is a piece of junk... The line guides on it are a piece of junk. I plan to buy the *** to pair it with my new Shimano Chronarch. 7'1 Medium ***, boom.
  15. I have used the Red Label on spinning reels, and baitcaster reels... It just has too much memory in my opinion. I usually tie on 10lb for crankbaits and plastics, and I fish about 1-2 a week, and it still had too much memory. Any suggestions on a fluorocarbon line with less memory that's not too hard on the pockets?
  16. Definitely don't use WD-40... It's too low in viscosity. Oil will disappear shortly after using it a couple of times. I use Ardent Reel Butter Bearing Lube. Take the bearing out. Clean them, and then put a couple of drops on them, then after about 15 minutes, set them down on a paper towel and let it soak up the excess oil. You don't want excess oil getting in places it doesn't need to be, plus extra oil will just cause dirt to stick. I re oiled my bearings on a brand new Shimano Chronarch, before even using it, and the spool has such a better free spool. It's because the factory sends reels with excess lubricant because they know most people won't do the proper maintenance they need. Just my $0.02
  17. Interesting to see how many people are right hand dominant, but use their left hand for fishing. I'm the same way, I never heard of anyone else being the same way. I think it just comes natural to cast with your right hand, use your dominant hand for spool control, and using it again to set the hook. I feel like you lose so much time switching a hands any other way.
  18. I bought one, among with the BassPro insurance and it became useless after the 2 year insurance. This rod is great, and I love the weight distribution, but it just doesn't seem to last that long. The handle started to chip, and the line guides bent easily. The first 2 line guides are destroyed on my Veritas.... And I only used fluorocarbon on this rod. I didn't even fish with it that much, and I was very careful with it. The *** is a way better rod for the price range.
  19. Shimano Chronarch 200e6 for not only crankbaits, but a more versatile reel. If you are going to strictly use crankbaits, I would say to go with a Chronarch 200e5. They go for $200 but are well worth the money.
