  1. Love the Major League format. No info, no idea, here's the lake, take 15 minutes then time starts. Go get um. Gotta agree with Tom, it's entertaining. Also like Ultimate Match Fishing. See how the pro in the back goes about figuring out how to catch fish missed by the guy in the front. But there are still penty of fishing shows on. All are going to have sponsors and baits figured in. Just have to put that off to the side and focus on the tactic and technique less the particular brand of bait thrown.
  2. Have several, for me shallow would be less then 3ft of water, so I would say the new SK shallow 1.5, Manns Baby 1 minus, and then one that I don't see thrown very often, the Heddon Swimming Image. These three baits I can fish shallow over grass, (not fishing them as a wakebait) and all have different actions.
  3. I'd have to agree, PB came on a swimbait in the middle of the day. But around here they are thrown quite a bit fall through spring, just not very often in July.
  4. Maybe they are making sure it works properly. Got to give them time to clean it up and repack it after testing and inspecting it's performance.
  5. I think I'd have to agree with most, with a simple no thank you. I'm gonna stick with what I fish with.
  6. If you want to do battle with matt bass in the weeds, well you're going to have to play the game. Braided line #1, you're rod if you choose to keep using it will work but I do punch and flip a lot of grass and mine's a moderate action 7'11" Quantum with a 8:1 *** reel spooled with braid. The moderate action helps keep the fish pinned as well as pull that fish out of the grass or whatever heavy cover it happens to be in. It's not finesse fishing, it's tug a war. Make sure you have the right gear to play that game or you're going to loose more then you win.
  7. Rage Bug, DB Craw, Rodent (both sizes) Paca Craw Jr, Biffle Bugs(all 3), VM Hula Bug....all depends on what the fish want but each work under different conditions.
  8. Hey you fish for a paycheck, every minute counts. Fun fishing hey take your time.....fishing for hundreds of thousands of dollars, I'm sure most would have no problem horsing fish into the boat ASAP (if you can with the tackle you're fishing of course)
  9. I only fish a handful of frogs Spro Bronze eye shad.....nasty shad color Deps Slither Frog........black And then there are the main players from Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog.....Freds Frog and Smoke Ish's Phat and Poppin Phattie.......... Sexy Ish, Black, Cristyl, Freds Frog, and Platinum Go to frog would be the Phat frog in Platium. No need for any other frogs other then maybe the small LT Field mouse (1/4oz size)
  10. $100 each for 2 10" Triple Trout swimbaits. Haven't gotten the window to thow them this year with my work schedule and they way the fish were biting I have't really fished any swimbaits this year. But fall is right around the corner.
  11. I'm with Tom and Rolo, check it first. See if it has a rough feel and any memory, the line tests they talked about and if it's questionable then toss it. Backing is always another way to use it as well.
  12. I used to use Big Game all the time before braid. Never had an issue with this line. But if you're trying to compare a flurocarbon to a mono, it's going to be a little less sensitive. Long distances you may loose some feel, but shorter say 25yrd applications I wouldn't think there would be much. Catt fishes this a lot, so you might want to send him a message and ask his opinion.
  13. If I need a 1/4oz frog I go with the smallest Live Target frog or field mouse depending one conditions. Both have really soft bodys and good hook up ratio's. Frog floats better in open water, mouse walks better but takes water on in open water quicker but is great in lighter grass.
  14. X 3. Their H20 series. They have two I believe, one that is 7' and the other 7'6", And you can crank with straight braid, just make sure you back the drag off some so you don't rip hooks out.
  15. I can't say how big the fish was I missed this last Monday fishing, but I do know it was a nice one. I had already gotten 2 nice fish, one that was somewhere in the 4.5lb range (that's the last number I saw on the scale before she decided it was time to go). Pitched my bait into a weedbed and noticed the line pick up and start moving. Awesome, love it when they eat it on the drop. Clicked my reel in gear and the line came tight, set the hook, felt solid and then gone. Did I break her off, nope. Brought my punch weight and skirt in, no structure bug and a bent out 4/0 Gamma Flipping hook with 2 scales attached. That was a first. All I can say was it felt solid, and much heavier then either of the 2 fish earlier that day or the 3 from the day before which also included one over 4.5lbs. Maybe it was a faulty hook, but still makes me wonder how big she was to bend out that flipping hook.
  16. I use the Alberto. All my rods are braid to leaders. Use it on all of them. In the beginning I had a few issues with the knot slipping due to my own error and not taking time to make sure the knot was correct. Now the only issue with line breaking is if I get a kink in the fc and don't catch it in time. Believe I use 8-10 wraps up and back down. Also put a couple half hitches in the braid once the knot is clinched down. Make sure when pulling them tight you pull on both ends of the mono or FC as you tighten up on the braid. This allows the braid to cinch down. Once tight I'll pull on the mono/FC leader and make sure it's snug...then couple half hitches on the braid, trim and fish. IF YOUR KNOT LOOKS QUESTIONALBE RE-TIE. If I don't like it or feel it doesn't look right I'm not going to fish it, I'll cut it off and re-tie. Took a good 6 months of constant tying that knot to get to where I can do it quickly. Take your time looking at how you're tying it rather then looking for a different knot.
  17. City parks in the Los Angeles and Orange County area of S. Cal almost all have double digit fish in them. Most you can walk around in less then 5 min. Some maybe 10min. They owe their size to the state for stocking those 8-10" trout all winter for the most part. But they are small, hold sizable fish in numbers but may not be the easiest to catch. So yes small bodies of water can produce large fish. My PB came out of one of them that I can walk around in less then 5 min and she was 9lbs, pre-spawn she would have been a double digit fish easy. But middle of summer no belly I wasn't going to complain as she was still a great fish
  18. Nice fish, I'm thinking I should have brought little neddy with me to the delta this last week, but didn't. Might have made a difference for me up there. Little neddy will be going everywhere from now on "just incase".
  19. So let me ask you this........What exactly is your vision and your eyes worth to you? $15-$60? A cheap pair of sunglasses will definately help save your vision. But then after buying 2-3 pair of "cheap" glasses you have basiclly spent the same amount of money on a quality pair of eyewear which you will take better care of since you paid a bit more for them. I use less expensive ones at work due to the fact I don't want to destroy a pair of Keanon's but when I'm home I don't go anywhere without my glasses. Look online, you can find discounted quality glasses (mine were $110 a pair instead of $200+) if you look. With that said my preferred brand of glasses are Kaenon's. But the WileyX glasses aren't bad either if you can find them for the deal above.
  20. It happens, my first tournament, 1 bite in two days and it was a short fish. Next tournament 5 fish the first day, then 1 right off the bat and then lost 2 at the end of the day. But at least you weighted in a couple.
  21. Glad to see you are now getting the advice you were looking for. Snookalot's the man when it comes to spinning set ups on here IMO.
  22. And NO SENKO's, just tubes and beavers, beavers and tubes. Sorry couldn't help it when the first couple replies were to fish jigs and senko's.
  23. Caught a lot of fish off green pumpkin in Cameron. Redfish, trout, and flounder all have no problem finding the grubs I was fishing last spring and summer.
  24. Shorts.....Kids SPF 50 in the spray can. Or I wear pants. As for the rest, have 3 buffs, 2 sets of arm sleeves (1 from Simms and 1 from Columbia) to use if I wear a t-shirt. Also have 3 different long sleeve Sungear long sleeve shirts, and the wide brim hat as well as a pair of sungloves. Yes I may stand out fishing all covered up, but that 5 min to put it all on and take it off sure is A LOT better then the 2 days of sunburn and the week of peeling. And of course the protection from possibly getting sun cancer.
