Lew's Tourney Pro Problems Again... :(
Ok so i went to the lake today and wow.... I had 2 centrifugal brakes and 7 magnetic brakes on and the spool tension set to where the lure just slowly falls.... and i got a backlash everycast (i changed the settings a little between casts but not drastically, just maybe 1,2 clicks tighter or so).. Please don't say something like "practice everyday and loosen the brakes a little more each day".. I know how to use a baitcaster, and have been for 2+ years now. I can skip, pitch, and flip. I think i am just going to sell this reel and buy something i am more comfortable using

Lew's Tourney Pro Problems Again... :(
I am not new to bass fishing. I have used casters for about 2+ years and i have been bass fishing for .... i think around 6 ( Im in highschool). My main confusion right now is just the cleaning/lubing part. I am going to try the stuff suggested on this post. I have only took apart the entire reel 1 time so i don't really know what i'm doing lol!

Lew's Tourney Pro Problems Again... :(
I didn't put too much on the spool shaft, but i will clean that up. Took the reel for a few test casts today and it is doing better after the last clean/lube i did a few days ago. (i hadn't really tested it alot until today) and it can cast a 1/4oz strike king red eye shad a good 30-40 yards. I am not at all complaining about that, but it still cannot cast other stuff to great... I mainly have trouble with hard baits that are hollow and have lots of drag while flying through air, but no weight. Something like a silent crankbait is tough. What brake settings do you use for lighter lures? I think the reason i have trouble with these is that they don't have enough force when casted to spin the spool alot so the centri. brakes are less useful. Should i just use mag brakes for lighter stuff?

Lew's Tourney Pro Problems Again... :(
So i posted another topic on this about a month ago and i tried a few of the things that people suggested and most of it worked, but problems slowly came back. Casting distance is awful right now. I measured how long i could cast with a 3/8 oz single spinner spinnerbait (the h&h one) and i got 60 feet. This isn't too horrible of a cast, but for how much the reel costs i expect better. Right now with the reel i have it set with 2 centri. brakes, and magnetic brakes around 3. I set the spool tension tight enough so the lure falls slowly when you press the spool release. The reel always starts out on a cast nicely, but then a loop or two will form and then I get like 10-20 loops by the end of the cast. I am not sure which brake needs to be adjusted in this situation. I have messed around with the brakes a TON and it seems that the only two ways i can set the reel are 1- short cast distance, spool slows down very fast during cast or 2-long cast, but loops and then small backlash.. I have owned several other baitcasters and NONE of them do this. I can usually dial them in to a nice mid-ground where i can get long distance and no 'lash. I have heard so much about this reel being great, and everyone's favorite to use, but i just don't see it. I would take a h20 mettle over this anyday, but i'm stuck with this reel and i just want to figure it out. If i can't figure it out soon i will probably end up selling it. Here's what i did last time that worked: cleaned spool shaft dried off bearings as much as possible with cu-tip put a little oil on the track that the centri. brakes rub against so they weren't so strong / didn't cut down distance as much put 1 drop of oil on side plate bearing 1 drop oil on shaft bearing and a little bit on the shaft part new line- berkley smooth cast 12 lb mono new rod - h20 blue ethos I have heard alot about "flushing" out the bearings and reapplying oil, but i am hesitant. Does it help significantly? Any other suggestions? If anyone has ever had this problem please help! EDIT: If you're wondering why i didn't just clean it over again, the reason is they didn't really help when i did it again the other day ( #1-5 ). I was still having the same short casting distance.

Can Carp And Bass Live In Harmony In A Pond?
If carp annoy you, get out the fly rod and some floating flies made of foam or cork, and just drag it near 'em when they are near the surface and then catch and kill them

Carp Addicted!
I made a small little fly thing out of some wood the other day, and recently I have been testing it out on the local ponds for grass carp. It is so fun watching the slow, but exciting chase then the bite off the surface, and hearing the drag scream when they make 30 yard runs. I will be getting a fly reel very soon to use regular dry flies, but I can't cast them on ultra-light gear so i just made one out of wood. I have caught a few on it already, all under 15 lbs, but a pond less than a mile from my house is packed with 30-40 lb giants. I havent gone there yet cause the place where they all hang out is too far to cast the little wooden fly (20 - 30 ft). Can't wait to catch some giants on a fly reel. Anyone else here fly-fish for grass carp?

Carp Help?
So i have tried a lot of lures on these grass carp, but i cannot seem to catch one! I have even tried flys, and homemade lures. They will come to the surface and just barely bite it, but not eat it. Is there any lures that will work for carp that are cruising way up on the surface of the water? Also, would doughballs or something work? I need something that floats so i can't use corn, but maybe bread? Please help..

Post Spawn / Summer - Favorite Lures
what are your favorite lures for the post-spawn and summer patterns. And when i say post-spawn i mean the time when the females go deep and recover, and also when they stop feeding (this behavior takes place after the recovery period) feeding (they only feed in the morning, and at night aroung 6-7 pm) and go deep. I am guessing most of you like crankbaits for this time of year as they are a fish catcher right now!

What Is The Post Spawn Pattern?
Right now, i see some bass feeding, and some are guarding fry. When will the bass be deep again. I love deep fishing in my pond because it has a max depth of about 6' and i can cover lots of water fast w/ traps, a-rigs, spinnerbaits, cranks, and swim jigs.

Weird Bass Behavior Help?
Yesterday i went to the nearby pond for 3 hours, and i saw some weird stuff going on! I saw a few small males guarding fry, so i know they were in post-spawn, but the part that confuses me is the females. I saw a few large females, around 5 pounds, cruising around. They were just under the water, and were in pairs or groups of 3 or so. Also, there were some bass that weren't guarding fry, that were on beds but weren't spawning. I knew they weren't spawning cause it was just one bass on each bed and the beds have been there for a week with no fish on it till today. I caught 2, 1 on buzzbait and 1 on craw. I shoulda had 2 more though but i missed them.. :~( Anyone know what was going on? i though the big females went deep for a while after the spawn and were inactive, not cruising around feeding? Could it be that the bass have been post-spawn already, and are feeding heavily because they are very hungry after spawn?
