  1. For the unit I want, universal mania is $100 more than digital oasis. I've read a little bit about digital oasis from a google search and it seems like they are pretty crappy. I'd rather spend the extra $100 and buy from a company that isn't shady.
  2. The time has come to purchase my new electronics and some good prices have come up from TheDigitalOasis.... Their site just seems a little, um, sketchy? Has anyone purchased from them and was your experience good? Thanks!
  3. Never used their hardbaits, but CRUSH reds an speckled trout on their soft plastics plenty of times. I'd imagine their hardbaits are awesome too.
  4. See - I was thinking just yesterday how I've heard all this talk about Lews reels. I want to try one! Which model do you have?
  5. From what I've read on reviews and such, one pole will let the bow swing around in current or wind, like you are describing. Ideally you'd deploy 2 and get a sturdy platform.
  6. WHAT MODEL REELS ARE THOSE?!>!!?!?! Those look GORGEOUS. I bet they fish like a dream
  7. I've never had success using mono in conjunction with braid. Everything I've tried has led to a really weak and unreliable setup.
  8. Stay away from the Silver max IMO. I just bought one a few weeks ago for an extra rob I had laying around. First cast on it and the line guide broke off. Come to think of it, all my Abu reels have some weird finicky problem... have a $200 revoSTX that isn't even 3 months old and when I cast any type of weight on it, it makes the most terrible squelching noise. When it comes to spinning gear, I've always strictly used Shimano and never had a ANY problems. Think it's time for me to start looking into Shimano casting gear as well.
  9. This idea has been used for kayak fishing for some time. I don't see why it wouldn't work well in this type of application too. I mean, it might be kind of sketchy with a heavier boat? Update us once you get out and use em'. And another thing - be careful pulling them out of the mud. As a yak fisherman, and as a duck hunter shoving PVC decoy poles into the mud, I'll vouch these kind of things can get REALLY stuck good. Takes some good muscle to get em out.
  10. AHHHHH okay okay okay. Get it now. I'll change my answer to a teal... Im quick, but man oh man I make some dumb decisions.... just like all those wads of teal that drop in when you're least expecting it, while you aren't even blowing a call. You know the ones I'm talking about!
  11. it won't matter that it is a reversed transom mount either.
  12. I guess I don't understand what you want to know? I mean - Yes, you can mount a transducer onto a trolling motor http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&q=trolling+motor+transducer+mount&oq=trolling+motor+trans&gs_l=hp.3.1.0l4.1145.4090.0.5448.20.12.0.8.8.2.345.1590.6j5j0j1.12.0....0...1c.1.22.psy-ab..2.18.1260.wTB_c0QZY2Q&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.49784469%2Cd.eWU%2Cpv.xjs.s.en_US.MpiVkF51mpA.O&fp=d7c5feea3f133d7c&biw=1249&bih=628 You can just ziptie the cable up the length of the TM shaft. to hold it in place.
  13. I choose Bill Dance first. Good pointers and a ton of laughs....at his expense of course.
  14. If your question is "do you prefer to shoot mallards or wooducks" my answer is mallards all day.
  15. 12" worms. all day.
  16. Been a member on here for a few months, but never took the chance to introduce myself. My name is Martin, I'm 24, and live in north Louisiana. I grew up in south Louisiana fishing saltwater for speckled trout, redfish, and flounder. Since moving up north, I've finally grown passionate about bass fishing too. We have some really great lakes close to me too, so that is a plus. I really enjoy this forum and everyone on here is super helpful and nice. Glad I joined. Cheers fellas!
  17. By just reading the topic, I was tempted to respond "I get REALLY religious whenever I hook a bass on treble hooks... "please god, let him stay on!!""
  18. Am I OCD about organization? Kind of I suppose. I am a big fan of minimalism because if I have too much stuff, I loose confidence in what I'm using and think "maybe I should change to this color, no that color, no maybe that hardbait, no maybe that, continue ad nauseum." I haven't found any real way to organize my soft plastics very well outside of soft binders or softs bags. I do keep them in the original packages because it helps me identify them easier. Also, if I'm using one specific worm I can just keep the bag with me on deck rather than a whole plano. I still haven't taken the $ to buy binders or a few worm bags, so right now I throw them all into a one compartment hunting bag. Holds about 20 bags of any plastics. Takes a second to find what I want, but it's the best I can do right now. In the past I've been a really messy fisherman and my organization was all over the place. After the first couple of hours, the seating area looked like a crackhouse - empty drinks, couple of planos, ripped plastics, hardbaits, line...just random stuff strewn about. Since I'm running 60 mph in the new boat, I have to keep it clean or stuff goes flying. Now I keep my tackle (aside from plastics) organized very well so I can find things quickly and efficiently. My hooks and shakeyheads are all in one plano with label's for each. Weights, swivels, beads, and clips all in one plano. Jigs in one. 0-9ft cranks in a plano. 10+ cranks in a plano. Spinners in a plano. I MUST keep everything organized or I am liable to become a complete basket case while digging for "that one lure that caught that donkey of a bass."
  19. http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Sea-Dog-Emergency-Boarding-Ladder-5-Step&i=81167&r=view&aID=601K1&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlebase&s_kwcid=googlepla&cvsfa=2587&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=3831313637&cID=SHOPPING_81167 - just buy this and loop it over a cleat
  20. I only stick with Mann's and Norman's. As for "getting worn out" - watch this video on youtube and do the stretches!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSrfB7JIzxY I've really improved my ability to fish heavy baits for extended periods of time. Deep divers, 1/2oz jigs, and 1oz punch setups wear me down, but it's gotten a lot better since I started doing these.
  21. That genuinely made me laugh! I'm 6'2 and squirming under there was a real pain. I'm thinking I'll be moving it somewhere easier to access.
  22. I am so friggin' angry right now. I FINALLY found the fuse box. I didn't imagine I'd have to literally remove the whole underside of the console to get to it. Good grief. I really hope I never blow a fuse because that thing will be a PAIN to replace!
  23. That's what I'm saying! If there is one, it's freaking HIDDEN!
