  1. Great post & excellent recommendations!!! +1 on the Bluegill swimbaits - I like any of the Matt Lures & the Gantarel Jr for about $32.00. Also in the $50.00 category get a Bull Shad.
  2. I have not had that issue. One of the things that I really like about the Rage Swimmer is it's movement at slow retrieve speeds.
  3. The Cabin Creek Spider Parts has been a winner for me. The skirts are separate so you can mix/match colors. My best combo has been a GP body with the Tennessee Orange skirt. Use a 1/8 - 1/4 oz jig head - 1/8 being the best for me. The thick tentacle is to use as a weed guard.
  4. This happened to me. I sent them an email about replacement heads & they said July availability.
  5. I remember reading a while back that someone asked Tommy Biffle if he could have just one jig color - he said yellow and black.
  6. I use the Lews BB2HZ wide spool. I prefer the low profile reels for my swimbaits.
  7. I've used my Okuma Guide Select swimbait rod as a flippin' stick on several occasions. And they won't break the bank!
  8. I've said on here several times that the original All Star WR1 & WR2 are my favorite rods of all time. Well, I was lucky enough today to find a brand new WR1, with the Houston info card still attached by rubber band.
  9. I love to throw this 10" floating worm from KC Injection baits. Stop your retrieve & the worm floats up on the swing head. The strikes can be vicious at times.
  10. And with their tax weekend sale, they are $15.00. That's s great deal!
  11. I can't wait for the 7.8...
  12. Another vote for the Strike King S11's.
  13. Xcite XB-1 in Copper Green Shad. I throw other brands/colors but this one is in the rotation more by a long shot.
  14. Maybe Tackledirect.com. Plus there are listings on fleabay...
  15. It is easier to screw in the keeper on the jig heads. The Trick Worm head is kind of cone shaped.
  16. I also like the Blood Knot. Tie it correctly, wet it & fish all day or until the leader gets too short.
  17. +1 on the Trick Worm. I also have had success with the Strike King Ocho. The multiple flat sides give the bait a different action.
  18. Look on the package for the Original Trick Worm. It has no salt & will stand up better than the Super Salt Added ones. I just cut a 1/4" off the pointed head. I also like the Reins Bubbling Shaker but they are hard to find locally.
  19. Zoom Trick Worm in Merthiolate. Killer bait weightless Spring thru Summer. TW is out of stock for a reason...
  20. Agree on both.
  21. Killer during the spawn all the way through the Bluegill spawn. But if Bluegill are a primary forage in the lake you are fishing, it will work until early Fall.
  22. I've posted this site before, but if you know a frame that fits, you can save a LOT of money. They are a discounter, so you have to check often. Here's a good example today for $90.00. https://www.steepandcheap.com/costa-cat-cay-polarized-sunglasses-costa-580-glass-lens?skid=CDM3144-MATCRYMIRB-ONESIZ&ti=UExQIFJ1bGUgQmFzZWQ6U3VuZ2xhc3NlcyBPbiBTYWxlOjE6Mjo= This one is $100.00 https://www.steepandcheap.com/costa-hammerhead-polarized-sunglasses-costa-400-glass-lens?skid=CDM0054-WOFASIMIS580G-ONESIZ&ti=UExQIFJ1bGUgQmFzZWQ6U3VuZ2xhc3NlcyBPbiBTYWxlOjE6MTI6 This one is $92.00 https://www.steepandcheap.com/costa-hamlin-polarized-sunglasses-costa-580-glass-lens?skid=CDM002U-CRYBROMIR-ONESIZ&ti=UExQIFJ1bGUgQmFzZWQ6U3VuZ2xhc3NlcyBPbiBTYWxlOjI6MTY6 If you want a pretty good pair but you need to save a little more, the Strike King S11's are around $45.00 or less.
  23. In open water, the bottom. If I am swimming it over grass or some other cover, I rig it on the top to snag less.
  24. Here's something new designed by Bill Lowen for Lure Parts Online that I have ordered but not tried yet. I really like the concept. It's basically a weighted swimbait head with a screw lock keeper. The passage for the line-thru is molded into the head. http://www.lurepartsonline.com/Online-Store/Hot-New-Items/Lowens-Signature-Slip-Shad-Jig.html
  25. I always use a coffee stir straw inserted into the bait. For this way, solid body baits are best. I've done it on all size baits - treble size depends on the bait size. As long as the entry point is in the center of the nose, I have not seen any problems with bait action.
