Cutting Braided Line
You guys that are using the boomerang, do you have the regular or long snip version? LC

Drop Shot Reel
After having such great success with my Lews bait casters I decided to stick with perfection and get a Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spin. It's loaded with 15# power pro yellow braid topped with a yozuri hybrid leader and sits on a *** *** Black Medium power rod. It looks like they've updated the reel for 2016 and the new model looks to have some great features. I have absolutely no complaints on mine. Solid anti-reverse, super smooth drag, great capacity, and the reeling is buttery smooth as well. LC

Line Identification
Looks like it's Trilene XL. I tried a piece from the rod and a piece of Trilene and Seguar from the spools. The piece from the rod sinks very slowly to the bottom, and so does the trilene. The Seguar sinks very quickly straight to the bottom of the glass. LC

Cutting Braided Line
I think part of my problem with scissors is being a lefty, lol. Other lefties will get it. I'm definitely going to check out that snipping tool. Already added to my amazon wishlist! LC

Cutting Braided Line
What are you guys using to snip your tag ends and stuff on braid? I've tried nail clippers, Rapala "braid" scissors, burning, etc. The scissors worked but after only a couple of outings they have been dulled quite a bit. Clippers just mash and fray the braid, and burning is too close to my main line. I keep my pocket knife razor sharp but it's hard getting close to the knot when cutting off the tag. LC

Line Identification
Cool thanks guys. I'll try both methods and see what results I get. I just simply can't remember. I took a break from fishing for about 2 years and just don't know what I put on. I thought I posted on here about it when I got my new reels and rods but couldn't find the post. LC

What's your favorite spinning reel line?
Watch your knots. Alot of my breakoffs have been at the knot. I will tie a Palomar about 75% of the time, I always make sure I lube the knot and make sure there are no twists, but still had alot of breaks on this line. I mostly used either 10 or 12# test. LC

Berkley Lightning Rod - Shock Series
I'm still using my LR Shock series rods. 6'6" medium power for my crankbaits topped with a Lews BB1 and a 7' MH with a Lews Tournament MG for my T-Rigs, Frogs, most non-finesse plastics, etc. Occasionally i'll throw a spinnerbait but i usually use my *** Black with the Lews Tourney Pro in a 7:1 gear ratio for that. They've held up great so far. Still super sensitive and the only missed hooksets have been my own stupid fault. LC

Cranking Rods
I havent, no. I do know I'm not a huge fan of EVA grips, and I prefer cork. Hmmm....may go Ethos. LC

Cranking Rods
I'm torn between the ethos from academy or the St Croix rage. Has anyone tried both side by side? What action and power would be best for throwing KVD 1.5 cranks and lipless cranks like the rattling rap and backstabbers? LC

What's your favorite spinning reel line?
I used to use spiderwire mono exclusivity, but over the past few years I've had alot of lost fish, lures, hooks, and unexplained breaks when using spiderwire. I'm not sure if they changed their formula or what happened but the last couple of spools I got were junk. LC

Line Identification
There is a third possibility, which is Yo Zuri Hybrid, but I don't think I would have spooled up with it. I only use it for leader, but it just can't remember. LC

Line Identification
This is a dumb post on my part, but I can't remember what line I have spooled on my Lews BB1. It's either Berkley smooth cast XL or Seguar red label. This is my crankbait rod and reel. I spooled up the reel a year or two ago, and I love the way this line fishes. It's sensitive and casts like a dream. Out of hundreds of casts I've only had maybe 2 back lashes on this reel with this line. I want to refresh my line, but don't know what I used. Is there any way I can try to tell the two apart? LC

the official lost tackle of 2016 thread v1
Too much to remember so far. Been having issues with my leader knot snapping, using the knot where you make a loop in the leader, put the braid through and wrap 6 times, then wrap back down 6 times and back out through the loop. The name escapes me. Using 15lb power pro and and yozuri hybrid leader. Not sure why it keeps snapping. The most upsetting for me so far has been one of my Seibert spinner baits I got hung in a tree. LC $1600 in 8-9 feet of water? YBYA I'd be out there in rented scuba gear as soon as the water warms up! LC

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Well let's see, this weekend I purchased some shakey heads, some tube inserts, stick bait jig heads, senkos/shim-e-sticks, rage tail craws in pumpkin seed, a new rattle trap, some zoom chunks in pumpkinseed, and up just placed an order for 9 kvd 1.5s and some quick drop drop shot weights on TW. I really need to find a good variety pack of tubes and senkos as my local walmart doesn't have much in color or size selection. LC

Top Squarebills
Cool thanks. Just ordered 9 new crankbaits thanks to this thread lmao. LC

Top Squarebills
Which KVD square bills are you guys referring to? I'm looking on TW and there's several variants - silent, flat sided, pro model series 1, pro model series1xs, etc etc. LC

Too late for jig fishing?
Ok cool. At first I was like "huh?" And then considered it because I don't have much experience fishing jigs. I do know the bite was SLOW. The only thing I could get hits on was that senko in watermelon red flake and those were little guys. This was also a painfully slow retrieve and most bites came after wiggling the senko on the bottom for a few shakes. I don't think they have spawned here yet. The water temp has just hit 60 for the first time this year. This from the same guy who told me that jig fishing was done for the season. LC

Too late for jig fishing?
Hello folks....was out to the lake yesterday and was catching a few on a wacky rigged senko in watermelon red flake. Seems like that's all they were hitting on for me. Anyways, a guy in a boat came up when I pulled one in and asked what I was using, and after telling him all I had tried, mentioning asked jig I tried earlier, he said it's past jig season and the water is too warm already, and that jigs should only be thrown when the water is under 60 degrees pre-spawn. Any truth to this? I'm only just now experimenting with jigs and have never caught a bass on a jig. I had assumed a jig was an all season long rig. LC

Handy Fishing Life Hack
I used them mostly for the smaller hooks I use for bobber and bottom fishing. Previously these were loose in the storage spaces and would end up all over my box, especially the tiny panfish hooks. I only had a handful of EWG worm hooks that were loose but they also fit fine. I tend to keep these in the plastic packs they come in and put them in one of the large square sections at the bottom corner of a 3700 box. Since switching to 360 boxes I had had to move them to an outside pocket of of my plastics bag for now but will fix that soon. LC

Handy Fishing Life Hack
The boxes I was using before we're Plano 3700 series and i was able to fit most of my hooks in with the safety pins. I just got a new tackle bag from BPS that only holds a 360/3600 size box and they fit well there too. If you lay them in there just right then they seem to just fit right in the there. I'll try try to grab a picture tomorrow if I can remember. LC

Handy Fishing Life Hack
Hey I like that! My plastics bag is a mess. This might help me get it under control. LC

Handy Fishing Life Hack
Found this on youtube and figured I would share here. I just went through my whole box of hooks and made this change and it makes a huge difference already! All you need is a $0.99 box of safety pins! LC

rod carriers
I actually just rectified that situation, lol. My girlfriend ordered an Okuma tackle backpack for me for my birthday. It will be easier to carry than my current shoulder slung tackle bag, and should hold my Plano boxes and have room up top for my worm bags and soft tackle. I ended up ordering a rod caddy from cabelas. I had a gift card. It will hold 5 rods and has a carrying handle instead of carrying the bundle by the base of one rod. LC

rod carriers
Just wondering if any of you guys ever tried one of these, especially the bank and shore anglers out there. I know I can sometimes walk quite a ways to my fishing holes, and carrying 4 or 5 poles plus all my tackle can be pretty cumbersome. http://www.maderamarine.com/Fishing_Rod_Holders.html#Quadz LC
