  1. Fished a tournament out at beaverdamn. 34 boats showed, which about average for the tourneys they hold here. Day started out about 65 degrees an no wind. tough day on the water to say the least. we fished main lake points an drops in the 12 to 18 foot range. we had 13 bites the entire day and only caught 8 of those fish. 7 bass, and one chain pickeral. had our limit of 5 in the boat in the first hour an half, an the fish just shut down. We tried a bit of everything, from slow rollin a hank parker classic on the ledges, to pitching the brush with a jig n pig, an everything in between. Baits that caught our limit - 3/16th KVD shakey head with a 7inch greenpumpkin zoom trickworm, BassPro weighted wacky with a 5inch Senko greenpumpkin black flake. Our five fished weighed in went 10.38 and we finished 10th. First place was 14 pounds an some change and had big fish as well 3 pounds 13 ounces. Was an awesome time an made some new friends along the way... one of the things I love about tournament fishing at this level..... everyone is real...
  2. Its still early summer, which means the fish are doing a couple dif things... I've found on the lakes Im fishing the last couple of weeks, the soft plastics have been out performing all else. I throw a few dif styles and are as follows... Shakyhead - with a greenpumpkin 7 inch trick worm - first drops of the shorline, around any structur, laysdowns, grasslines... main lake points in the 8-10foot range. 3/8th's Weighted wacky with a senko. color of bamacraw on the windy days as well as none weighted wacky same color senko on the calmer days. and when it really gets tough... Ive been catching them on a sliderhead with a junebug finesse worm. and of course my newsest fav, the black n blue bitsy bug with a KVD junior chunk. Ive fished this all over the lakes... shallow.. deep... pionts.. an general my bigger fish come off it. Slow hoppin to start... if nothing... slow it to a drag with no hops. stirs up the bottom alil more. Hope that helps some with your next trip out.
