  1. Hit a dif pond first thing this morning, only caught one fish worth speaking of... an it wasnt a bass, was a 9pound blue cat! Hit the BitsyBug like it a good size bass. Hit the back mill pond this evening for the top water bite.. caught several fish all on the G-splash 60 and the 65 This chunk below didnt hit until right before it was time to go.... an wasnt 100 yards from where we put in iat.
  2. Drop shot or Try throwing a 4inch zoom finesse worm, on a 1/8 slider head on say 10pound test... either one of those should produce in the pockets of grass or on the drop... working it slow would be key though. Take your time with them, an just when you feel like your at a slow enough speed, slow down some more. its a pain as most of want to move the bait around an in , to get it back out... slowing it downs really keeps it in that strike zone that much longer, almost getting them to hit everytime jus on a reaction strike.
  3. Gonna be hitting it again tomm morning. Will have more pics of the bigguns I latch onto! Gonna put the boat in an go left!
  4. Nice fish! Another example of how versitile the jig is!! Sounds like your hooked!
  5. Buddy and I went fishin yesterday an yoked up on a few nice fish in the 4 hours we spent on the water. This is one of our fav lakes to fish. Its about 15 acers of stump fields an stick ups. The water is up two foot from all the rain we've had , normaly you can see 90% of the tops of the stumps in 5 feet of water, but on this day.. as you can tell.. cant see many... their there though.. I've broke a trollin motor already out there lololol. All those bass were 4 pounds or better. Caught several in the 2-3 pound range and 20 + in the 1 pound range. This citation crappppppy hit a G-Splash 3.5 like he was a 5 pound bass! This was his last top water fish of the morning... once he caught that lil guy.. he put the G-Splash down! lolol He caught most of his off the G-Splash an BitsyBug and I caught mine on a T-1 Terminator Spinnerbait (blue gill pattern), and a BPS pro shakeyhead with a zoom 7inch green pumpkin trick worm. Awesome DAY!!!! Tight lines all!! PoorBoy
  6. HA! Finaly someone let the cat outa the bag!
  7. Yea that one there ... well... yea fugleist! I caught a 3 pounder that had only a qauter of his upper lips, like maybe one of them snappiin turtles got ahold of his face.
  8. Ty sir for the link! I That explains alot that I knew nothing about... which was the purpose of this post to start.. learn what I dont know from what others do know It would appear on mine though thats its a new an improved upgraded version of it.. seeing that its all over its body where its "normaly" not. Now I can tell ya'll exacly where you can catch you a few of these "hybrids" for a small fee!
  9. I reckin anything is possible..
  10. Congrats on the possible boat purchase!!! Im looking forward to the process of finding my own as well!!!
  11. Ty all for the replys.. will be checking out all of the above mentioned an will let ya;ll know what I come up with. TIght lines all! Mark
  12. Nice Chunker!
  13. Yea I've caught one other kinda like this one.. only had one black spot bout the size of a tenis ball on its back.... but didnt think anything of it.. this one though takes the cake... If not a new species then maybe we can patten the deisign?? an geneticaly alter say.... a florida strain bass with camo pattern! New bread of advasary for them sight fishermen!
  14. I know right! I've head of lateral lines, but this one is just alil OFF!
  15. This isnt my ride... but I found it funny!
  16. My crankin reel is the same ratio as yours and I like it like that, it keeps your bait in the zone you want it to be in for a max amount of time. and I throw mine on 10 pound test to get that extra depth , and I keep my drag set light. So between the fast tip of the rod, the slight stretch in the 10 pound line, an the drag being set good, I never break off when throwing my cranks. *Knocks on Wood*. I do sometimes when throwing the bigger /deeper cranks put on some 12 pound trilene. this allows me to rip the bigger baits down to depth quicker,, or so it seems. Oh an invest in a decent lure retreaval system! will save you a bit of $ in the long run!
  17. Lets see... I've got 10 baitcasters and 3 spinning rods set up. and I think I throw them both about the same amount. Generaly my bigger baits on the baitcasters, and my finesse baits on spinning gear. From time to time, I'll tie on a 2.5 G splash on 10 pound trilene on a spinning rod just for the challenge of fighting a fish on top water with light line. To me its all about being able to adapt to any situation... being able to use both allows me to do so to the best of my abilitys, now this doesnt make it right for everyone, my partner that I fish my tournys with uses nothing but spinning gear an does well with it, so its all about personal choice in what makes you feel comfortable in your fishing abilitys.
  18. Living out in the country like I do... there's alot of ponds in the surrounding area's. With a bit of luck, I've gottin permission to fish a few that are close to home so I get to hit them often. Went out yesterday evening on a pond we call Marlborrow, its probably about 12 acres, average depth is 4.5, deepest being 16ft . It has alittle bit of everything for cover, laydowns, buckbrush, stumps, deep points, grass. I threw my bitsy bug the entire time I was there, an caught several fish in the two to three pound range. and this one fish had some markings on its body that I have know clue about. I thought I would post a pic with the fish, an get some imput from the members of the forum on the subject. Ive yet to do any research on the matter, and I will at some point be on google to see what I can find. Will post more about it as I find the info! This happens to be the lake that Ive been stocking for a couple years now, an the very same lake the I released my PB for this year into. 7.2. Theres a guy that lives 1 mile from the lake that fishes the Patomic river all the time an brings fish from there to this pond as well. So that fish might be a patomic fish, but I've never caught anything looking like that from the patomic so I honestly cant say for certain. That fish actualy got the bait deep, hooked badly, I tried to get the bait back, but feared I would do more damage then good. So I bent the barb in as best I could, an clipped my line an realeased him, hope he does well , as he was a good fighting fish, despite his fugly look! Note - The nice ol lady that lives in that house, owns the lake, and was kind enough to give us permission to fish it. A slight glimps of my two man bassin buddy. DONT at it an dont hate! This lil boat rocks!
  19. Well I would have to say it was a tough day on the water. Tourny started at 6:15am with 24 boats signed up. Weather was overcast, from start till bout 12:30 with a few sprinkles in the mix from time to time. once the sun broke through its was humid an HOT! My partner an I had a plan layed out as to where we would start the day off, only to see 5 other boats head into the same creek we intended on starting in. This creek isnt so big as to accomidate 6 boats, so we pulled up one point short of the creek an began the day. Caught two fish off that point, one on a rebel PopR, one 13incher on a weighted wackey with a senko (green pumkin/black flake) w00t! our first keeper.. if you can call it that! pffft! We ended up with a limit and our big fish was only 1.13! Monster ehhh? 5 fish total weight = 7.08. There's always someone fishing, that gets on them good, and today was no acception. Al Bowls won it with a nice 5 fish limit weighing 15 and some change, big fish = 4.9. One of the boats that went up into our starting creek. Thats the breaks though... sometimes they will beat you to your own spot, but we went in after they all left an caught our limit, granted they got the bigguns, but a limit is a limit... sometimes big.. sometimes small.. way better then a 0 anytime! Just to let ya'll know, Little Creek Res is putting on a tournament next weekend.. Open to all as well. Please contact 757-566-1702 for more information.
  20. Ive been on that river a few times, but its been probably ten years or better since I have. Back then, first thing in the morning.. top water was hitting well, Throwing a bone white Rico popper, with better fish comming off the outside bends of the creeks. Caught a few on spinner bait bite, Hank Parker Classic, 1/4, ounce white skirt with the two stock colorado blades that come on the bait. Mid day till weigh in, I was throwing a Zoom 4inch finesse straight tail. Junebug in color on a 1/8th ounce slider head. Awesome bait to fish just about anywhere on the river. Personal I like it around wood, of all kinds from docks to cypres trees n knees. I caught a few fish off a strike king black n blue jig n pig. Pamunkey is alot like the Chick in that once you find somethin workin.... your a shoe in to duplicate it through out the day as long as your running with the tide. and watch yourself this time of the year, that river tends to have alot of debri in the water. If your putting in at Williams Landing then I would suggest going up river bout mile an half it opens up pretty wide, theres about half a mile of docks on the right side once it opens up... an as soon as you get out into the open water.. look left theres a small creek that doesnt even look like you can fit a boat in the skinny water... but on high tide.. you can get in an around the corner into a stretch of 8 foot water that runs back in there for like 200 yards... its always holding fish.. but keep an eye on the tide so you dont get stuck back in there... hope that helps some! Tight lines! PoorBoy
  21. Ive only got a small two man bassin buddy, and fish out of because all the lakes my club fishes are electric motors only. Room is a big issue for me.. but I prefer to have the biggest cooler I could find that would fit between the two seats. Mind you i've been through 3 coolers to find the one Im using now. Heat has always been an issue but this cooler Im using... I put two gatorade bottles frozen in it.. an it keeps the water the same cool temp for the entire tournament. I leave my pump running most of the day as it doesnt really drain much on the better. I would guess that its because the cooler is insulated, and able to maintaine the temp better. It works well for me.. since I've been using it.. have yet to lose a fish. Also throw a cap or two of the fish alive in.. once in the morning.. once around noon.
  22. Those look my Qauntum Qvex's, if thats the case I need to run down to the local store an see what they on their clearance table. Ive been needing to get some new gear anyway... what better way to do then by saving a buck or two! more things I can buy Thanks for the heads up!
  23. I like to rip a trap through the top of the grass. Let it fall down on the top gettin hung just alittle.. then ripping it like a mad man off the grass just to let it fall back down again. Most of my strikes right after I rip it out an let it fall... I use a BPS 7' medium/heavy with a fast tip pared with a Qauntum 7:3:1 Burner spooled with Berkley Trilene BigGame 20pound. You have to deal with getting the grass off the hooks from time to time but well worth it if you know there holding in the weeds
  24. Welcome to the forum! Indeed its an awesome place for info! Best I've found so far!
