  1. Thanks for the thoughts everyone. Sounds like the majority is to just spool it.
  2. If I was going to spool 15lb Invizx, would you recommend using mono backing on a Curado 50e, or just use all Fluoro since it is a smaller spool? Thanks.

    4" or 5" Senko on a 3/0-4/0 Offset EWG hook Swim Jig w/ Craw Trailer 1/4oz - 3/8oz Chatterbait
  4. Forgot to clarify that it would be on a spinning setup. Size 2500 reel / 68MXF rod. Thanks.
  5. Which type of line do you prefer for throwing chatterbaits / spinnerbaits / swim jigs?
  6. Thanks again to all of those who took the time to respond. I will most likely go with the 30 size. Sounds like it will be plenty for me.
  7. Thanks for the info. Helps the decision process.
  8. My older spinning reel broke and I am replacing w/ a Pflueger President. I just can't decide on the size. I currently have a Shimano Symetre and a Stradic FJ both in a 2500 size and a Sahara in a 1000 size. This spinning reel will be used mainly for throwing chatter baits and spinnerbaits maybe weightless T-Rigs. Any preferences out there on the sizes of the Presidents. This is my first non-shimano spinning reel. Thanks.
  9. Hey folks...I was wondering your thoughts on a longer (7'1") or shorter (6'8") spinning rod for pond/bank fishing. I've decided on a *** Black brand but I am torn about length and power. I already have a 6'8"MXF Avid. I am paring the new rod with a 2500 Stradic FJ. I feel more accurate with a shorter rod but would a few more inches give me more distance? I want to throw 1/4oz - 3/8oz chatter / spinnerbaits / swim jigs with the next rod. Was going to go MF on the power/action, what are your thoughts on the length?
  10. Plano SoftSider X Advanced Series Tackle Bags - $36.99 (3600) to $48.99 (3700). Perfect for what I need. Plenty of storage and comes with all the Boxes.
  11. I use it as my main line on a Shimano Symetre 2500. It seems to cast the best for me. I have tried Invizx and Seguar Red Label and the P-Line seems to have worked best for me. That's just my opinion.
  12. I love it. Spool it up and spray a little KVD line and lure conditioner on it and it casts great.
  13. Came across somebody selling a 7' LECMHF St. Croix legend Elite with a brown blank. Is there a big diff btwn this older model and the new ones? Any thoughts on market value or inappropriate to ask that.
  14. I'm new to the Greensboro area. Currently limited to bank fishing. I know there are some decent lakes here but not sure how accessible from the bank. Anyone in the area have any bank access reccomendations for the lakes or does anyone know of a great pond with some fish? Thanks.
  15. Scenario: You have $100-$120 to spend at a Memorial Day Sale (could be anywhere). You mainly are stuck to shore fishing lakes and ponds (rod/reel setup doesn't matter) What lures/tackle (not rods or reels) would you buy to use from now through the summer? Go.....
  16. I just got mine in the mail today!!! Paid $140 for it. Was used slightly but looks brand new. Just keep hunting. They are out there. Now I just need a rod for it.
  17. Thanks for all the replies. For some reason I feel like I am gravitating to a Dobyns Champion 683C or 703C. Why does everyone suggest a 1st GEN Cumara? What is the diff btwn the 1st generation and current generation and how do you tell the diff? Still undecided and will do some more research on the GLoomis and the Cumara. Thanks again. Cheers, J33
  18. I just purchased a Curado 50e and would like to get some opinions on a rod $250 or less. I like to throw the following baits : weightless senkos, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and txrigged plastics. I would prefer 7ft or less as I am stuck mostly to bank fishing now. Thank you all in advance for your input.
  19. I didn't really believe in this theory until recently. I fish a small local, public pond in Blacksburg, VA. I didn't even believe there were Bass in there until I grabbed a Senko and gave it a go. (I primarily fished for catfish here). Well that day i ended up catching about 15 Bass in just under 2 hrs. I was using a 4" Senko on a 2/0 EWG offset hook. Since this was working i kept using it for a while and kept pulling out 1.5 - 2lbers. A friend of mine sent me some 8" Zoom Lizards and I decided to throw one (junebug) on a 4/0 EWG and fish it weightless. Well low and behold I ended up hitting a few bigger ones. This pattern has continued and I have pulled out a couple 3 and 4lbers. I now believe in this theory and always keep one of my rods tied with a "Bigger" Bait. Cheers, JW
  20. Which would you choose out of these two? No specific technique going to be fished, just an all around reel: 1. Lew’s Tournament Pro Speed Spool (TP1H) Or 2. Shimano Curado (200e7) Thanks for your input. JW
  21. I would recommend a Shimano Sahara FE (SH1000FE) $79 paired with a St. Croix Triumph spinning rod 6' / Light / Fast (TRS60LF) $ 80. You can get from Dick's Sporting Goods. They always have coupons you can find online. Good luck.
  22. Hello Folks, After quite a long hiatus in the fishing game I have gotten the itch again. It is funny how you forget how much you loved something as a kid growing up. I haven't really seriously fished since 1995. But now that my son is almost four I have been introducing him to the sport. After taking him a few times to the local pond at Virginia Tech i realized how much I have missed fishing. I dug out my spinning rods and reels and cleaned up my tackle box and started researching here on Bass Resource. I cannot tell you how much I have learned in the past 3 months. There is an incredible wealth of knowledge in these forums. In the past three months I have upgraded my gear to include two new Shimano Spinning Reels, a new Baitcasting Reel (a first for me) and have fell in love with St. Croix rods. I now own a Triumph for lightweight setup, Mojo Bass for Baitcasting and a new Avid for a spinning set up. My favorite baits so far this summer have been the StrikeKing Swim Jig with a Baby rage Craw Trailer and a 4" Weightless Senko Texas rigged. The Bluegill Swim Jig and the Pumpkin with Blk and Grn Flake Senko have been really working well for me. My son also caught his first LMB on a weightless senko on his little 2 foot pole. Check out my profile pic for his catch. Anyway thank you to the BR staff and everyone else for sharing the information. Cheers, JW
