  1. Why use a mono leader? Isn't the whole purpose of using braid is that is doesn't stretch and its strength? Why not use flurocarbon?
  2. I have a 5' St Croix Premier UL with a Pflueger President. I really love it. Feels so weird switching from a 7'4" baitcast setup to this little dinky rod sometimes. Rod has great sensitivity. Sure is fun getting a bigger fish on the line with it.
  3. I have the Abu as well. Not a fan. Bought a Lews and love it.
  4. I have the same boat. Mine maxes out at 50hp? Wish I would have got a bigger boat..
  5. I need a bigger boat for Erie.. Dwight those are amazing
  6. Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with fishing the Conowingo Dam area of the Susquehana? I don't live too far from there and went to check it out yesterday without the boat and it looks promising. I was up at Glen Cove Marina. Thinking of heading up next weekend but don't know what to expect. I am hoping to get some nice smallies there.
  7. I am feeling a case of angleritis coming on for Monday.. Some symptoms include good upcoming weather and a crappy job.
  8. I hear ya. I live in Delco and am familiar with Chester county. Seems like all of the good spots are far away. Have you fished Struble? I have not but have heard some good things. Maybe check out the Chester County Bass Masters club and join as a rider. Good bunch of guys mostly fish in MD though.
  9. I have never fished it but have heard of some decent fish. Is that the lake you have to pay a membership fee?
  10. Don't forget that boats will always be cheaper in the winter. Maybe find some people with different styles of boats to try them out? I wish I could have gone for a test ride in mine.
  11. Im a technician. I feel your pain..
  12. You never really hear someone say they wish they got a smaller boat. If you go with a smaller one you will want to upgrade eventually and take a hit selling the first boat. The 160 is fine for one person fishing but with my buddy and I on my 165 with any rod near 7' its really tight. Also the biggest thing to me is the width. It creates a more stable boat. Either one will get you on the water which is all that matters. If I could do it again I would buy something in the 18-19' range. The trolling motor on the tracker is just about useless in any kind of wind. Also the fishfinder stinks too. Whatever you end up getting just get the biggest engine and trolling motor you can. I have a 40hp on mine and with more than two people in it it struggles to plane.
  13. I have a 2013 Pro 165 and if I were to do it again I would not buy it. The fit and finish of the boat is terrible. Everything is cheap and is falling apart. Mind you it's not even a year old and has maybe 15 hours on it. Also it's too small. The worst thing is the value, bought it new in Sept for roughly 13k went to trade it in in april and they offered $6500. If I were you I would save up and buy something used for cash. If you're going to go with a new boat avoid Tracker. I am not really impressed by nitro either. I see some of the same quality issues that the tracker has. Buy a used Ranger or Triton.
  14. Your ideas are intriguing and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.. That's right up there with condiment filled burger and hot dog buns or cheese filled fries.. I do wish it was a public event, my wife on the otherhand... Are there any other shows that are like iCast that are for the public?
  15. Thanks for the replies guys. I agree I am certain its a hook set issue. I will try the reel down method. Jigs are brand new with and the guards are trimmed. I have also switched to a heavy rod thinking that the hook wasn't penetrating.
  16. Thanks for the help guys. I will have to wait until next weekend to try it out. Really wanted to throw the rod in the lake today lol.
  17. The past three weeks I have entirely commited to fishing a jig. During the past three weeks I have not landed one bass with it. The issue I am having is when I feel the strike I set the hook, I then fight the bass for five to ten seconds then they come off. Meanwhile my buddy on the boat with me is having the same problems but with a bunch of success today. I tried changing jig types, trailers, rod weight all to the same result. I am alternating between a Mann's stone jig and Strike king football jig in 1/2 oz with rage chunk trailer. Either 7'4" Daiwa Ballistic extra heavy or 6'9" Abu garcia Veritas micro guide medium heavy. Both with the same reel and line. Lews tournament pro speed spool with 15# fluro. I don't know if I am feeling the strike too late and they're spitting it or maybe too early? They're not jumping and spitting the hook either.. Everything seels OK and then all of the sudden fish gone. Its really frustruating. All day long today my buddy was catching them and I got none. All of the fish have been nice too including his personal best today at 4lb 14oz. Thanks for any help guys Frank
  18. I just got one of these Snag proof Ish's Phat frogs. It uses two chambers so it will not fill up with water. Looking to try it out on Thurs.
