  1. Those Legend bass boats are badass too. Champagne taste and beer money here lol. I am partial to orange and black myself
  2. I've gotta say that I didn't know much about Phoenix boats but after seeing this thread I went on their site and I must say that I am in love. I am sure I will never be able to afford one though lol *crosses Ranger off of Powerball list and adds Phoenix*
  3. Hey guys just looking for some opinions on a drop shot/finesse rod. I was wondering if it it worth spending a lot of money on this rod? Seems the price for rods with the specs of medium fast or extra fast in the 6'6" range vary a lot. I was thinking about a Cumara but seeing all of the great reviews here was also considering a Dobyns. I am going to pair it with a 2500 series reel. Would the Dobyns Champion 683 be ok? Or even a 702 but its medium light.. Also the Cumara has a drop shot specific rod. I am looking for an all around finesse rod which will include drop shotting. Crucial is another cheaper option as well.
  4. If I were to guess I would say they would probably offer around 11-12k.
  5. I have a light two piece older cherrywood and never had any issues with it.. Not a bad rod for the $25 or whatever it was. I have caught many fish with it. It's easily seven years old.
  6. Good luck. I bought a pro 165 which isnt as big or nice as yours but I tried to trade it in six months after purchase and they offered my a couple hundred more than half of what I paid. Needless to say I still have the thing..
  7. LOL I know that feeling all too well.. If my marriage makes it through the winter it will be amazing. I usually get the "Why do you need so many rods? I thought you just got one?" a lot. They just don't get it..
  8. Those d**n pike and pickerel seem to target my new Siebert Outdoors jigs
  9. This is the same thing that happend to me. Bought a silvermax and HATED it. So much so that I almost didn't want to use a baitcast reel. I thought I was doing something wrong. Then I read the reviews on the Lews and got one for Christmas and am so glad I did. I was casting like a pro right out of the box. The reel is silky smooth and super light. After many mistakes buying rods and reels and boats I am a firm believer in just buying as high quality as you can afford the first time so you're not stuck with stuff you don't like or use.
  10. What would you guys recommend for a crankbait reel? The Tournament MG, BB1, or Tournament Pro Speed Spool. Obviously in a 5.x ratio. I have a Tournament pro speed spool now and love it but am not sure if it is sturdy enough to handle lots of cranking vs the heavier duty MG and BB1. Should I be concerned about the lack of magnetic brakes on these reels? Again this is only for cranking. If I can get one of the others and save a few bucks its a good thing but if the TP is worth the difference compared to these two then I will just get another one of those.
  11. Nice! I am looking for a crankbait reel and was looking at the Tournament MG but this is an option as well. The only thing I am worried about is that I use a Tournament Pro Speed Spool which has both sets of brakes, where these two only have internals. Not sure if it will make a difference since when bombing crankbaits the internal brakes are more important during the cast.
  12. If my wife ever saw all of my stuff on display I don't think I would be able to buy anymore lol
  13. Thanks for the replies guys. I will check out some of those boxes and see what will work. I went and got to use my new jigs today and they didnt disappoint. Best fish of the day on 1/2 oz blue craw at 3lb 10oz

  15. Hey guys, just wanted to give a shout out to Mike at Siebert outdoors. Last week I got in touch with him about some jigs. I informed him that I am new to jig fishing and didn't know what I wanted or needed. He was willing to put together a kit of his most popular jigs along with some Rage Craws and I must say that I am impressed with the quality of these jigs. Up until now I had only had access to mainly Strike King and Booyah jigs but have noticed they were really lacking in quality, between poor paint and skirts breaking after one day they were trashed. Mike's are all wire tied with a better weed guard and a much fuller skirt. I am excited to try them out this weekend and I will report some results. If anyone is on the fence about ordering from Mike, go for it. You will not regret it. Now for the problem I have.. I have all of these new jigs but need some way of organizing them. How do you guys organize your jigs?
  16. I am very afraid of the Bait Monkey during this winter. Less time fishing in the winter = more time on the internet. More time on the internet = Bait Monkey teeth marks.
  17. I am a member of a local area of lakes. The reason I pay is because living near the city there are no local lakes that allow use of a gas outboard. Also, the money keeps the traffic down. There are three large lakes with many species of fish and it also includes a campground area to use. For me and a guest it cost $850 a year for membership fees. It is steep I know but in order for me to be able to use my boat I would need to drive nearly two plus hours into NJ so it saves me money on gas and vehicle maintanence. We split the fee so for $425 for the year each we have unlimited access to the lakes and camping. This is my first year there and between the membership and the help of Bass Resource, my buddy and I are having our best year fishing ever.
  18. New Duckett White Ice, 15 jigs from Siebert. Also sold some stuff so I got some extra cash burning a hole in my pocket..
  19. Welcome. Is there such thing as a mid-mid life crisis? I need a Ranger. Oh I also call them Sunnies too.
  20. Welcome. I am not too far from you so feel free to invite me to your house on the St Lawrence

Welcome. I don't think I am too far from you.
  22. I second this. I am also dreading the "offseason". Stupid hard water..
  23. Seen the Foos twice. Best shows I have seen. Dave is awesome.
  24. I agree. I don't want to buy a POS but at the same time I know the important money is invested in the bottom contact rod. I am also new to crankbait fishing but I want something to increase my chance of success. I will be getting the Lews tournament MG in the 5:1 ratio to pair with the rod. I don't really have a clue which brand rod I am going to get. Probably between the brands of Dobyns, Duckett, Falcon, Powell and Phenix but I have to do some more research.
  25. I was in this same boat. I ended up going with the Duckett because I was looking for something sensitive and loved using my buddy's Duckett. I have not used Dobyns but from everything I have read the Savvy isn't nearly as good as the Champion but it was also almost $70 more than the Duckett and Savvy. I like the split grip and how light the duckett is in my hands. With my Lews Tournament Pro Speed spool it is super light and a pleasure to fish with. I agree with Brian that the power is weaker but it still handles everything I need it for just fine. Bottom line is that everything is opinion, until you get both in your hands its tough to say, which is what makes picking a rod so difficult sight unseen. Someone needs to come up with a rod demo program like what TW has with reels.
