Bassboat pain -- removing the plug!
I installed a screw in plug on my Ranger. I think they are made for kayaks.. anyways it works fine. We have to remove the plugs here as well, but the DNR is not too anal about it. I asked an officer once if it would be okay if I put the plug in when going from my house to the river and he said that is fine as long as everything is dry.. That way I don't forget to put the darn thing in! My buddy leaves his plug out until we are at the ramp, he tapes a sticky note to the wench handle that says "plug".

What kind of minnow is this?
Some kind of stoneroller would be my guess. Probably too big for a dace and its not any kind of panfish/game fish. Search through the native minnows, daces, and stonerollers for the area it was found.

What kind of minnow is this?
Fyi striped, white, and hybrids are not even in the same "family" as black bass... And look nothing like them when juvies. They look more the shape of a shad or bluegill, whereas a black bass has the long minnow-like shape with a big flat tail.

Need some advice on running multiple units
Now that my new elite 5 arrived i can tell you that i have no interference between my two lowrances. I have them both on the same power cord even, which is usually a huge no-no but surprisingly it worked just fine. So dont hesitate to pick one up if you see it on sale.

Sick or post spawn skinny?
I was going to say the same thing. The body looks half the size it should be, looks like it is starved.

Speaking of colors bleeding...
They are made of plastisol. All dyes are not made equal, some do not combine with the material and leak out of the pourus material. The melted bait/box is because of a chemical reaction with the plastic and the plastisol.

Are modern Troll Motors 'better?'
3 batteries, runs on 36 volts. You will probably also need to upgrade wiring if going from 12v to 36v. 36v takes 8 gauge minimum.

Dragonfly 5dvs input
A lot of places have the elite 5x hdi chirp for 299 right now. Its a pretty decent unit IMO. it has regular sonar and down imaging, no gps. Better than the dragonfly? Dont know

Need some advice on running multiple units
Nobody can tell you if they will interfere or not, its different with every setup. There is "noise rejection" on the sonar menu that may be able to tune it out. If not, simply hit the "stop sonar" function when not using the console (cant be at two places anyways!). You can run it without the transducer in the water, no problem. When the transducer on the trolling motor is out of the water there will be no interference so you wont have to "stop sonar" on that one. Fyi cabelas sold out of that unit on monday night, and rightfully so! That was a hell of a deal, glad i got one. By the way i am rigging it the same way you wanted to- its going on the bow and i already have one on the console.

Poll: The Best Lure for Quantity
I voted trick worm. If the stick was 5" I would have voted for that.. just never caught any fish on 3" sticks. I've caught plenty on cut down 5" sticks that were 3-4" but thats not the same as a 3" stick.

Live well help!!
You can make a good re circulation system by mounting a bilge pump inside your livewell. Just mount a spraybar on the top and use a short piece of 3/4" flex tube to connect it. Its really an easy install.

Are modern Troll Motors 'better?'
What do you mean by slop? In the foot control steering, a delay in engaging the prop, or the whole unit flexing? Probably best to just upgrade. Pick your brand, they are both good. Get the biggest 12V you can find or upgrade to 24V and have more power. Sell this one you have for $75 and put it towards the new one.

Humminbird service....
I have been looking for a helix 5 di on sale for the last month. I need a 5" screen to replace an older unit and the lowrance issue had me ready to switch brands..... then cabelas had to have the elite 5x HDI for $199 this weekend... so... yeah, still stuck with lowrance.

Humminbird service....
Mine was in need of replacing and was out of stock. They would not upgrade me (even offered to pay the difference) and took 6 weeks to get them back in stock. This was lowrance though, sorry to hijack your thread!

UL's for Dropshotting?
Not all UL are created equal. I have some that are very light and others that are stiff. My st croix panfish 6'9ULF would not fair well to a bass sized drop shot, I do drop shot with it all the time but for panfish with tiny light wire hooks and 1/16oz weight. I have a st croix premier 5' UL that could handle a bass drop shot no problem, ive jigged 1/4oz jigs with it vertical jigging walleye by bridge pillars. When I do drop shot for bass (not often!) I use a ML st croix premier 6'6 with 10# braid.

Humminbird service....
Glad to hear they are quick on their "tracking" when they get it.. but I suppose its needed when you could be dealing with $5,000 items. Lowrance was the same way for me, took 2 days to get there then I got an email immediately saying they received it and it was in the "processing" stage. Took about 6 weeks to get another email though. I hope humminbird is faster! Good thing is, its the "off season" for the US repair facilities so they shouldn't have too many units ahead of you.

Worn out plastics ( senkos )
When you post something on the internet its out there forever. Unless you get a mod to lock this topic, you will continue to get responses. They arent what you want to hear, as nobody is going to take your side on littering, but don't get upset. We all want everyone who reads this thread to fully understand how bad tossing baits in the water really is, im sorry if it hurts your feelings if you get called out on it. by the way, you asked about "tossing torn baits in the water", not losing a plastic to a bite, so dont turn the thread around to save yourself the ridicule. littering is defined by intent or recklessness disregard, losing a bait to a bite is neither so it is not littering... Unless you are skin hooking a wacky rig senko or something. sorry to be harsh, thats the way it is. I will say it again because i can, dont toss them in the water!

Worn out plastics ( senkos )
They decompose fairly quickly. Ive found/recovered my own baits (custom hand pours) that ive lost. The first year they swell up like in the picture, 2-3 years and they are pretty much gone. Hooks are faster, i found a specific bait last year that i lost the year before and it still had the EWG hook in it. The bait looked 3x the size it was and the hook was almost rusted away, only the shank was left.

Deal alert.. Lowrance elite 5x chirp on sale at Cabela's - 199 with $50 visa gift card rebate
If you are talking about interference, there is a "stop sonar" button on the main menu. Hit that when you leave the console and there will be no issues! I bought one earlier today. Cant pass up that price!

Worn out plastics ( senkos )
Never toss in the water! I toss them in the bottom of the boat and then clean them out when I get home. Same for weedguard trimmings and skirt trimmings. If beating the banks I just slip them in my pocket.

Yamaha S.H.O. or Mercury Pro XS?
One thing to consider is idling/no wake areas. If you have to pass through these areas, the quiet 4 stroke is a godsend! You can actually have a conversation without someone on the next hilltop hearing you.
