  2. They are made for jigheads.... I use the 3" for walleye, I catch a lot of bass as well. I use the 4" as a shad swimbait when the bass are on gizzard shad. I use a 3/8 jig head with a 4/0 hook for the 4". Standard 1/8-1/4oz walleye jig for the 3".
  3. He used LFS to tag the listing and make it come up when buyers are searching for speed spool lfs reels. Since its not in the description it doesn't violate ebay rules. Gotta watch that! Good price on a gently used SS though, they usually sell for 75-80 on the bay.
  4. I have used the 130. The hooks were sticky sharp and the rings appeared solid. If you are chasing musky or big pike I would ABSOLUTELY change them out to XXS hooks and XS rings, but the stock are just fine for bass. Natural (perch, sexy shad, or rat-tat-tat) for cloudy days, and clear for sunny days. I think they call their clear "phantom" or something like that.
  5. You had junk wire. Bending the wire will not cause it to break unless the wire is junk. How do you think we make inline spinners? Same wire, same bends, yet they hold up to 15# pike. There is no reason a quality spinnerbait will break by bending the wire around the tie. I have never had one fail. Spent many hours chasing pike with my bent spinnerbairs (bent so wire leader can be used), have never seen one break.
  6. Hognose sucker maybe? Some type of sucker no doubt.
  7. I make my own closed eye. I buy spinnerbaits with a long arm and "twist" it around the line loop, creating a closed eye.
  8. Tuf-line did that once. Gave away a 50yd pony spool of 50# braid for completing a survey and registering to their mailing list. Worst line i ever used! Seaguar is my favorite fluoro.
  9. Was watching a show on youtube and the host kept saying the ned rig imitates a dead worm perfectly... TO ME. The ned rig mimics a DRAGON FLY LARVAE perfectly. I catch quite a few bass slip bobber fishing for walleye during the summer months, unfortuantely with walleye you have to let them "take the bait" when fishing leeches so when a bass hits instead of an eye they can get gut hooked easily. Quite a few years ago I started noticing a common forage in the stomachs of these accidental bass catches.. dragon fly nymphs. Bass (and all species) LOVE them. Now, since most of you are looking at this going "no.. it looks like a worm or a minnow", hop on youtube and look up some underwater footage of how dragonfly nymphs move on the bottom. Its a ned rig.
  10. I have quite a few white, black, and brown ones also. They are one of my favorites for a specific stream I fish so I stocked up a few years ago. They definitely catch fish!
  11. 1/24 rooster tails in BROWN are a great stocker lure. If you know where they are, my favorite is a 1/64 jig head with a gulp mini earthworm on it. I mostly do this in creeks but there is a lake near me that gets stocked. The trout run to the logs and stumps, so I just toss my little worm jig right next to the stump and jig it. They can't resist it. https://store.yakimabait.com/product.php?productid=16410 http://www.barlowstackle.com/Rooster-Tail-132oz-P2488C295.aspx http://www.ebay.com/itm/202-1-32-oz-Rooster-Tail-With-Propeller-Blade-14-Treble-Hook-Select-Color-/141711175807?var=&hash=item20fea4f07f:m:mYWDjW1bHT31fRvU0sWh9Uw
  12. There was a 2 week run in july about 5 or 6 years ago where someone stumbled on that pattern. I didn't believe it until I saw it work. 3/16 finesse jigs (silver/black) with a large fathead on it. We were catching walleye, smaliles, and largemouth. You won't be able to do a full cast, if that makes sense.. You have to lob them, a spinning rod would be best, otherwise your minnow will look like a deep fly into center field. We were just pitching them into current seams.
  13. I need to get into throwing soft swimbaits more, and was hoping you guys could help me pick a couple to try. I'm looking for the skinny profile ones, for when the bass are chasing emerald shiners. When they are on the shiners they are tough to catch, about the only thing they will hit is jerkbaits or slim swimbaits. I went on TW site and clicked on swimbaits... holy cow! Overwhelmed was the feeling. I need 3.5-4" size to "match the hatch" but would also like some 4.5" as well. Can anyone recommend a brand or model? I don't want hollow belly, I want solid baits in the slim profile for use on jig heads and keel weighted hooks. Thanks!
  14. First step is to see what is legal in NH. The people I know who FEED deer (not baiting for hunting!) use apples, pears, peaches, anything sweet.
  15. If someone wants to put packages together, you can get the rapala fish grippers at TW for $8-9 if I remember correctly. Pick up 10 of those and 10 scales and only be in it for $150 ish. Could probably sell the kits for $25-30 each.
  16. Because the KVD cranking rod is a graphite composite with a moderate action. it is okay for crankbaits but that is about it. You would never get the hook to penetrate a fish with soft plastics.. Not to mention how heavy (weight wise) they are, it would wear you out fishing t-rigs all day. I have the 7'4 MHM KVD tour and it gets used for one bait, square bill crankbaits, and that is IT.
  17. I throw a 1/4oz on a 7'M F quantum tour rod with a lews reel and 14# fluoro. I throw a 3/8-1/2 on a 7'MH F vertias with a lews reels and 17# fluoro, or 50# braid depending on structure.
  18. split ring... wait a minute, we have 6 people (7 including me) who replied split ring but only 4 votes for it?
  19. This one seems real popular with the youtubers who weigh fish on camera. Most have shown it to be spot on accurate. http://www.amazon.com/ReelSonar-RS102-Digital-Scale-Grey/dp/B00W9ME9AE
  20. My favorite would be a cabelas walking dawg. It flat out catches fish, and the explosions in open water are heart stopping!
  21. If it comes with crooked guides you simply call up the place you bought it from and tell them the rod is defective. I've never heard of a company that wouldn't honor a return for a defective rod! Most will even pay the shipping to send it back. If you find a company that won't take the return, then simply call up your CC company or paypal (whichever you used) and open a case through them. As long as you don't send a check or cash in the mail, you are covered- so don't worry!
  22. Yep, thats a smallmouth! They are often over-estimated on weight because they fight so hard. Judging by the mouth size compared to an adult man's thumb, and the length of the fish I would put it right at 2-2.5. Looks to be about 16-17" and pretty skinny. If your 6# largemouth was the same length then that would put this smallie at 23" or so and about 8-9#? Don't think so! Or your 6# largemouth was 16-17" long. Once a smallie his the 4# mark they look totally different, you hear the term "footballs" tossed around but that is exactly what they look like. They are almost as wide as they are long! A 4# smallie is usually right at the 20" mark and would have a mouth almost twice the size of yours. Look at the smallie in my profile picture, look at the mouth size compared to my hand. That fish was 4# 1oz and 20" long.
  23. Whats (in your opinion) the best oil and grease to use on a fishing reel? Sorry if its a trade secret, just ignore me if I'm out of line for asking. I've mostly used hot sauce in the past, but hate the red dye. Lately I have been running some Benelli gun oil that came with a gun I bought. I have to say its been good stuff! I've been using it since last sept and have had nothing but good results, even with ice fishing reels in -0 temps.
