  1. No BPS within 350 miles from me...
  2. Well... I have reached a new low for blind obedience to the baitmonkey... the UPS delivery guy now knows my house by my name! he gets to his truck and and sees my address and knows right where to go. and he says hes jealous. and his name is greg...I like greg.
  3. No they only have the "classic" actions. but at 180$ I would sooner go to TW and get the Fenwick Aetos cranking rod for 130$
  4. I never insinuated that you did. My comment about my rod was to illustrate that when holding my rod out in front of me and swinging for the fences the tip of the rod moved over 12-15 feet and I could tell that i didnt get a proper hookset. so that means that the Approximately 30 yards of line stretched an additional 12-15 feet. I do not worry about line stretch, but I do take it into consideration. it is a factor and it directly correlates to sensitivity. And believe it or not I think that you are in the minority as far as thinking that stretch isnt a negative. I do have a friend that feels the same way as you do. he uses stren magnathin for just about everything. and the smallest line he can get away with. usually 2-6lb line. and the 6lb is what he uses on his casting gear. he loves the stretch but after every fish he has to cut off 15-20 yards of line. To each their own
  5. There has been a lot of discussions here about using a casting rod for weightless flukes. the consensus is that it is difficult and will be expensive, but not impossible. yes a shallow spool helps as the lighter weight will help and also less line = less weight. All in all I would recommend a spinning setup for this.
  6. Been there, Done that! its always a bummer when something unexpected happens. it sounds like you and these fine gentlemen have this issue nailed down.
  7. Thanks for the chatterbaits BTW. they look nice. Thanks for all the replies. So here are the rods that I have been looking at: 1. Abu garcia Veritas Winch - MH 7'6" 2. St. Croix Mojo - MH7'0" Graphite 3. Cabelas Tournament ZX "Crankshaft" MH 7'5" Those above are the 3 primary ones due to the price Others I have considered are: 1. Fenwick Elitetech bass - MH 7'2" 2. St. Croix Premier - MH 7'0" 3. Powell Inferno - MH 7'0" I will start by saying that the last glass rod I had was a disappointment. It was a quantum and felt heavy and hollow. I dont know how better to describe it. That said what ever rod I buy will be at cabelas because I have 25$ off. So I will get a chance to get my hands on it so I will atleast get a feel for it so I am considering the mojo glass rod. Asife from length is there any other advantages glass has over graphite? Again thanks for your input.
  8. I am in the market for a crankbait rod that will handle deeper crankbaits. I have a veritas Medium rod for crankbaits now and its gets overpowered by the medium to deep cranks. looking for suggestions for decent rods on the lower end of the price spectrum.
  9. That's not necessarily true. Seaguar invizx has quite a bit of stretch, I know this from my own experienxe. I had a big smallie eat a worm on a long cast and when I set the hook with my 7' rod I didn't even feel the fish move. The tip of the rod moved from straight out in front of me to the 9 O'clock position behind me. So I can tell you some lines have alto of stretch.
  10. First Question; have you tried braid or Fluorocarbon? Second Question; what line are you using now? and why are you unhappy with it? Things to consider: all mono will stretch. some more than others but to this day I cant say that I have seen stretch tests done for mono. even fluoro which most companies say has low stretch has been proven to (in some cases) have as much stretch as mono. and also there is no way to test sensitivity accurately so they all say "most sensitive" If you want a good all around line get some yo-zuri hybrid. NOT the ultra-soft!!!
  11. also consider the cabelas advanced angler tackle bag. there are four sizes and I would recommend getting one bigger than you think you will need. although unless you have your own boat or a family members boat I would say that the SUPER magnum would be TOO big. I have the magnum and its huge to me.
  12. in that range I will say that You will get a great rod from any reputable company. rods I would recommend that I have used would be St. Croix Avid, Dobyns, and the Pinnacle Perfecta DHC5!
  13. That's what mine is used for.
  14. Yeah I suppose it would quite expensive to start over. I bought the version without boxes and just went to TW. When I first started I had 2 - 3.25" boxes, 2 - 2" boxes, and 4 - 1.38" boxes. Baitmonkey hit hard this winter and I have swapped the 2" boxes for 3 thin boxes to fit more in. The Custon boxes help the OCD in me that hates digging out a crankbait and pulling out 5.
  15. fair enough, but if you went to all thin boxes you could get 12 boxes in there. The bag holds (at least in the upright posotion) 16 1/2 inches worth of any thickness plano 3700 series boxes.
  16. There are different levels of gear and to some people, this site included, your gear might not even be considered high end. Its a game of diminishing returns when you get above the 200$ mark IMO. Did that stop me from getting a revo mg and an elite 8 reel instead of just getting another pair of revo stx's? Nope. Point is there is a difference in the low end gear and what you bought. To you...
  17. It looks like youre using the 2" thick boxes that come with that bag. You can get more in the bag if you switch to the 3701 boxes that are thinner. The only think that doesn't fit in the thin boxes are my buzz baits. Also if you wanted to you could get even more in with the 3771 custom divider boxes.
  18. If you want seedless get the mega strike shake2 pro heads. By far the best shakeyhead.
  19. That is a bummer that you got a dud. I would have to say that i have not had any issues with either of my 2 stx's so this winter i bought a premier, gen 3 winch, mgx, and an elite 8. All abu garcia reels except for my lews bb1 and tp. I to have dealt with abu garcia cs and they are top notch. I had a guide insert fall out on a veritas and i got a 2.0 in return.
  20. Im not sure about their treble hooks but their work hooks with the X-points are amazing. I put those hooks above the owner cutting edge and the trokar hooks.
  21. I still have 2 of these from a LOOOONG time ago. I dont remember having any issues with them. But as a kid i used a snap for everything.
  22. Its a great tackle bag. Fits a ton of gear. 16" worth of plano 3700's and 4 3600's. With more pockets everywhere. And even 2 tool holders on the outside.
  23. Then you dont need to spend as much as i did to be organized. The cost was worth it to me though as there is a finite amount of space and i want as much in there as i can have.
