  1. It's true. They're more practical than you think. It's only my most expensive reel by about $40, which isn't much considering the jump in tech and function between my BB1 Pro and the Exsence, and they are on different planets when it comes to usage. I also like the 8.1 ratio more than I thought I would. Also the heaviness works in its favor when it comes to balancing out longer and heavier powered rods.
  2. Definitely an inevitable someday haha... That would make a great crossover brackish/light saltwater rig too.
  3. I have a "that guy". He takes FOREVER, and it doesn't even matter what it is. He is always late, and every little step is as if he was a 80+yo man... Loading the boat could take an hour lol. Stopping for gas? Who knows. Could be a coffee, a sandwich, a bathroom break, all of the above and maybe a pony ride too if they've got 'em.
  4. I use a 7'3" 13 'Envee' black HXF and Lew's BB1 Pro with 40# Smackdown. The only change I'd make is to swap the Lew's for an Exsence DC but that's more of a "someday" than a need. Killer rig.
  5. A random grab bag of my favorite frogs ever just showed up. Firetiger! Whoa!! I may have to put in a bigger order just to see what shows up haha http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg61/mtc0907/Fishing%20Photos/B34A8D98-B276-4000-9E0D-2415EB4FB070_zpsg1kkfqej.jpg[/IMG] (Can't figure out what in doing wrong with the photo attaching, never had a problem before!) I. Love. Kicker. Frogs.
  6. I started off with 1/4oz. Once I developed a feel for how it worked I kept dialing it back incrementally. I still am not a very big fan, as I don't use electronics so unless I know of a drop off, structure or deep hole it's not going to do a lot for me.
  7. I am still learning... I must say though, upping the weight in the beginning really helped me gain a greater competency.
  8. It really depends on the boat, but generally yes. It's a means to float on water, whatever fits your budget will fit the bill and if it's got a decent motor, TM and trailer You're already at that price anyways.
  9. I remember reading the L Speedstyle comes in more like UL Zodias by a guy who owned both on TT fwiw. Of the choices, I'd likely go Zodias.
  10. Hahaha nailed it! OP if you're still interested I have a hundred bearing reel for sale as well, WICKED cheap.
  11. There are as many different opinions on this as there are stars in the night sky- that said the Big Three everyone seems to feel they need is black, white and some kind of natural color (usually brown or green) I am a big fan of the LiveTarget and Lunker Hunt frogs, but the pad crashers are good too for entry level frogs.
  12. My condolences, OP. That's terrible.
  13. Hey I never called it a "recovery group"... Let's be honest, none of us is ever going to leave our abuser in this case.
  14. Be warned: They are the tribble of the jerkbait box. They will take over if you aren't careful!
  15. When the frogs, peepers and bugs are out in full force it's go time for night fishing to me.
  16. That's a slippery slope! Out of all the jerkbaits in the whole darn world I think trick darters are my favorite. They just catch fish like no other hardbait for me. Enjoy!
  17. You know it's illegal to fish for manatees right? Lol
  18. That's just brutal. Talk about a close call- safety first out there! Dang!!
  19. Yup! Thanks for beating me to it. Great seller and great prices!!
  20. That 40% off Megabass guy is back at it again. 35% off right now. Grabbed a few more trick darters because why not?! I keep finding great colors when he has these sales.
  21. It's what I do when it's nice out and I have a day off... Run out to the water and stay there!
  22. With a drill press. I didn't want to put it in the iron worker and risk bending it. And Jtrout it took a couple hours of hand work. An Oxy-Acetylene torch with a rosebud head, a 4lb hammer, a belt sander and a 4" wheel with some form of lighter abrasive polishing is all you really need to make one in basic form.
  23. Hey man pee on whatever you want but Megastrike seems a little more sanitary The cool thing is that much like goldfish, they will grow to suit their environment and forage level- They can get into the 2' range given a big pond and lots of food. I could see why people would bowfish them although I can't imagine they'd be very delicious.
  24. CXX I love how stretchy it isn't.
