  1. Well it's a 3 power rod and that may effect your casting distancebut when it comes to light baits, the obvious choices are PXL-R and Aldebaran/Core 51 IMO. No no clue why you're throwing 1/16th baits on a 3 power though. That's going to be less than ideal, that's for sure. I have an 852 JWR and find the tip a but stiff for those light baits. Get a ML if you're talking between 1/16-1/8oz in all honesty.
  2. I love mine. Paired with an Ito Ai Alphas variant, it fits my hand like an absolute dream. As all things though, it's completely subjective and some may not like it.
  3. Yes generally too pricey though. All the reels I'm looking at are several years older.
  4. Eyeing a new spinning reel for my 7'1" MLXF Envee for next season, and I'm kind of suck between a few options. Torn between an older twin power MG 2500S and a Complex Ci4 of the same size, approximate vintage but with the HG gearing. I don't want to go any lighter (Rarenium etc) because of where the balance point in the rod is, but I don't have a problem with the extra weight in the twin power simply because it's a twin power. Also the Soare- is that just another twin power, and is any non-BB (Ci4) version the Japanese/MG internals? There is just about no information out on those darn reels. While I doubt I could go wrong with either, any thoughts or input from anyone as I weigh my options? Kind of torn here, but in the best kind of way. Main usage will be finesse weightless T-Rigs, tiny jig duty for things like the Ned rigs/ Mono Spins and smaller jerkbaits like the Trick Darter and 110 Jr. and I will be using 4kg Gliss (10# Smackdown if the Gliss doesn't measure up). Thanks in advance for helping in this first world problem. It's causing me considerable hand wringing.
  5. I have both the BB1 Pro and the Curado I. Both are great reels for sure, I guess it would hinge on what you were using it for. I employ my BB1 Pro with 40# Smackdown for frogs, big jigs and swimbaits/glides with a FC leader because it has a higher drag and more spool capacity. The Curado is filled with 12# Tatsu and is mainly used for cranks, jerkbaits, swimbaits and spinners. Wouldn't change a thing about either (but I wouldn't be mad if the Curado turned into a Met DC overnight)
  6. They separate the baits really nicely and have little pads for the hooks and everything. Greens, blues and reds all have slightly different options but they're all really cool.
  7. Ugh I always keep my eyes peeled for those Shimano boxes but they're always priced super high. Someday... Anybody want to sell one btw? (Sorry the monkey never sleeps haha)
  8. Nice. I have a 7'1" ML 13 E-N-V-Y (for some reason BR now treats "envee" as a swear word haha) and man do I love that thing. One of the most versatile rods in the quiver for sure!
  9. *Had to* take advantage of the TW sale on Seaguar before it expired by way of some 15# Smackdown. That meant that I got to spend like $21 that I saved by getting it on sale on my way to spending $50 for the free shipping. Picked up some green Gliss in 8#, two packs of Hazedong Magnums and some weedless Ned Heads @1/10th.
  10. Yeah the FX suspends and also has the movable bill. Slightly more erratic and stalls nicely. Not hugely different than the 110 but a nice addition to the ripbait tray for sure.
  11. Thanks! It's definitely an exciting way to fish. Once I got hit a couple times there was no going back. I have to keep them reasonably sized as I have no dedicated swimbait setup but I really enjoy using them.
  12. It isn't even a company reputation to me... Anytime I see TW gear or stickers I give the point and wink "jeep wave" because I know that dude feels the grip of the monkey all too well.
  13. I've been bad. Another prop darter in chart back bass Another trick darter, this one in Pro Blue And a pair of 110 Jrs Baby Kingyo Baby Gill Merry Christmas to me!
  14. Y'know... As someone who actually uses Tatsu all the time and pays full price, this hurts me so deep on the inside.
  15. Well to be fair it's easier to take part in this one
  16. Yeah the onimasu looks awesome and that little gill glide they're working on is positively murderous. The bait monkey hath spoken!!!
  17. Yeah they don't ALWAYS work, but when the fish are in the mood nothing and I mean NOTHING draws 'em like the trick darters. They just stall so perfectly, you can just seem to match any cadence. Mix in the prop darters for about 6" deep looks and the +1 darter for a deep diver and they can actually cover a lot of water with them too. Just watch your drag with the katsuages and you're good. They're pricey but hot dayum I love em.
  18. I can't stop with the trick darters. Love 'em!
  19. I'd be rocking a slightly smallish suspending jerkbait.
  20. Me too! LOVE the pop max. It's like art you get to fish with. Just picked up this one in 'Hakusei Bass'.
  21. Question for my fellow Deps fans... Shudder tails. I'm oddly intrigued by them. Any thoughts? Observations? Experience?
