  1. Seriously, that 1875 is pure secks. Man I want that boat.
  2. That's like saying "why put up with women". Because when it's good it just feels soooooo good my man. No other way to put it hahaha
  3. MLXF spinning- light finesse, small bottom contact stuff like Neds and drop shot MXF casting- heavier plastics, jigs MHFglass casting- moving baits, topwaters and small swimbaits HXF casting- frogs, slightly larger swimbaits, rage rigs and big jigs And the last combo would really depend on the water. All the others are just staples to me.
  4. I'd either get one'a them thar Lamiglas 7'2" ML casting rods or a custom ML with some recoils.
  5. If you've been watching the court proceedings, the NFL is getting SHELLACKED. Wayne was a great pickup though, the guy has always been a class act and a great receiver. Excited to see some regular season play, and a Brady exoneration is right around the corner.
  6. Lol. And that my friend... Is called "transcribing your thought process to someone else just living their own personal dream" I don't make fun of others for throwing whatever it is that they want to throw, but I do love how some people just think that because people might like buying, having and using nice gear that they're somehow stupid, less of a fisherman or whatever else they'd like to infer- usually to make themselves feel good that they aren't so stupid, don't "need" an expensive lure to catch fish etc. etc. etc.... But it's flawed logic and it's a sad projection. What it is about an expensive lure someone else wants or has that makes some instantly defensive I'll never understand. I like having nice things and I work really hard to earn them. Whether it's handmade skis, high end fishing gear, really good shop tools or maybe some sweet A/V electronics at home. I don't worry about what other people are doing or how they feel about my choices because the money for their choices doesn't come out of my pocket. Transcribing my own school of thought to someone else has never made sense to me, and I understand that's exactly why there is more than one flavor of ice cream, many kinds of cars and infinite options for fishing... No two men are the same and whether the lure caught the fisherman or the fish, if the end result is a smile of satisfaction on that fisherman's face, then it was worth every penny and then some. I don't care if he even throws the darn thing- it he just wants to hang a Roman Made on his wall good for him. Rock on IMO.
  7. Makes me want to read the seller's feedback after I pop some popcorn. I bet it's a solid read.
  8. Lol... I can hear it now. "Oh yeah, she's in there. Seen 'er last week! Maybe you should use a helicopter lure!"
  9. Most Muskie guys use 100# flouro leaders, as metal is less durable than you'd think.
  10. It's a slippery slope, that's for sure. I think my first expensive bait was a MB Pop-X. Now I have a whole slew of 110s, deep-x's, knuckles and man... The glide baits now- let's just say between MB, Gan Craft and Deps I could probably have a sweet yak upgrade. Where I've been concentrating my efforts lately though is hoarding certain JDM frogs. They're expensive but man do they work above and beyond... I don't care that they cost more. I have bought all of them I could find on fleabay and I'm eyeballing them on foreign sites for after I buy ski passes for the family. It just never stops.
  11. Frogs are absolutely my favorite way to fish, but I will admit the learning curve is STEEP! It takes a lot of finagling and trying to figure out exactly works for you and your setup. Once you do though- look out! You're going to be doing it a lot!! Just a few small pieces of advice: (I'm just going to assume you're using a heavy rod, locked drag and heavy braid because you should be) Practice walking the dog until you could do it with your eyes closed. Its ability to draw strikes is well known and STILL underrated. I slay with frogs simply because I can squeeze a ton of action out of a tiny break in the pads. Maximize that as best you can. You won't regret it. If it's a missed swipe and the frog doesn't disappear, just leave it right there and twitch it a little. They may be coming back to hammer it and I've gotten quite a few on the return strike. Some people say to wait after they take it down but I do not- the second I see it disappear it's WHAM!- Hookset as hard as I can, rod tip up at 12:00 high. My reason for this is that a bass can spit something they deem to be a non-food item faster than you can blink, so take that little time they give you in a topwater strike to make that hookset. My percentage has gone way up since I stopped waiting for the fish to catch itself. They rarely keep it in their mouth for very long so make that second count. Bend the hooks out on stiffer frogs. Don't worry about it getting caught on stuff, that's just going to happen no matter what and what you're REALLY worried about hooking is the fish- you want every advantage when that strike does happen and trailer hooks literally catch every single little thing they touch so I don't use them much. Just bend out your stock frog hooks a little bit and your hookup percentage should go up. Also work on your agility. I don't care who you are- Joe Q Newbie or Dean Rojas- there are going to be times when that frog is coming at you like a bullet. Try not to let it hit you. I hear the fish laugh when it does haha
  12. I've had to stop posting fish pics to FB because inevitable there's 3 people I didn't call to see if they wanted to go out first. Now I just keep them to myself for the most part. That said, I have a few close friends I try SO HARD to get to come out and they are the worst at getting back to me or making time.
  13. Oh yeah, sorry. I'd say around 4-5'or so?
  14. Those complainers you're referring to are generally called "haters". We just ignore those people, they think some purist angle makes them better somehow. Which is fine if it makes them happy but it's not ok if they're going to be douches to other people living a different dream.
  15. Spray out the bag with a hose. Then take some baking soda and a little bit of dawn dish soap and some water to make a paste. Work said paste down into the effected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse it out with hydrogen peroxide. The chemical reaction of the baking soda and peroxide works for skunk spray, maggoty shrimp decay should be no problem. Once you're all done you might want to spray it out with the hose again just to get the white residue out.
  16. They're actually awesome. They get hit more than the 110s simply because they attract dinks the 110s don't though, so there's that. They have a really nice erratic wiggle when you rip them though.
  17. Whoa! What kind of swimbait is that?? Love the double top hooks!! Also I picked up an 1st gen MXF *** Black spinning rod for a friend after I saw them on sale for $59. It will be his first nice rod, as he's been fishing with Ugly Sticks for as long as I can remember. He is going to be so stoked!!
  18. We should just call this the "people suck" thread.
  19. Pshhhhh... I love 'em. I do greatly prefer the Slug-go SS though. Man do those things slay on a weightless t-rig!
  20. That looks cool! I'd downsize to the smallest frog style bait I could, and drop weightless worms or other creature baits on the outskirts of that weed pancake. They *should* get whacked on the slow fall.
  21. 15# smackdown is my line of choice for weightless applications. Suuuuuper thin and smooth. A little pricey but it's KILLER stuff. So thin I had to switch to epoxy-sealed eyes because the knots were getting caught in it and breaking under load. Man I love that line. Worth every penny IMO.
  22. Don't feel bad man, I broke my first *** is a darn car window. I was sick over being so careless.
  23. It does work for frogs. Really well too! You just have to make sure you aren't flexing the body too hard when you apply it because the mend-it "melts" the plastic in order to bond it properly so there can be a moment or two of panic at first- but not to worry it bonds and fixes just fine.
