Open Baitcaster For Bassing?
Will it work??? I dunno, I wouldn't take a chance and let the bass see it, they may not bite..... In all seriousness, if you are comfortable making lots of casts with it during an outing, then use it. At 9-10 oz, I could see it causing me fatigue after a long day.

The Fish_Whisperer Had An Appointment Today!
It's cool, I catch flak because of my pics at Eric's shack, but every fish in front of his shop were caught perhaps 50 yards away, he has riverfront property and across the street is parking for about 15 cars. When I catch a larger bass I like to give him a plug and take pics in front of his signs. He does good business selling snacks and drinks, worms, and minnows.

The Fish_Whisperer Had An Appointment Today!
Woke up at 4:45 this morning, and headed out to Lake Bowen Dam, up the road from my house in Spartanburg, SC. Been netting Blueback Herring and putting them under floats the past couple of weeks, and have been very successful. I'm only bragging today because I happened to get some pictures of my bigger fish this time, which will be added to the thread as soon as the pic taker gets off of work. Anyways, I walk down to the bottom of the dam, very rocky area with some deep pools here and there, and net about 4 herring throwing blind. Catch 2 bass with those, averaging 2,2.5 lbs. Short, but very fat fish. By now the sun is about to start rising, making everything kinda blue, not yet seeing rays of shine. So with some visibility I see a little flash right where the water starts pooling up coming off the dam, and make a throw. Feels rather heavy, and I pull up about 20 herring and a pound size bass. I suspect he was chasing the ball of herring up and down the length of the dam, and I just happened to be there when they were passing. I throw him back and fish until 8 without needing anymore bait. In this area, from 5 until 8 is when the bite is strong, usually getting a strike within 2 minutes of casting. They get aggressive and blow up the herring topwater bite style, and hold the bait for a while so you don't miss many hooksets. I catch about 8 bass, none under 2 lbs. After those I long cast towards the other side of the dam, and let the little jokers make the swim to the deep side, where I know bass stage up by a ledge for ambushes. Soon as they get in the strike zone I see my herring darting fast, making leaps out of the water. Expecting a big blow up, I start taking in slack line, and to my surprise it doesn't happen, and my shad dives down. Almost as soon as he quit skirting the top, the float disappears, and I let the fish run for 2 seconds before I drive it home. All said and done, I take the big bass to my friend Eric's bait shop across the street and have it weighed and picture taken before release. A fat, deep bodied female scaling at 7lbs 13 oz. My second cast after releasing the biggun wielded me another monster, weighing almost a full pound heavier at 8, 10. Pics to be posted around 6pm today.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
A cool pic of it's capabilities. I do not own one, nor am I affiliated with the company who makes these. I'm just exposing an option for those looking for a relatively cheap way to get around on the water and fish.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
It is. I've seen people put 13 hp on those and getting along pretty quickly. Have also heard of verified claims that you can pole that thing in inches of water. Very lightweight, can fit on a jet ski trailer. Not to mention, they just look awesome and very high quality.

I agree. That fish is no bigger than the fish of mine I posted second.

Talk About A Deceiving Pic...
I don't know the weight of this one. Remember I am 5'6 , 150 lbs average. from my waistline(where my belted jeans start) to the top of my shoulders measures 23". This fish here was held almost to my side and almost touching my chest. Notice the tail fin stretching below the band of the shorts, and the lips a little bit above the shoulders. You can say that the fish is about 25" long. I guess that fish to weigh around 4 or 5 lbs.

Talk About A Deceiving Pic...
This is my avatar pic... My fish was almost 8 lb. I'm 5'6, 145-155 depending on the week. My hands measure 7" from where my palm and wrist meet to the tip of my middle finger. You can clearly see the weight and fat of the fish bunching up and hanging below my right fingers, and an old basser told me that when they start to do that, they're starting to get big. Like you all, I call BS on the lunker I quoted.

Tackle On A Small Budget
This may not be the advice you are lookin for, but imo, the best way to stretch your dollars is to find what works at the waters you frequent and focus on keeping your arsenal stocked with those. A big collection may be nice to show off, but if they don't produce, then what's the use?

Tackle Bag For A Voyager With A Lot Of Tackle...
http://www.amazon.com/Bulldog-Cases-Extreme-Modular-Assault/dp/B0083OHTG8/ref=zg_bs_3222113011_26 Doesn't hold my collection by no means, but holds everything you need if you plan your day. Can hold a few medium utility boxes+ one large utility box, along with plenty of soft plastic storage in the smaller zip ups.

Found The Devil....horse
Would a split ring addition and a hook change be significantly beneficial?

Found The Devil....horse
Fishing my local dam today and the water was way down, bout a foot lower than normal. This exposed some plant life near the bank, and as I lifted my spinnerbait out of the water from my first cast, I looked down three foot ahead of me and saw a Devil's Horse lodged into the branch of some plant sticking out of the water. It has a black back with black stripes and a white bottom. Fairly decent shape all things considered. One thing I noticed is the points of the treble hooks all have a slight bend at the tip of them. Never seen that before.

How To Bass Fish At Night?
I disagree with imanidiot777's name, as his post shows he has intelligence. I do a lot of night fishing, and in some of my gallery pics you'll see me with a wig lamp (headband light). For me, its a must have when navigating trails and woods when i am bank fishing, and for the reasons he brought up. As far as casting at night goes... I agree with most everybody who has replied; you should be able to hear and feel when your cast is about to hit water and feel the line slowing up and descending using your rod.

Gift From My Dad...
The past few years my dad and I haven't done much because of his health, he just doesn't have the gas anymore. With fall approaching I can see us using the canoe for activities often as the weather will cool.

Delete Please.
This is some advice I gave to a guy who came down from Ny for a couple months.... The way I get permission is worked out pretty well. I show up wearing nice clothes, absolutely no fishing gear on first meet. Knock on peoples doors and start a convo, I tell em I like to fish and am interested in their property. Few tips tho... Tell them the only thing you take when you leave is trash and pictures. Let them know you practice catch and release UNLESS they have certain kinds of fish they actually want rid of. Sucks if you like to keep em but the best ponds with the giant fish are usually stocked by the owner and they wanna keep the fish in it. Also, mention you'll only fish by yourself or with a partner, and the partner will never come by himself or bring other people. If you aint the lazy type, offer to weedeat the banks once a month. Thats basically it man, show up wanting to talk only, be nice and look nice, talk like you listened in school, and you got a good chance. Lotta people dont like to use my method, but all they can say is no lol. Good luck.

Gift From My Dad...
My dad is a disabled vet, and hasn't had an active life for 15+ yrs due to cancer. His stories of canoeing the local rivers always intrigued me, and when he told me he was buying me this as a gift I got so excited as I'll be able to take him out to the places of his yesteryear... Grab n go! This is a large canoe that has an aluminum skeleton on the inside for extra stability and support. The canoe has two main seats, front and back with a portable seat situated in the center (see pic) that simply drops right in. It is a folding seat, it's red, so you have to look closely because it blends into the red background There is a bait bucket with an oxygenator that works off the 12V battery to keep your bait alive. The new front bucket seat is very comfortable and detaches if you want to use the regular seat for just your basic canoeing. This one comes with the boat along with the portable red one pictured in the center. A nice Garmin, hend held GPS, complete with the box and in excellent condition is also included and perfect for marking important or special locations, good fishing spots, or where you launched from if you're primitive camping. (Fishing poles pictured not included) The motor mount quickly comes off with two wing nuts. Also, the motor tilts up if you want to switch to to paddle. Not only comes with the two paddles pictured, but it also comes with an extra portable French paddle that quickly assembles and disassembles if needed. The Kubota motor propels the canoe quickly and quietly or slowly and stealthily and runs all day on a good, freshly charged, deep cycle battery (Battery not included). The beam is wide for stability and this canoe has a keel to keep it tracking in the water with minimal drift. The canoe has a strong aluminum rail at the top, and for such a sizable canoe it is easy for two people to manage. In fact, one fit person can manage alone if you have good balance - I did. The center beam has two positionable pole holders that adjust up/down and they additionally pivot 360 degrees. Grab your poles, drop in a deep-cycle 12v battery, and you can leave my home and take it right to the lake and fish. This is a really nice canoe setup that is big enough to give you the room you want and will surely appreciate. Items included: Motor, Kubota Motor mount, (removable) GPS, hand-held Front folding seat with back (removable) Portable drop-in foldable seat 2 standard paddles 1 portable French paddle 1 live bait setup with 12v aerator 2 Fishing pole holders 3 childrens life vests 1 adult life preserver Anchor and rope We've called and reserved a pickup time on monday. I have plans to browse for a depth finder suitable for this rig. This topic is open for discussion on your opinions of the rig, what modifications I could make, or tips on the operation and ownership of the rig.

New Rod&reel Combo/ The Bait Monkey Strikes Again!!!
Guys, the story is true... just with a lil flavoring to make it fun lol! My wife doesn't nag me about my addiction, she laughs it off. I am enjoying my new combo, in fact it's my lightest yet. I'm of a smaller stature (5'7) and the Lew's reel fits my hand quite nicely. Being a bank fisherman, I only bring one rod as mobility is key to the places I fish, and the 7' mh rod gives me a lot of versatility.
