How Long Will You Wait In One Spot Fishing To Get Bass ?
Depends on the season.. in the spring, I am planted like a tree at one spot all day in the summer I begin to move around in the fall I am chasing them all over the place in the winter once again I am planted like a tree at one spot all day

Crisis Of "epic" Proportions
Move I moved to my current fishing haunt 3 years ago and have been ecstatic at nailing big bass only a few minutes away

Late Fall/winter Fishing
Um cant get a sense of distance but I'd be near that feeder creek which drops nicely into 50 ft of water and looks to me theres a point there as well though the map is cut off there.. thats where I'd be if I were fishing from shore or boat to start off.. fishing the point and the drop offs looking for any structure on the dropoff or on the bottom

Is My Fishing Season Over?
What depth & time of day did you catch the big ones and on what lures?

Fishing Rod - Bass Fishing From Shore / Small Boat.
x2,3,4,5 on the longer rod.. when shorefishing the longer rods I have are MUCH appreciated.. 7'6 and 8'0 Casting is a problem from shore unless you are clear of trees. I usually have waders on so I can get clearance from shore in order to swing those long rods. Trust me nothing more frustrating when shorefishing when you see prime real estate for BASS you cant reach with a short stick!

Is My Fishing Season Over?
You guys must be from the NE Yes the temperature has been brutal. I caught 1 spinnerbait fish the other day and thats it.. The fronts which went thru the past several weeks have taken our temps down from 60s to 50s then another front yet again to near 40s. I'm afraid the fish are likely adjusting and sluggish right now and we may need to resort to jig and worm worked real slow. No not the real exciting action any more.. but the fish need to feed more for winter so if a warm front comes back thru Im out there again..

Jumping Fish
I dont even bother with rod tip high low to the side or wherever.. just angled enuf so that the rod is fighting the fish a bit with tight lines whenever that fish hits and jumps I'm taking in slack the fastest way I can keeping the line tight and comin in. If I cant reel it fast enough, I'll load my rod in whichever direction just enough to keep the line tight and let my reel catch up.

Spinnerbait Bite
Yes I mean walmart.. I guess each may have different inventory. The Bomber spinnerbaits were on clearance for 50 cents each.. these arent those no-package $1 spinnerbaits which dont look too well put together that Walmart usually sells.. these are in package. I use them for base spinnerbaits and for parts and custom make my own. I suggest customizing and learning to do it yourself. Since I did so, I've been able to put together some effective combos for my waters and I like them better than the spinnerbaits sold to the masses..and I can customize on the water if I feel I need to make an adjustment. I looked at the KVD spinnerbaits at Walmart and for $5 my spinnerbaits beat them on looks an details. You can play with differing layers of skirt color strands and make the skirt look relatively like native forage in your lake. Customizing and catching fish off your own combos can really give you some real confidence in spinnerbaits.. for those who are still not convinced in the effectiveness of this 100+ year old lure.. Now that we are in Fall more than half my catches are off spinnerbaits

Flip/punch Combo <$200
Save yerself even more.. You can try an IM6 7'6 Daiwa Jupiter Flippin Stick from Wally World.. circa $60 Its telescopic so it collapses down..serves me well for flippin

How Much Does It Suck...
Sometimes I get bored of it.. I mean is that all there is? Tempt, catch, look, release.. rinse and repeat.. bigger the better. Sigh... Then I get over that pretty quickly and look for another opportunity to go fish! Wooohooo

Bass Acting Weird
Deepwater fish often make me reconsider artificial lures..

Current And Water Flow
Really depends on the strength of current.. I'd look for cover or weeds along the edges and even bottom where current is reduced depending upon its strength. If its strong current, look for breaks in that or bends in the creek or where the creek transitions from a narrower area to a wider area where current will subside some. "Generally" barring chaotic effects, flow will be more visible on the top and middle of the channel since its the path of least resistance..similar to water pipe flow I'd expect the flow to be laminar.. if the current is strong then turbulent flow may occur and the effect is similar but the path is more varied and chaotic and the current cant be judge from surface inspection alone as the current underneath may vary..then all bets are off whats going on subsurface

Spinnerbaits
Yea theres just a few basic guidelines I'm sure you already know of and all else is customizable based on conditions.. The beauty of spinnerbaits is you can customize it to your fishing conditions.. on the fly if you want as well. The size of blades I use really depends on the weight of SB I am using and the speed of retrieve and presentation style I am targeting on that day.

Bass Acting Weird
Agree with this.. the cruisers I've seen along the weeds in fall are small-medium size bass The trailoff of topwater and the proliferation of my spinnerbait bites essentially tells me they're after the baitfish and its hard to compete with the real thing The only similarity to spawn is that they SEEM bite-shy but its really that its difficult to pin them down.. you need to catch them at the right place, at the right time, with the right lure.. and that to me is the problem with the Fall.. The deeper bigger bass are what I'm after but I havent been able to figure them out this fall as of yet.. when they come into the shallows during the rains they are MINE!

Spinnerbait Rod
Yea I agree, I use my flippin stick 7'6 for spinnerbaits as well .. it has a fast tip, good backbone, and launches them.. but I use bigger spinnerbaits..

Fall Topwater
Here in the NE 60's degrees, topwater bite is there but its nowhere near what it was in the Spring / Summer.. Quality of bite has also tailed off as the quality fish are deeper I still throw it first though but eventually end up going subsurface Spinnerbaits / swimbaits are getting the job done for me where the topwater left off..

Has Anyone Tried The Spro Bronzeye Shad Yet????
Spro Bronzeyeye Shad seems to have a more pointed head to allow better walk the dog However Kopper's frog head is already fairly pointed and IMO looks better. Spro Bronzeyeye Shad has the two legs inline on top of one another which reduces lateral drag allow for better walking However, cutting any frog's legs short should have the same effect. Anotherwords.. not that revolutionary to me.. it'll catch fish I'm sure cause its a topwater frog..

Tell Me Something I Dont Know...
That its about having a good time and enjoying the activity and the surroundings regardless if you catch anything or not..

How Come We Dont See That Many...
They are few but they're out there.. My casting rods are 6'0, 7'6, 8'0 6' is for topwater medium action.. else I'm going for length for distance.. which most r these days

Northeast Swimbaits
Im' in the NE and I've caught alot of 20"+ bass in my reservoir but none on swimbaits bigger than 6" I do throw swimbaits > 6" but have not gotten hits on them. Most caught on 4-6" lures

Morality Questions
I do what I always do (unless its a state record fish.. prayin') 1) Handle it gently without rubbin off its slime 2) Take a video of it on the weigh scale and measuring tape pulled .. and a video of releasing it as soon as possible (I used to take a video of fightin it in too but lost too many good fish doing the action shot myself) That's good enough for me as far as the memories.. no unnatural mounts for me and no killin' the fish. I love those fish!

Spinnerbait Bite
Rules work most of the time.. when they dont, you try things here and there to see what is necessary. Spinnerbaits in Spring and Fall seem to work well.. I skip spring since my preferred lures are in-play. Threw a bunch of topwaters and swimbaits yesterday along the weeds.. my favs. They didn't like it.. Finally threw out a few spinnerbaits in the same lanes.. they finally started bitin.. BTW I dunno if the Wally worlds near you have them on sale but the Bomber Bushwhacker Spinnerbaits are to be had on clearance for 50 cents a pop.. I bought half their inventory a month ago and went back today and they're still on clearance. Probably a lifetimes needs in Spinnerbaits satisfied in one clearance sale..
