Curious About Topwater
I throw topwaters all day too but only sparingly during the mid-day. That is, I'll throw them dawn/dusk but midday I will go subsurface and occaisionally do a topwater just to see if they're in the mood. I just dont think topwater is a percentage lure during mid-day from experience.. and I'd rather catch fish than not. exception:topwater frogs in weeds yes all day long

Central Nj Fluke Bite
Went out fishin today bite got bigger and better as the day wore on. Water clarity: stained Morning .. nothin tried everything to figure out where they were and what they wanted Noon .. 18" 3lb LMB finally on Chatterbait caught some crappie for fun.. rapala ultralight minnow Saw a follower on my chatterbait deep.. went with flukes jerked near bottom 2pm .. > 5 dinks 12-13" on Fluke (I dont bother weighing or measuring dinks) 3pm .. 16" 2.5 lb on Fluke (hook got em in one eye.. feel bad about this one) 18" 3.5 lb on Fluke 4pm .. 19" 4 lb healthy fighter on Fluke They were bitin but not hammerin'.. Behaving like an early Spring bite..maybe the aftermath of the storm still wearing off! Best part was as I was leavin' pair of fishermen confirmed they had sighted a pair LMB close to 10lb in the lake with girth like a volleyball. There is hope.. I'm not tossin' magnums in vain!

Zero For 4 Hours Of Fishing Today...
I too went out after those storms as well and practically had to bang right into them to get a reaction and it was darting off. The cold front shut them down.. even panfish just unresponsive as well.

People Keeping Every Fish They Catch
Really ticks me off when guys keep bedding fish esp. when the spawn is not bass season. I inspected 2 beds last weekend where I expected to see fry being guarded by the males and both males are nowhere to be found and the frys and eggs gone. Someone must have taken those bedding fish cause newly hatched frys dont go that far from the beds.

Phenix M1 Swimbait
Odd isn't it? A phoenix swimbait rod with a spincast? It works more than well for me! Problem-free fishing!

Spinnerbait Weight
Yes I use 1/2oz and I am contemplating using 1oz muskie spinnerbaits this year as well for LMB. If you want to burn them and have trouble keeping them down, add a beefy trailer. I like to slow roll mine so I've no problem but I will adjust trailer and blades to get it down to the depth and speed I am interested in.. Thats the beauty of a spinnerbait.. easy modification.

First Crappie
Was that a solo or one of many? Usually fish for bass but when I catch a crappie, I move to my ultralight and start chuckin grubs cause when u catch one, theres sure to be many many others.

School Me On Rods
Spinning rods are for spinning reels which hang on the bottom of said rod. Spinning outfits generally cast smaller lures farther but lack the winching strength of hauling in humongous fish like a baitcaster would Casting rods are for spincast or baitcaster reels which sit on the top side of said rod. Baitcaster outfits are what most bass fishermen use these dayz but I personally dont like the birdsnesting and the myriad of brakes to futz with With any kind of popping and walk the dog action where there is slackline I'd use a baitcaster for.. just askin for line snag trouble on the spinning reel spool when doing this Start from there unless you have specifics you have questions about..

First Spinnerbait Fish
Some people dont think spinnerbaits work cause they look like they shouldnt but boy are they wrong!

Super Glue
I really suggest the loctite gel superglue You dont want superglue all over the place and your fingers. The gel is much easier to control and put where you want it

Are You A "better" Fisherman Alone Or With Others?
Alone noone to impress noone to accidentally spook the fish lets one be more patient and focus on catching fish

Big Fish Feed Midday?
My biggest bass 6lb and most of the 4's and 5's were caught between 10am and 1pm. So I dont know if they exclusively feed mid-day but they certainly do bite during those hours.

Why Do I Torture Myself?
1) The place likely saw much fishing pressure 2) I am guessing the since it was a family outing that it was blue skies clear bright out.. prob clear water.. tougher fishing conditions as the fish can see you, see the lures clearly 3) In Jersey the fish are starting to spawn so those guys in the shallows are less interested in eating..just watch them in the shallows rolling over each other.. sometimes as fun as fishing

Fish Premium Location & Pay Yearly Or Fish Good Public Lakes
I prefer a good challenge at a public waterway.. esp if it above average.. What is bass fishing without the challenge? I personally wouldn't do it anymore.. Once in a while maybe a stop at one of thez managed fisheries to release pent up frustration if you have any but again the challenge is where its at.. I feel especially rewarded when fishin a body of water where everyone is saying theres no fish in there.. and landin' a big one!

Other Colors Besides Black

New Hard Baits Plastic Problem
Are you maybe storing these in your car under the hot sun? You gotta store your tackle in the garage or basement.. plastics in general dont like heat. Heating plastics are the same as age accelerating them.

Glass Rods For Chatterbaits
I like a glass rod for cigar topwaters but otherwise like a flippin rod for quick hooksets.
