Spinnerbaits should work in stained to murky try to vary your retrieve and make sure the spinnerbait is running true. Run the spinnerbait thru gaps in the grass and along grass lines starting at just below the surface and if no bites run them deeper and deeper. Alil cloudy surface chop from wind conditions helps as well.. and I find spinnerbaits peak in spring and fall.. I wouldnt forcefeed spinnerbaits if they dont want them.. if they are taking plastics, feed them plastics I was killin them on spinnerbaits from spring to alil over a week ago and just like that theyve fallen off so i move on..

I recently experienced the same thing the group of youngsters across the cove had caught a big fish likely a 4+ pounder and were parading around taking pictures which is fine but left it out alil too long and it when they heved it back it laid there but finally began to move.. whether it eventually survived I dunno I hope so.. but yes it takes probably 5-7 years for a fish to grow that big and to see it potentially killed and not perhaps experience a second spawn is sad. Kids do stupid things, young people so stupid things.. adults do stupid things but have less excuse. Also sad is that people leave trash all over the lake and I see it floating sometimes and along shorelines.. careless selfish lazy.

See how many big fish Ive had shake the lure out of their mouths with ease I think you can probably sleep alil better with the hope that they are good at getting those hooks eventually out of their mouths. I had a *** frog taken when my line snapped this morning as well and feel the same as you.. but I recall last year how the same frog was easily shook out of a big fish's mouth when she broke surface.. I think theyll be ok.

There are general rules of thumb which lures are better than others under certain conditions and seasons.. Ill not reiterate them here as you can look that info up easily. This said, I carry most of my tackle because on the water I make adjustments to figure out what they are likely to hit and what they are hitting and them certain lures get tied on for good where other rods get trial lures.. its a figuring out process. Not only that some parts of a lake are different.. near the creeks and weeds the water is generally less stained.. calls for different lures Other parts of the lake is stained and calls for other lures. Regarding your spinnerbaits, I dunno what water conditions were during the evening where u fish but I just no longer waste time with spinnerbaits in clear open water.. can you catch them.. sure.. but I have other better high percentage options for that. This thing about faster presentation after the spawn is a general rule of thumb. For example this morning I went out and its clearly weeks past prime spawn and were in post spawn the fry are out in schools and nearing an inch long. The fish were not aggressive.. faster presentation was getting no takers so I went finesse and landed a bunch with some patience. Adjust..

regarding best search bait.. it depends on conditions best search tool.. agree sonar is very helpful but the best search tool is still your experience and expertise as a fisherman

My most expensive rod I justified at 170 on sale as a swimbait rod I really needed with certain attributes. Otherwise I am an under $100 rod guy .. and the rod I use most is an IM6 I bought for $50 Money dont grow on trees and you dont need to spend a fortune to .. catch a freakin fish. This season so far I have caught upwards of 90+ fish now and the rods which are years old keep on tickin and workin

The retrieve depends on the mood of the fish No one answer here Sometime the aggressive fish will take the initial splashdown.. no retrieve needed Ive caught them on initial splash, steady, pause, and crazy erratic.. depends on mood and conditions

If you cant stop catchin fish.. thats a tough problem to have.. Imo you are using the best lure category anyway but if you need some variety, you need to go on a few trips with just the lures you want to get used to fishin and force yourself to use them exclusively. My guess is you toss them willy nilly haphazardly and quickly go back to yer tried and true plastics.

Yep had a similar size bass a month ago on a small lure like yers on my micro setup.. mine was a Strike King bitsy minnow but the hooks I think were to small and after it cleared the water, it eventually shook the lure off .. fun as hell whilst it lasted tho.. Once in a while the small stuff will get bit by a big boy

It should be post-spawn or spawn up there.. Imitate the forage colors but also bring a couple of chartreuse clown colors just in case.. cause bass dont always read the forum nor follow the rules sometimes..

I dont use it as much as I should but realize the worm is clearly king.. though spinnerbait has to be a close second. I think between spinnerbait and worms (flukes to me are worms) there is no need to have anything else most days.

Unless yer going for a record I dont think truely accurate scales matter too much. Scales need to be recalibrated and re-zeroed to be truely accurate.. you buy a scale which reads clearly in digital numbers does not mean its accurate.. it just means it reads clear. Most scales are like strain gauges and they change and creep over time and temperature requiring re-adjustment

I as well.. I usually carry a plastic bag and clean up alil in the areas I fish.. but its neverending.. every time I go i see new trash Its a bit selfish imo
