Huddleston Weedless Shad.. Impressions
Had concerns about the durability based on reviews but after two fish it seems ok still. The coating has a couple of small lines from the teeth but no tearing. I didnt like how it acted when it was suspended though so I keep it moving forward on the retrieve. I gave it a ton of casts this morning as well but nothing.. not a great day the fish werent biting a whole bunch but plastics still landed me my only fish a 4 pounder. So hudd got outfished again today.. good tool but is it worth the price? Jury is still out..

Polar Vortex In July? What Is Going On?
Yes this year has been strange and the normal timing season for bass has been off kilter topwater hasnt been as great as I experienced last year maybe cause of the late Spring had to figure the fish out alot more this year than last .. Raul, if its rainin' I'd be out there

Why Use 50+ Pound Braid?
Exactly.. I dont think this was acknowledged For braid, you dont get 50lb+ for weeds, even in a weedball the lunker isnt going to weigh 20 lbs weeds and all.. Its all about shock strength and the bigger diameter braid will give you more leeway in shock when setting the hook against the weight of the fish and the weeds together when casting a large swimbait, the line experiences shock when the fish swims against you then suddenly away and you tug at the same time against the fish and structure or weeds You need shock strength and even if one strand or two strands fray and break and i dont see it, I'd still likely be ok with 50lb for the trip

Huddleston Weedless Shad.. Impressions
Was using my flippin stick 7'6 with 30lb braid so I could get a good hookset.. its a bit too light to throw on a swimbait rod

Best Lure Dollar For Dollar
I'd agree here .. if it fallsback on effectiveness as well .. its really down to plastics (worms/flukes) and spinnerbaits both pretty cheap .. plastics tear too easily for me.. its why I didnt list them but they certainly are the most versatile and on the top in being effective

Detecting Bites On The Fall
I do both .. watching for any irregularities or changes in the fall of the line and feeling for any irregularities.. tightness/slack/sidestep Anything unusual if its not obvious I will quickly tighten to get a better feel to sense if its structure or fish. Finesse really requires you put all of your attention in and that inlcudes all senses you can apply

Huddleston Weedless Shad.. Impressions
You jig fisherman so just tune in on it and you can feel its tail give alil thumpin not as much as a 68 special but nonetheless a mini thump. I just started up on these this morning but I worked them jerked lightly thru hydrillas.. but the hookups I had with the bass and catfish were when I was just slowly steadily winding. You'll notice the tail kicks fast when you wind it too fast but if you wind it slow, the tail kicks more naturally slow. Like you I need to build more confidence in these and figure out when and where best to use but its comin' and I can see its merits. Good bait.

Huddleston Weedless Shad.. Impressions
Picked up one of these during the sale on the 4th. Was a bit skeptical at first seening such a dink swimbait but seeing it in the water swimming true with a subtle huddtail wag looks like a minature version of my Huddleston trout. Perfect for these Northeast waters I fish. Said lure swims true without much wobble letting the classic Hudd tail do all the moving. On my outing this morning I gave it the first and often last casts in the area I fished. Good news is that it got bit by a 2.5 pounder eventually.. and ok Ill count the big 16" bullhead catfish which also got landed somehow. Did not rip nor damage the plastic and it remains solid after these two.. Bad news is that my KVD plastics outfished it 4 to 1 cleaning up areas after the Hudd went through them.. could just be today. That said its a tool I welcome in my toolbox for days or seasons when fish are more willing to hit a subtle swimmer. Really like how it swims in the water..just like how a fish is supposed to. Pleasantly surprised..

What Color Trailer On A White Spinnerbait?
white head spinnerbaits go better with lighter color trailers black head spinners go better with darker color trailers too much contrast I find puts the fish off.. or rather I'm not too successful with odd contrasts but theres always one knuckleball fish willing to take one suited like a clown

Spinnerbait Blades : Hammered Vs. Plain Finish ?
See for yourself in the water.. when its clearwater and sunny its like a police siren flashing in the water on smooth blades.. a bit too much I generally dont fish spinners much in clearwater anyway so blades dont make much a difference in that respect for me. In stained you get moods where fish will hit either

Intex Rafts
If yer lure goes astray I dont think it'd take much to puncture those cheap leisure rafts. Dont get stuck in the middle of the lake when that happens.. youll lose some gear

Spinnerbait Blades : Hammered Vs. Plain Finish ?
I dont buy the explanation of hammered sending off flashes like multiple fish.. I think its just a more subdued flash so if the fish are a bit tentative I'd go with a hammered. Gold in stained and given that, I'd not use gold hammered. That being said both silver hammered and smooth polished have caught me big fish.. I'd rate them equal on ability.
