  1. Cant find that post anywhere
  2. Worse than swimming is when the canoe flips and you lose everything in it.. happened once when a friend of mine who was a canoe first-timer was in with me and he decided to stand up all of as sudden and adjust his crotch well he lost his balance and we started the rocking spiral towards a classic canoe flip..
  3. Hi, I have this lure in the boot-tail version and it seems the boot tail does not wag or have much action. I like to retrieve slow but I see it wobbling unnaturally during the retrieve.. is this because of those huge side fins? Is this bait meant to be burned fast? Is this strictly a bed-fishing bait for when gills are raiding nests during spawn? Have any of you experienced this fishin yer Ultimate Bluegill and or what mods did you make on it to make it swim true? How do you guys fish this thing and what am I doin wrong? Thanks in advance.
  4. There are times when color matters and when it seemingly doesnt When you throw white and black and get no bites and then throw green and start catching fish.. you cant say color isnt mattering
  5. Yes its good therapy for the modern life and theres so many more reasons to fish So many..
  6. I do more of a vertical hookset when in the canoe so that the force pushes more vertically into the water but yes I also lose alot more fish when fishing in canoe than when bank fishing.. its par for the course cause even when you anchor, the boat or worse a light inflatable..is still able to slip enough that you lose something in any hookset esp when its on a big tough bonehead bass On the positive side, you get to hook into more bass and reach more areas in the summer when in a canoe so I dont mind so much
  7. Time passes quickly when yer fishin.. no surprise ya spent so much time on the water.. its fun!
  8. Via my latest TW order, I got Savage Linethru Trout and Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill and got no bites on them yet but fished them a couple of times. The Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill is expensive and underwhelming in action.. I had to burn it to any decent boottail action and on the retrieve it wobbled unnaturally. The Savage trout looks great in the water tho.. any1 wanna buy a once-used blemish-free like-new ultimate bluegill?.. pm me am I fishin this wrong in some ridiculous way?
  9. I like them too except for the fact they can destroy everything else.. and thats the main reason I dont use them as much .. if I forget and leave them around, they can and have destroyed my containers and melted into my good lures.
  10. Sure that says somethin.. couldve tried a spinnerbait I cant tell what yer water clarity was but the black senko and blades may have given them better visibility and the fish could have been agressive that day totally poo pooin yer green worm Just the other day plastics werent doin it for my buddies with gills livin in the lake and this little kid was gettin hits on poppers.. guess what I whipped out Feed the fish!
  11. What maybe shouldve done is tried more things and adjusted What did that one bass you guys caught tell ya? The first bass I catch tells me alot and ill adjust from there..
  12. Spend a few hrs here and there before and after work but having a great July so far numbers-wise over 10 fish each outing easily but the size has dropped alil for me the last few outings with fish not eclipsing 18" but had some great battles with some bass so far.. been fun oh .. plastics are whats producing for me and spinnerbaits second
  13. I look for Spring and Summer fronts to fish in.. during and post. However, the first day after a front is alil "tougher" to figure out and they "generally" arent as aggressive but believe me u can catch fish first day after cold front and if you figure them out you can have a field day last front I fished 1st day after I landed over 10 fish.. they are usually bunched up.. u find em yer in for a treat 2nd day after a front imo theres no difference *caveat: I am not talking about massive Fall season cold fronts (like a tropical storm or hurricane) where temperatures drop drastically.. I skip a couple of days after those
  14. I use tungsten only where there is a size constraint where I need to pack alot more weight into a comparable area.. such as in weight inserts in balancing my rods Otherwise for weight in general it lead or steel
  15. It is theorized that 90% of fish are in the deep.. theory is not fact. It is said bass is a deepwater fish.. Like gentlemen said before, it depends on the season and conditions where they go but yes there are deep in the winter and some in the summer but thats a stretch to say they are a deepwater fish. There are many myself included whom would argue the opposite.. and in summer and winter alot of fish become deeper water fish.
  16. At one time years ago I had no real idea..I thought I knew.. like most guys I see with spinnerbaits nowadays fishing near me. There is more to spinnerbaiting than cast and retrieve Once you truely understand all aspects of spinnerbait fishing, it will be hard to disagree that it is the most versatile and so versatile you could judge the conditions and tie a specific spinnerbait on for the trip.. and you could have one tied on year-round oh yes.. summer
  17. If you had a fishfinder, I'd venture to fish the 8+ ft breaklines like the previous gents said.. but w/o one I'd hit the biggest most promising lilly pad cove with deepwater access .. with frogs but if yer having trouble with hookups I'd go with t-rig plastics along weedline edges and even punch a bit into it
  18. 1. tie the spinnerbait back on 2. learn to use it in all conditions 3. catch fish imo its one of the most versatile and effective lures and like any lure u need to learn to fish it right and itll be yer buddy.. otherwise itll ignore you I catch more in the fall but I always have one tied on in all seasons and catch em in spring and summer as well.. practically catches at least one for me every trip
  19. never used a net.. if it gets off .. well I was gonna release it anyway
  20. Where did you get the idea or research that said 90%+ of bass are in the deep? .. and what is deep to you?
  21. Part of the lure of the big swimbaits is also that they make them fairly realistic in looks and in action. Those sight characteristics are diminished in heavy stained though the action and water displacement can be detected via lateral line So I'd say realistic swimbaits are at their max effectiveness in clearwater .. in stained there are competitors and alternatives
  22. thats easy.. spinnerbait esp if theres a tournament where I need to cover water fast
