  1. I always see blades of those sizes in the saltwater section.. I dont see that you couldnt use those for big deep bass
  2. depends on your lake's forage but I usually use those in spring if bluegill go bluegill but when in doubt go watermelon
  3. The rage tail baits are designed more to flap than to do anything else.. the action is great You get the ragetails not for its claw buoyancy but for its action
  4. All else equal, the 6lb diameter should be harder for the fish to see I know the minnow is a movin but I still like finesse lines where I can get away with them or fluoro So the rule of thumb is alway go as low diameter as you can get away with.. esp w/ the slower presentation I think with 6 lb test though you are riding the razors edge if you decide to tussle with a big fish..
  5. I've always suspected Blue Marsh had a problem with catch and keep .. Hows Lake Ontelaunee these days.. no boats but you could wade most of it
  6. i used sufix 832 and Slick8 also use Seaguar Tatsu Fluoro I dont ever touch mono anymore
  7. highly suggest getting the hollow frog and learning to work it on hairy weedbeds its the lure you need to keep from pullin weeds off yer lure and to keep from pullin hair outa yer head
  8. theres many factors involved here and a few have been mentioned clearly big fish have been caught on ordinary worms and jigs the majority of texas sharelunkers if I recall were caught on senkos or senko size worms I think yall should forget the "other guys is right or wrong" bs and just fish its not rocket science going after big fish.. know yer prey, its behavior, and its habitat and tendencies there are times mr big will eat BIG and times it will eat SMALL .. and some mr bigs eat more BIG and some mr big eat more small and there are some variations on that across the country and it varied bodies of water.. yer going after the apex of the apex predator in most lakes.. numbers wise you;d be targeting the select fish and its fewer bites on an outing going after mr big .. i'd prefer larger lures to go after mr big (this my preference & experience) alot of the negative things said on this thread on the back of right or wrong are personal experiences yea if it works for ya fine but dont push it onto someone else and degrade them none of the things said here are backed by real solid data or studies and wouldnt make it into a scientific journal as with all things in life with advice and fishing for mr big included.. caveat emptor
  9. ya noticed the sale and crankbaits and lots of everything was on sale selection was low as indicated and i couldnt find my shadalicious so if you wanted anything on sale get it now I doubt they will stock up rest of the year
  10. I also find its based on the specific day or conditions, there are days where setting the hook early meant no hookup and then there are days where they are spitting so fast after an obvious hit that I am on hair trigger from them on on hooksets Adjust to whats goin on
  11. ya I find that true of all the strike king perfect plastics
  12. can bigger fish be caught on small and average size lures.. absolutely in my experience, I've noticed the size of fish caught on average improves as I upsize the lure and slow the presentation are these the only factors involved.. no
  13. Ive lost big fish fishing from my boat as well so you have my sympathies 1) keep a tight line at all costs 2) if you dont use a net (like me) get the fish over the boat as soon as you can
  14. power and action depends on what lures youll be fishin i'd expect the new uglies would bend nealy all the way round like the ole ones..
  15. No and No ..the rodent has 2 lil ball feet which float alil and wag but by no means does it allow the entire heavy bait to float.. its a heavy bait.. made perfectly for pitch/flip..
  16. I throw hardbaits more in early spring and late fall but I throw spinners all year long though they peak in spring and fall as well.. but I throw soft plastics (largely plastic swimbaits) all year long
  17. Their both braid and both will do that I'd think 832 being stiffer because its coated would be less apt to do that tho
  18. heh I hear Blue Marsh is still tough.. sometimes half the tournament boats are skunked
  19. ya zman.. they float but also melt into everything
  20. plstics and spinners equally hot for me this summer
  21. I fish post frontal for the same reason you just found out plus there is usually noone else there.. u get the water all to yerself if you can find the fish, its a smorgasborg if you cant its real slow going
  22. Kind of a loaded question if only it were so simple as to be outlined in a few sentences then noone would ever get skunked and everyone would go from novice to expert in an instant
  23. I had some play in my reel and I just took it apart and added more metal washers onto the handle axel these are ultrathin metal washers but if you can find the exact size then that may solve yer clearance issues
  24. that fall-like cold front put a major size restriction on my catch over the weekend.. couldnt catch nothin over 15"
  25. I love my Aird and I only spent $40 and change on it..
