  1. I wouldnt fish nights when the weathers cool..
  2. For most lures I usually set the hook asap.. except for big worms. There I calm myself down and tell myself to feel for the steady pressure then set hard.. its not easy when you condition yerself to set the hook fast and then have to slow down. Did you use enough attractant? They are important for the big worms They will buy you the split second you often need to set the hook Problem with 12" worms is that even the big gals will take a few gulps to eat it cause its so long and most likely the first bite will have it chewing at the tail end.
  3. I have too many lures and yet I still have alot less than most of u!
  4. Spinnerbaits are one of my go-to lures Ive learned over the years that its best to have the spinnerbait tuned to run true and return to true easily after hitting structue If it needs adjustment after a hit, do it It makes a difference to the fish..
  5. Clouds mean you cant depend on the sun to warm the waters up any Its obviously gonna be a lil slow maybe a soft jerkbait finessed
  6. I always have a spinnerbait tied on.. but its almost never the white I've found the natural colors have performed better and some yellow in stained.. blade colors plain silver and gold work best with gold in stained
  7. Yea Im used to catching the bigger ones with sunken bellies but this one seems just about right not fat but not skinny neither Twas a healthy lookin fish.. she scampered away with an attitude as well.
  8. I love to fish post-fronts .. but not in the fall and right now in the NE it feels like fall to me. So I decided to fish the pre-frontal for this east coast storm today. I got used to takin pictures from that monthly NE contest we have here but theres none for September.. so I figure I'd post it anyway. Landed 4 fish in about an hour before I had to head to work. The biggest was this gal a 21"+ 5 pounder. They didnt want spinnerbaits.. they wanted plastics.. they got plastics!
  9. We wouldnt do that now .. would we? Or would we?
  10. Posted on another thread a couple of days ago about how this years been kinda strange and how the summers really been almost an extended spring and awesome fishing. Last couple of week I too have noticed a transition..feels like fish finally going into a summer pattern as well but we are weather-wise into fall. Its as if summer was shortened this year. So I suspect any transition finally into a summer-like pattern to be short-lived.. the weeds receding are tellin me so..
  11. theres so many reasons for me why even bother explaining.. that general statement doesnt even cover them all maybe this: I LOVE IT
  12. As do I.. let us know if it works out.. I have put swimbait and craws on the chatterbait with success so if the tube dont work out.. try those
  13. nice 7 pounder I like the line on the 5 though
  14. You may get somethin on it but cant help but think with all the choices for trailers out there.. why a tube? I guess let the fish decide..
  15. Lots of us lost big bass.. pb kind.. heart dropping into stomach feeling in hindsight shouldve done this or that shouldve not messed around etc.. did I check the line d**n shouldve checked that before.. etc keep the hooks super-sharp keep the lines tight and keep lady luck happy its all you can do it is what it is there'll be another day
  16. Depends what you are callin' big fish I've seen 19-20" fish swiming in small schools of 3-4 but I've seen Doug Hannon videos of Florida strain schooling by the 20-30 looking like 4+ pound fish I've seen much bigger 22+" fish just prowling the shore weedlines solo and the biggest fishes Ive caught busting weeds were likely doing it alone Bass school via size so depends on how big yer talkin about when yer the biggest mama in the lake, theres arent many who are big enough to hang with ya and thusly the biggest of the big are likely solo
  17. I could say the same thing about plastic swimbaits vs senkos too I catch alot more fish with plastic swimbaits than senkos plastic swimbaits on the order cost more than senkos but they catch more fish for me .. so why would I even ever buy senkos I also catch more fish on spinnerbaits and they dont break nearly as much as senkos and for me they catch more fish so save money on senkos and buy plastic swimbaits and spinners but really.. bottom line is if yer good enuf to catch fish with cheap knockoffs as well as yamamoto senkos then why flip for the more expensive? but if you cant and senkos make a difference for ya then get senkos .. its about catching fish for most of us.. not throwin lures and getting tendinitis for nothin'
  18. stained is preferred clear only if theres alot of weeds
  19. Ive used cigar baits with many actions from medium to very fast I've been able to walk using them all with adjustment but I have to say medium is easier Course this depends also on the weight of the cigar bait being used as well yer not gonna use a medium for a punker no problems with any of the actions due to the trebles.. not had any problems with hookups at all.
  20. More importantly you caught it yerself.. first step to rectifying an issue is to confess. Congrats.
  21. I too use braid and fluoro leader and have no problems with slackline sensitivity
  22. braid is more sensitive..fluoro still has some stretch 10# braid on one of my setups is great small diameter stuff with great sensitivity
