  1. DSG had a buy 1 get 1 50% off a week ago so I got some 5.8" Keitechs and got a pair of sneakers which reduced the shipping due to a free ship on that This time of year you got to keep yer eyes peeled on DSG specials.. they keep comin and changin'
  2. 9mm standard in US and Europe and most all over the world.. so cheaper nice balance between stopping power and kick/recoil higher velocity medium range 45 mostly US great short range stopping power (almost 1.5x 9mm pressure) great associated kick/recoil short range in my opinion instead of carrying, learn to be aware of potential problems around you and learn to avoid them in advance.. imo carrying gives you a confidence which is often false the best way is to spot and stay far away from trouble
  3. Yes let a skunk teach you instead of frustrate you.. in this way you move forward and with each step forward you get better I would give one suggestion.. erase that idea of "catching fish is not easy" that is not a constructive conclusion its also alot about attitude and confidence believe it or not
  4. Didn't u already have a couple?
  5. A yozuri jerkbait which I quickly cleaned off and a few casts later.. Her jerk.. Fish on.. Nice jerkbait
  6. Our esteemed well respected big-bass colleague on the bass resource forum seems to have a new batch of hardgills available at his website baby hardgills too
  7. Its heavier than steel so it can be smaller a weight. I've never needed it.. I know all these claims such as sensitivity etc I've not seen the benefit of.. the only benefit I see is I can use a smaller size weight I have a pack but I'm still using my steel bullet heads..
  8. $40 lunker punker .. last year .. last thing I saw was a series of big splashes, a hookset, swimbait rod going parabolic, something big tangling itself into the weeds, 40# braid breaking off not sure what hurt more losing the lure or the fish or said lure dangling in the mouth of said fish or all of the above immediately upgraded from 40# to to 65# braid the next week for the heavy setup..
  9. Caught a huge 16" bullhead on a.. huddleston shad I never even knew they ever got that big but I guess hudds have a reputation on catching bigger
  10. Well I went out this morning for a few hours post-frontal which isnt a great thing to do in the fall but heck I aint got anything better to do.. but dang well nearly got skunked. Landed 2 bass no bigger than 14" but I tell ya their bellies were round so they were kinda round and cute .. definitely putting on some pounds in prep for winter. So I'd say the bass know its fall.. now we just gotta figure them out when we get out there..
  11. Primetime, I know somethin' about how to fish for sure but the waterway is also good where I am here. People dont quite respect a good waterway.. they dont understand a good fisherman can fish their hearts out in an empty bucket and catch no fish. So everytime I go out I feel blessed..cleanup trash around the lakes when I see it.. keep lady lake happy. I grew up fishing eastern PA lakes and the big fish were harder to find cause of all the catch-and-keep fisherman.. first day of fishin season and the lakes were packed full of fisherman..no spots on shore at all! Stocked fish all gone within a few months.. I wish we had more smallmouths here.. I'm only seeing mostly largemouths.. My biggest was a 23-7 pounder as well and I'm still trying to beat it.. some waterways nearby are producing supposedly 26-27" lmb.. I dunno about that but I know only a handful of us locals are pulling big fish out of our holes in our area and the one guy is usin' shiners and beat my best by 2 pounds.. and these are real numbers.. Well you get to see bigger down south..enjoy yerself down there.. which is where this snowbird is eventually gonna end up too!
  12. Yes thats part of the fun of fishing.. franken-baiting lures I do that too with spinnerbaits and plastics After each creation.. well .. even more excited to get out on the water to try them out
  13. I catch a 20"+ fish every week on good months and every other week on slower months biggest this year was 22" which isnt as fat as a southern fish but it was big..its the length that gets me Primetime, I cant wait to retire and hit those Florida ponds full of fat 10 pounders.. do my Doug Hannon impersonation I wanna see a 27" fish with a HUGE head I saw some real lunkers on Disney property this year..
  14. I agree you wanna fish in a good watershed capable of supporting sizable fishes..but for me I'd add lower fishing pressure as well Several state records in the NE .. low key ponds .. no big names there NJ (Menantico Pond) MASS (small pond on the Agawam River chain just below Glen Charlie Pond) CONN (Mashapaug Pond) NY (private pond) New Hampshire (Potanipo Pond) Maine (Moose Pond) Looks like you want a 10 pounder in the NE, fish in a place called a "pond" ..and by the looks of it, you wanna catch something in the 25"+ size and preferably in the colder months
  15. Any known gigantic bass lakes in the NE? .. any gigantic bass in Canada?
  16. Point taken but I think there are many factors at play here to say anything has zero effect. The watershed needs to be able to support big bass agreed. Food sources like herrings or other abundance food sources are easier to catch then even better. Big deep lakes may also provide areas where the gals can more easily avoid anglers and allow continued growth.. but nothing halts growth faster than a skillet or a wallmount. You dont worry about abundant food nor places to hide when yer caught and kept.
  17. Why is herring key? Are they any easier to catch than bluegills for bass? I would think key would be that these monster bass are coming from ponds where fishing pressure is low. I believe the NJ record came form such a pond. High pressure areas where people are catching bass and frying them on a skillet or posterizing 5 pounders on their walls are keeping those 20 inchers from turning into 27 inchers
  18. The main lakes I fish I've no problem getting info on.. its the smaller township reservoirs and ponds I'm trying to figure out theres little info. I dont know the first thing about baitfish.. looks like alewives are saltwaters migrating up river and its prob not that.. backt o gizzard shad me thinks.
  19. I think u should keep postin' like to see those northernmost US fishes and its good for competition.. I dont care about winnin its just fun and somethin to do.. one of thez dayz hopefully a state record fish pic gets posted too
  20. boostr btw thu is supposed to be pouring all day.. GREAT FRONTAL conditions for some fishing! Big uns come out in the rain!
  21. Twas a small lake around Round Valley/ Spruce Run area. I think there are alewives in there and now that I am looking at an alewive pic I think thats what it was.. course I'm no baitfish expert I dont fish live Couldve been an alewive or gizzard shad.. but seeing how they dont sell either round here.. must be resident..
  22. How about released shiners and shad from fishermen bait buckets.. you think they've a chance to survive the winter here?
  23. ya I'm just fishin for fun the only thing closest to a goal would be to keep getting more knowledgeable and experienced and keeping the eyes open noticing everything about every catch to keep geting better catching em and increasing the frequency of sized catches comes by itself afterwards
  24. ya I thought it strange as well never seen any in these parts but there it was and I never saw anyone selling shad as bait shiners yea but shad? another possibility is someone else raised it and used them as bait.. but that seems an awful lotta trouble when shiners are alot easier way to go
  25. I'd say save up for a bigger boat then.. 3 times a winner is awesome
