I only ever downsize to 4" swimbaits I find I am catching smaller 12-15" fish way too often fishin these smaller baits and for smaller swimbaits the market is wide open and though I like Keitechs not theyre not the only good game in town in that market dang it will it please warm up enough to get out there?

Ive used the Grigsby knot or Jimmy Houston knot or whoever else wants to claim its theirs.. with no knot failure.. but I always use a drop of superglue on it as well.

Even in southern Cal I would bet that the fishes would be deeper than shoreline in the winter.. I would say you prob need a boat unless you fish the temperatures spikes..

If they are bass they cant be hitting it with any conviction and thats why yer having hookup issues kudos to u for eliciting any strikes on a topwater frog this late in the season in Canada it must be cold up there unless yer in the western half..

Id spend all the time and money involved instead on buying some good jigheads on sale esp on clearance end of seasons or big holiday sales and spend the time fishin and getting better at that instead Its real easy to buy quality jigheads thez days and put yer own skirt on or rearrange skirts from other jigs and spinnerbaits and add yer own trailer. just my 2 cents

Yer best bet is Wenesday when the temps warm up close to 70s in NY/NJ Thursday prefrontal may be ok as well The fish are tough to corral these days as they are all over the place..big or small Sometimes the big uns are where I'd expect the small ones are and vice versa. Thats fall!

Yer gonna have to practice concentrating on feeling your line and keep it semi tight with other lures I set the hook accordinglky depending on what the fish is giving me With jigs I am on edge and set the hook as soon as I suspect a bite
