  1. Unfortunately for slop you are really going to have to punch it depending on how thick it is the fish have a hard time even taking out the hollow frogs on top everything else thrown in there including anything but the most streamlined punch rig hauls back a bowl o seaweed
  2. I've been throwin so much topwater lately I dont know that Im giving anything else a real chance
  3. It doesnt look that realistic lol I'm sure the lady will give it back.. whats a woman gonna do with an MS Slammer and $60 is alot for a lure imo
  4. I'd rather catch a smallmouth anyday over a trout.. those guys r cookoo
  5. Spinnerbait is on all year long for me.. Caught my biggest of the year so far a 5.5lb on a half oz spinnerbait who also snapped my rod trying to crane her onshore. Numbers too.. loads of fish this year on a 1/4 oz spinner.. always whip that out when im lookin to catch numbers.
  6. You dont indicate you are using a leader or not and you didnt mention the # braid If using a leader, check if the leader knot was the issue.. check if yer knot to lure or snap was the issue Check yer guides to make sure there isnt anything there that might fray or cut the braid cast after cast I have a snappy cast and had braid snap off issues as well before esp. w/ low # braid.. its not forgiving of shock
  7. I agree I barely see any difference between my 832 and slick8 both are strong, both fade, both have their coatings wear off
  8. wow looks beautiful.. but also alot like Lock Ness
  9. Congrats! Are those lakes you fish in cali mostly rock or have they a bunch of weeds?
  10. Nope its slight bit colder in NJ and I'm getting them on topwater
  11. I dont have the best hookups on hollow frogs..in fact out of all my lures the worst hookups are on my hollow frogs I've lost more than a handful of big fish on hollow frogs and Ill use em in slop or vegatation cause trebles dont work well there.. I'd hate to see some guy lose quality fish if it can be avoided..nothin like going home knowin you had a 5 pounder on the line for a split second only So yea if guys wanna use em in open water .. caveat emptor
  12. 832 and slick8 both cast well for braid but both will wear off their slick coating in a short amount of time. If you are losing distance on knot friction, suggest FG knot as you indicate.. I use FG knot 65 lb braid to 50lb mono going thru microguides on my swimbait rod and have not had to retie so far this season.. will you bang yes but less than other knots so no you dont need to downsize your # OR go to 17# nanofil if you are worried about distance to an extreme tho if you are talking 10# to 10# fluoro (which I am not a fan of) I've had no problem with uni-to-uni when tied properly
  13. Im a big plastics and spinnerbait advocate but if God came down and restricted me to only 1 toy it'd hafta be TOPWATER!
  14. Yer in my neck of the woods and yes we are in late spawn. The early spawners have spawned and inch long fingerlings are on the shores but alil deeper than in previous years. Some fish are in post spawn and some are guarding nests and some are looking to spawn again but we are in the late stages and they are biting well esp the big ones as the temps go up. Spring was late this year so the fishing has been tougher to figure out but once figured they be bitin' Caught 2 5lb+ bass this last week along with lots of smaller ones
  15. I dont see the point, in open water I'd want trebles..
  16. X2 on a glass rod for topwater not hollow frogs but other topwater

Favorite lure is whichever is catching me more fish on that day..
  18. I love the rain and fishin in it.. profile pic to left (rain)
  19. They are superlines because of the advanced manufacturing processes (usually multiple woven or bonded strands) required and advanced "super" attributes usually a greater strength to diameter ratio and very little stretch. Gone are the days when mono rules.. couldnt even imagine how I fished with mono only..
  20. 1) you need a rod with decent backbone to set that hook otherwise it'll slip out as you say 2) braid is preferred for the same reason 3) if that frog is sucked under water, I'm setting the hook hard & fast right away also comes with the territory as often times bass suck down lots of weeds along with your frog and they interfere at times with hookup
  21. been known to saw off limbs to get my lure back as long as its not causing too much commotion
  22. Me too the fishing elbow.. all as result of ripping world record single arm casts in order to reach further.. nowadays learning to stay within myself regarding casting.. also using the double arm cast more to mitigate
