  1. I agree most popper are about the same but I like one which I can bomb
  2. Yes agreed also its lots more comfortable but if ya need to tackle the heat.. ya need to go finesse.
  3. I used to care and neatly used gold in stained and silver in clear until situations called for replacement blades which clashed in either situation and the fish kept coming in so I really dont think it matter much except for your own confidence
  4. Yes I agree if the break can be detemined to be downline of the knot then its time to address this. Otherwise learn to tie the knots properly. If its not the knot, suggest up the # and/or add a shock leader (which is how I solved the very problem or whippy cast braid breakage)
  5. decent deals usually start thanksgiving winter or christmas sales is the best deal but by then what you were targeting may be already gone
  6. Did not like braid on spinning at all.. went to naofil and its a no brainer Pretty much using mostly heavy nanofil on all but the biggest setups Never liked the stretch mono brings and dont like the breakage of low# fluoro
  7. No offense to anyone esp if it doesnt apply My sincere theory on this high end buying is that most fisherman are under the idea that their unmet goals or disatisfaction with fishing results.. have more to do with a lack of "something material" rather than a lack of "understanding or knowing or skill" which would hurt the ego to no end and so deep down it must be that I dont have this or that lure or am not using the best of this or that ..and of course we have a robust capitalistic system in place to take advantage of this insecurity when really it is fishing wisdom and knowledge which would impact your results the most extrapolate this out to life in general if desired
  8. I know this.. they look so dang good.. but the plastics and spinners kick their butt in my experience.. yet I always bring them too
  9. Recommend also storing those in a cool place not in your garage Even the best care though in my experience is not enuf when you accidentally puncture those waders on the field I've not had good experience with repairing them to the best of satisfaction and they are just trouble after that
  10. really depends on what you say a pattern is cause at any time in a lake lotsa of fish arent all doing the same thing little fish are doing something and not all schools doing the same something big fish doing a bunch of things or just nothing perferences for certain presentations and colors can come and go the surest times for us are during the spawn periods
  11. Lemme join the party then.. here the biggest from this morns good expedition.. 5 pounder 20" big girl tried to jump and nearly cleared the water.. made me chuckle
  12. My FG Knots have not failed yet.. its a great knot for certain applications
  13. not really.. been nailin lots of fish on spinnerbaits every trip and taking a few on Mattlures hardgill
  14. IMO if yer looking for an app or a calendar to figure out for ya when to go fishin I say dont bother.. most of us go whenever we have time and I've caught fish at all hours during the day and been surprised at the yields on days supposedly not good
  15. Imo the barometric pressure factor is another myth Also, our northern bass up here in the northeast are a bit hardier than those cousins from the south and west.. ours need to survivelarge temp fluctuations and ice-over ..and our conan bass likely shrug off cold fronts alot better than those from the south and west
  16. Bets are on the southern most states Texas thru Florida.. its time to bring the record home
  17. spinnerbait and if night over 4 ft weeds you should be able to pull them up with a buzzbait
  18. I dont know about any research sayin fish gorge themselves prefrontal but it makes sense however I also know bass (esp summer) need to eat ALOT and well unless lake temps drop dramatically theyre back out the next day to feed tip to those who wanna catch fish cause most of us dont have the luxury of controlling weather or fishing everyday we get a weekend off and well if its post frontal well you gotta still fish right better than sittin on the couch and arguing with the missus you gotta try to become proficient in all conditions..else risk gettin skunked and feelin down if gettin skunked makes you so when you say tougher its relative Post frontal IS tougher .. than immediately prefront however, its the same (i say better) as a day or two prior to the front w/ bluebird skies (most of the time unless a major noreaster comes and drops the lake temps 10 degrees) if you know how to catch fish bluebuird skies you can catch fish post frontal most have a tough time catching bluebird bass.. so obviously postfrontal will be no different for them first inkling I had when I first got back to fishing was watching KVD destroy bass postfrontal I said well if its a truism postfrontal fish cant be caught whys this guy catching fish and he wasnt just catching he was nailing subsequently when I got over this mental block of low confidence out postfrontal I began to focus on becoming sucessful postfrontal wheneve I see weather erports a fronts comin in.. baby its circled pre-post everything
  19. Its definitely not a hard fast rule You cant push a huge swimbait in their face but yes fish do bite after a cold front
  20. Wow just to put things in perspective Congrats and keep the faith
  21. Lake arthurs alot of area to cover for a yak I get the sense you may be trying to be like KVD and scurrying up and down the banks trying to powerfish Anchor your yak on some prime locations and fish them thoroughly Here in the Northeast there are still big fish in the thickest weeds but they need slow prodding to trigger and get out
  22. Unless a reel functions poorly (drag, pickup, wrong gear ratio) or malfunctions and causes a person to spend time addressing those issues, I really dont consider reels having much of a major factor in a person outfishing another person. A person who knows the limits of his equipment and has it functioning w/o malfunction takes that piece of equipment out of the equation I dont want to even think about a reel when fishing.. I wanna find and catch fish not worry about backlashes or malfunctions or worry about any aspect of my reel or equipment and I am man enuf to say yes I use spincast and I catch sized and numbers of fish regularly using spincast.. not that it should surprise anyone that a spincast could cause its not much a factor imo
  23. Daiwa goldcast (GC120 only) nanofil cant remember the last time I had a line dig on nanofil.. ie.. never (so far)
  24. I do my best on a bunch of lures whichever they are hitting.. but I whip out and stay with TOPWATER as long as I can endure it and right aways
