Pre-Frontal Bassing ~
IMO prefrontal is over-rated. I often fish pre-frontal not purposely but forecasts are erratic in that fronts are often delayed and I end up fishing hours and sometimes an entire day waiting for the front to initiate. I always fish fronts from shore never on boat as I see no reason why for obvious reasons and stop doing this in late fall. Caught fish for me pre-front over the years have been size-wise and numbers no better than during normal non-frontal days yield. When I say pre-frontal I mean conditions prior to ANY attribute of the front arriving. Now as the front approaches and the winds kick up and the smell of the storm is in the air, fishing gets better for me even though the rain has not yet arrived. All this said blah blah.. YEA I'm fishing pre-frontal Saturday ahead 😜 Hey its 20 degrees warmer than trend this weekend...

Found a new way to throw away money and look like an idiot...
LOL this thread. I thought I was losing it when my Lunker Punker snapped the line and sailed and swimming out to retrieve it as the wind carried it further away. People saw it said I was crazy I said its alot of money fools. Looking back yes looked like an idiot. Years past.

Upsizing Fall LMB
Decaying cheese absorbs oxygen so its not ideal at least in the patches on my lakes but I gave them the benefit of the doubt but they returned no fish not a one. Effort more fruitful elsewhere in my parts they are deeper and out of the weeds.

Upsizing Fall LMB
When I say broken 60F, means broken below the 60F levels and the fish I found were suspended off ledges mid depth near weed flats. No fish caught near the receding brown weeds for me. On my way out spotted big baitfish being busted in the middle of the lake must have been 50 of them jumping at the same time.

Yer right Ajay's fish looks like a form of Pop-eye but yours seem more localized maybe as a result of some larger infectious critter ie.. parasite.

Thoughts on Fishing when you are old and tired...
Anything better to do when yer getting older than fishing? Please don't say golf! Toss in some strenuous hiking around the lakes and you have great exercise as well to keep the spirits and energy high!

Bass Afflicted with “Bubble Eye”?
Aquarium fishes get infected popeye disease I dont see why fishes in the wild would be immune.

Hesitated about heading out into this extreme rainy cold front finding out temps were to be in the low wet 40s but Eins is all about fronts and besides I had just fuddled with my decade old Mattlures Hardgill yesterday and just wanted to test the new modifications. Not too much confidence in the Hardgill as it had only nailed a few smallish fish over the years you see I made the mistake of buying the floater thinking that it'd be no biggie to modify it to slow sink if need be. Well it weren't easy since there werent any references on utube or elsewhere and having to use 5 nail weights of varying sizes epoxied in at strategic dremel-drilled spots (see attached pics) in the underside to replaced egg-weighted trebles which I ended also downsizing and then buoyancy tested to be a slow sinker. So overall a cleaner profile and hopefully reducing sight profile of trebles. Anyway, it was tough conditions as few skunked fishermen atested to but nailing a few 2 pounders early on my tried and true lures before the bite slowed as the water temps dropped with the icy rain even these aging bones wanted home early. Well before eagerly retreating from the icy wet whipped out the mod Hardgill. Few casts to get the presentation down and wasn't long before a slow-roll Hardgill felt the subtle cold slow bite of a suitable biggie gill-eater and hookset. Always good to see a mod go right and so quickly as confirmation. Hope to add the Hardgill to the bigger fish repetoir as it was meant for more after these mods. Thanks Matt!

Went out this morning to give the new scale a spin but needed some weight for testing. So I asked Mr fishes could I borrow you guys for just alil while. Got a couple of volunteers ooo ooo me me. Biggest one wanted a weigh and well how could I refuse her? Yep it werks! But she ripped my glove and gave me terrible bass thumb. Bad girl!

How to fight a bass - wear out vs horse 'em in?
You wanna lose big fish just go ahead and play the line like I used to long ago before I lost many good fish. A couple head shakes later and they get off you can't get it back and you reason to yourself hey I still caught her but deep in yer heart you know you didn't. I horse the piggies in say hello and goodbye quickly improves survival.

This is a crazy one for me!
There you gave those unscrupulous lure companies another way to milk more money out of us anglers.. the bat chasing popper lure. Catches trophy anglers.

question about this forum. why do some of my post need to be vetted first?
I can see it from that pov but imo its a free country (or used to be), things should be free(r). Perhaps these message boards can implement some sort of reputation reporting by members themselves whereby the net thumbs up minus thumbs down over a certain threshold and you get a time-out for a while and not by a single moderator gatekeeper or something but to suppress or alter someone else's opinions right or wrong imo is wrong and not conducive to a free society where all opinions are heard whether good or bad. IMO

If they ever do heavy handed vetting, I'm gone. Can't stand stuff like that. I understand freedom of speech doesn't apply by law to private messaging sites but at least respect the concept please we live in America not China. Other forums that do that and ban for small infractions I just leave.. no point in sharing and seeing other's opinions when they're vetted, filtered, and controlled.

Fall Fishing Will Humble You
Really depends on your body of water. In some waters, the schoolers are chasing baitfish all over the lake and you need to find and follow and thats abit frustrating. Others they are just alil deeper due to the receding weeds looking for deeper ambush points. I guarantee you they're there and they're hungry just not as much as summer you just need to find them.

Wind and weather - does it affect your decisions?
For me, (wind=yes) + (fronts cold/warm/post) => (decision to fish=YES) ie.. this morning bad weather windy cold in the 50s, big bass still partying around 9am-ish and I went to join the party (even tho I'm supposed to be werkin' shhh)

NOAA - the best feature for me as a bass fisherman.
Yes remember these forecasts are generalized for an area like zip code so the air temps in the area will generally be accurate nearterm within a day or two but if your looking for definitive probability of rain and wind in your specific location, I look to radar and tracking over time for the front.
