  1. One I found was exactly the size of the hudd shad..looked almost exactly the same (kudos to Ken) 4" so it mustaf been a youngun To match the hatch I will aim to throw it more often I hope that lotsa shad will mean the potential for supporting lots of state record size fish
  2. This body of water doesnt get stocked so I'm hoping shad survive the winter here and are resident I'd assume this portends schooling bass attacking schools of shad in this body of water.. without shad I'd assume their primary forage are bluegills and shiners
  3. Love the wind.. heavy spinnerbait unaffected fish love it
  4. I think the next step up if you have the confidence, knowledge, and experience.. is to see how good you really are and see if you can make some money on the tournaments and move up compete with bigger boyz
  5. Was fishing the other day and threw my hudd shad a few times didnt catch anything on it.. but looking at the banks I noticed.. a dead shad .. looked alot like my hudd shad. I had not ever seen shad in this particular body of water.. Question: Do they sell shad as live bait? Could someone have brought this shad here as bait? OR Is this resident shad? I've not heard of buying shad as bait before? Im pretty sure it was a gizzard shad..
  6. Haha very true.. I spoke to one the other day..
  7. Well this is the best time of the year to try for the fat ones and it'll be the fat ones which get you yer record the same 20"+ fish are packin on the poundage I notice their rounder bellies when I catch em If you can reland that 25" bass in November.. you may have a chance
  8. I havent a clue where this idea of a fall bite is the best comes from. Spring is clearly the best bite followed by the summer where the heat makes the bite active In fall, they are beefing up but there are ALOT of bait in the water competing against your not-so-real lures. I would agree the size on average goes up but based on my observations thats poundage .. the fish are packing it on but its the same big fish from the spring and summer IMO, winter is the worst bite followed by fall.. that said, I am still catchin them.. my yields have fallen alil from summer but I am still catchin lots of fish but I expect this to slow more and more into the fall until Thanksgiving where I pack it in and start packing on the turkey!
  9. Nice fish.. yup got my spinnerbait always on.. love usin' it
  10. I didnt take pictures of every one .. got some videos but Ill post the pics I got but based on what Maine posted elsewhere I think he already has quite a lead.. so I aint rippin any pics from video.. has Maine got a lake full of Florida strains up there or somethin? Pre-frontal 21" I posted on the forum 9/11 fish
  11. Are you feelin like you've hit that 10 lb wall? You look at the state records in the NE and there seems to be an asymptote near the 10 mark so its gonna be a bit of effort.. I would guess that by the size of the fish youve been pulllin out in that lake you frequent, there must be an apex bass in there somewhere over 10..
  12. Why was that a terrible example? If that was a legit pic, it wouldve been a state record 10 pounder.. it looked bigger than any I caught here.. Heres a 4.5lb 20 incher I caught this morning.. is this a good example?
  13. Heres one supposedly out of a lake right nearby .. http://www.stripersonline.com/t/808531/i-think-i-just-released-the-state-record-largemouth-bass At 25" and it looked like it had a girth enough for a 10 pounder.. I think in the NE anyone catching a 10 pounder, were prob gonna hear about it cause its a near state record fish
  14. I think light line finesse is better on spinning gear my spinning outfit is lighter and better balanced for the finesse feel I need for dropshot than my flippin rod
  15. Trust me when my goto lure for a specific condition isnt working when it should and it should based on history then before i ditch it for another approach, i toss it in another color so yea color does matter sometimes cause many times after i do that, I get bit
  16. I said least productive of the 3 seasons.. I dont fish winter either I do sense the bites being slightly more tentative my last outing but that was post frontal and its september and I'm still catchin' though football is on.. it aint late enough to pull me off the lake and yes I have Sunday circled as well.. I will be out there to see if the fish are positioning for Fall ..and taking some water temp readings ..and throwin bigger swimbaits
  17. I dont fish nights often cause I catch them well during the day but when I do usually near a full moon I'm going bladed baits slow and steady I know guys tell ya to use black or blue at night but frankly I've had no problem with the same spinners I use during the day..I may try colorados abit more.. of course all this depends on how bright the moon is under which you are fishing. I use spinners year round and yes there are days and times of the day when they are more tentative and you need to back off. You can usually tell when you toss the spinnerbait and you see them scurrying or see swirls .. get your more finesse baits out.
  18. havent been skunked since an outing late last fall but its that time of the year coming up soon always had a gameplan and a fallback but when its close to winter and theyre not workin', I'm not a cold water fisherman.. I pack it in just before thanksgiving
  19. I know how the hatcheries do it but I'd be interested in what you did to pellet train them
  20. Well I'd be the last one to report ya.. I still believe in a "free" country and what yer doing isnt hurtin anyone.. but if I were u I wouldnt have said all this and stated "yes thats my real name" above yer profile
  21. me how do you get these? I dont see them all over
