Need Help!
Ya for baitcasters I'd not cheap out on a reel..find the better models like a curado on eBay used rather than buy an inadequately lower model new.

What Do You Do When You Snag A Good Piece Of Cover?
This is also what I do.. except after I wrap the line, I use the stick to pull slowly and half the time I actually get my lure back but if its in there good, its just luck of the draw. This way I am not causing much commotion and can get another lure into that brush and try to nail any fish in there. If Im in a boat then thats a whole nother story you got better options in retrieving lures there..

Texas Angler Snares 14.66-Pound Monster At Toledo Bend
that fish was caught in the summer at 15lb it doesnt look overly fat so it'd have put on more weight going into winter its ashame a fish this big didnt make it look at the size of its head this is a big fish at 26" now imagine perry's fish back in the day at 32 certified inches long.. THAT WAS A HUMONGOUS FISH!

It's Always The Bait You Don't Have!
..it gets some more than others.. last purchase I took out some hudd shads and a mattlures softgill after that, nothin' the hudd shad and softgill were well recommended but so far they've been outfished so I think there are alot of quality lures out there which can do the job we all have a ton of them already.. so stop buying and start using.. sometimes I think fishermen blame "not having the right bait" for their lack of prowess in fishing in general

Hard Pond To Fish
nothin wrong with pike or musky.. even bigger fish!

Best Braid?
..based on what? Im using both and I find both are comparable 832 seems to wear its teflon off quicker maybe that explains the color fade so quick but both lines haul fish slick 8's coating lasting a bit longer I find both give u a few extra yards on the cast and a few decibels quieter

It's Always The Bait You Don't Have!
the fishin bait industry dont want you to end yer purchasing either.. with the quality and effectiveness of lures going up across the board across most classes you could probably fish very effectively with a select few lures and really cut back on $$$... if you wanted to.. I know some days I start with two lures and not throw anything else rest of the day going back between the two

Hard Pond To Fish
ya pike and musky arent real good for bass populations.. hopefully there are alot of weeds where the bass can hide I'd look for them there buried in the weeds

What was the length on that fish by the way,.. did you get a measure on that fish besides the weight?
-
6'8 Vs 7'1 Med/ Heavy Baitcast Setup
its 3 inches imo its not gonna make a whole heck of alot of difference especially since yer in a boat when I'm in the canoe, my flippin rod gets more cumbersome and my short glass rod begins to see more appreciation if you were shore fishin.. the longer the better

Who Wants In August - 5 Fish By Length
Didnt have as much chance to go recently but my last trip didnt yield any big fish and the quantity is dropping in the shallows.. from what I see, weeds are receding yet the fish are seemingly finally settling into a summer pattern.. the boat seemingly will be needed going into the tail end of summer. Kinda strange this year.. but thats been the story this year so far.. Congrats to the winner of August.. it was a great month for SIZE

You have my respect for getting a replica, showing mercy for the fish, and consideration for future fellow anglers ! Nice fish replica.. and more importantly you'll always have the memory of that experience!

Best Lure For Year Round Use
I used to ask the same question a long time ago and the answer (or the shortlist) seems to change or rotate with the seasons and then the conditions so I venture it will probably change for you as well

Missed Hooksets
If yo actually saw the hook and felt its weight in the fish, I think it may be time to take a good look at your hooks and make sure they are super sharp a super sharp hook makes hooksets alot easier and you'll miss less
