  1. Theyre all good.. there are days where I am killin them only on cigars, then other days where props take over, and others when punker does better.
  2. The one I rip apart and put together in custom and then field test and tinker with and retest.. thats my fav
  3. Thats why new lures have a good chance to catch fish and sell I'm almost certain the major bait manufacturers already know this
  4. Congrats.. hope you released it
  5. Thatd be a good idea imo I do alot of bank fishin and I use my waders alot so many benefits and keeps the dam ticks off my legs when I'm moving thru the thick stuff!
  6. einscodek 21.25, 20, 19.25 = 60.5
  7. Nice fishes.. how deep were you fishin yer jigs
  8. Anotherwords misused or abused..
  9. I've pulled several 4 pounders out of the waters using the $25 shakespeare ultralight setup I originally bought for my kid.. they sell at Walmart. (most fun I've had fishin) Whenever I needed to use an ultralight, I just grab it.. its a tool it works. I have an expensive Phenix rod but whenever I can get away with it, I use my IM6 Daiwa flippin rod which I bought for less than $60 at walmart. I'm lookin to catch fish .. aint lookin to impress people and well if it works.. sure stick with it til it breaks. I've out golfed folks with expensive golf clubs with my el cheapo set.. I destroy tennis opponents with $300 racquets with my budget racquet. These are tools.. But theres a difference between cheap and cheaply made.. I wont tolerate failure of equipment but if its cheap and fault-tolerant and robust, its gonna get used!
  10. In summer you have a plethora of weeds which when ticked can really put you on yer heels when trying to "feel a bite" I am talking about the subtlest bites where you feel a tick and have a split second to either set the hook or check if its a lifeless weed.. these kind of bites will always be problematic as they can spit it out lightning quick. I dont think there is a good rule to solve this problem esp around underwater summer weeds. If it were open water, any slight tick and I'm setting the hook fast but doing this around weeds just guarantees you minutes of unraveling weeds and ruined plastics. I also find this more of a problem for finesse presentations
  11. You'd think if this lure had any merit.. Strike King would have copied it by now
  12. im partial to the strike king
  13. Alot of times when using soft plastics the fish set the hook themselves and I barely felt it so yea I often wonder how many I miss where I never feel a thing either. Many other times they hit and spit it so fast I barely have any time to set the hook.
  14. The parameters of the rod imo are most important first the length gives you distance in general secondly given a specific lure weight, a properly chosen action and power for that weight will absolutely launch it for greater control and distance part of the reason I carry several rods on outings..
  15. I dont experience summer doldrums the big fish are still comin for me.. lots of guys are also catchin lots of summer bass.. Nowadays I mostly power fish with spinner baits and plastics.. sure finesse works work those plastics slow but if the fish aint there workin slow is just an exercise in wasting precious time. I'd say work power plastics and spinnerbaits til you find fish.. esp on a body of water unfamiliar to you.. then you can opt to finess worms if you like in that area where you know fish are holding.
  16. ..and another one.. 19.25" mama
  17. I dunno where these summer doldrums are that some posters on bassresource is talkin about.. On my "vacation" but finally got to sneak out and landed a few this morn.. the biggest 21.25" and 19.25" Heres a 21.25" 5 pounder
  18. Nice smallies! More than decent!
  19. still lookin to get a decent jig fish.. I see you throw yer jigs to shallow timber.. and nice smallie!
  20. Ya that might work for your local body of water but many places where I am are choked full of weeds and the crankbait is just an exercise in frustration this time of year in that ..and there is no way I go fishing anywhere without at least 2 rods.. if I bring one setup and that setup fails, rod breaks, reel jams up etc, my entire trip is wasted.. not gonna happen Electronics? I tried using them but I find them better for mapping underwater depths and structure.. once I know the body of water, I dont even use them any further.. still catch plenty of fish
  21. Theres only one rod I'd consider taking two of in exact configuration: my 7'6" flippin rod.. it does just about everything
  22. Sure they work in the daytime.. do they produce better than other lures in the daytime? ..not in my experience.. once in a while fish do cooperate better and take just about anything .. esp when you catch em when theyre real hungry.
  23. I got one and I will always give it a shot in areas where weeds are not a problem. I caught a big fish on it on my third cast with it and its been producing for me when I need a lipless crank. I almost got the luckycraft lipless crank instead but am more than happy with the spro. Great finishes, sound, and action..
  24. Yea that heart-sinking feeling when the big one is lost.. feels great caught but somethin missing if its not "handled".. somethin'..
