Long time lurker here. I'm a bank fisherman, so I don't have the convenience of 5-10 different setups. Could anyone recommend me a great all around combo that I could use to throw various types of lures (price isn't a factor) . The techniques I mostly use are hollow body frogs, 5-6" senko, 1/8-3/8 weighted t-rigging, lipless cranks, and skinny dipper swimbaits. All help/suggestions are appreciated.

I love shopping with other peoples money and since you said money is not a concern, I would look at a G-Loomis MBR843GLX and a Shimano Antares HG.

I will assume baitcast setup for what those techniques, a 7 to 7 1/2 foot MH/F rod paired with 6:1 gear ratio reel will cover all of those pretty well. Personally would go with something in the Dobyns Champion Extreme lineup with a Chronarch or Core.

I often bank fish as well, and although I don't carry more than 2 rods with me, I will have at least another 6 in the car.  No need to limit yourself to one rod unless you want to.  I will agree that even carrying only 2 rods is sometimes a pain.

 

I have to agree with Brian's suggestion for rod length, power and action.  Makes for a very versatile rod, and I have several for that reason.

 

Specific rod recommendations would be tough for me with unlimited funds as I don't have that kind of budget so no experince with high cost rods and reels.  I can suggest thte T3 1016 on sale at TW for about $190.  Great reel and deal.

 

Most of these rods I can only recommend based on the reviews and opinions of others.  I do have a Fenwick Aetos, but haven't done more than practice with it and my new-2-me T3 MX 1016.  The gentleman who suggested it tells me they are very sensitive rods.  Nice looking, too, especially in the sun.

 

With unlimited funds you could look at all the top tier rods from all the different brands.  Personally I would like to try an *** and KLX.  Money were no object I'd look at Megabass and a few others such as the GLX.

 

Be sure to let us know what your decision is, and a review of the new combo wouldn't hurt either.

I mostly use an IM6 Daiwa Aird/Jupiter telescopic flippin stick when bank fishin 7'6'

2-piece telescopic means I can carry it around the bank easily.

IM6 means its light and wont wear me out

7'6 gives me great casting distance from the bank

Lets me spinnerbait, worm, reach some flips from shore, froggin, swimbait.. great overall.

Didnt break the bank either.. $45 sportsmanguide

maybe take some time and learn about rod powers and actions before buying high end gear, im not sure why people recommend rods that pros use when the op doesnt have a clue why certain rods are used for certain techniques.

Don't worry, he messaged me criticizing rod recommendations to other "beginners" on this forum. 

Metanium xg because it can handle lures down to 1\8th and pair it with an Expride 6'8 MH.

einscodek, the one thing to keep in mind on the IM graphite ratings is they are not a set standard. They will vary from manufacture to manufacture. It really doesn't tell you anything, just a marking ploy.

 

If at all possible its best to actually handle a rod to determine how light/balanced it is.

If your only going to buy one and price isn't an option, go with the St. Croix Legend Xtreme 7'1" MH/XF. Absolutely sick rod!

I would suggest carrying two rods. I believe that you're going to have a hard time finding a rod that will handle all of your listed techniques. There have been some reasonable recommendations in the thread so far but for example, I would not throw a hollow body frog into pads on a 3-power Loomis rod and I believe that a MH St. Croix would have trouble with the light Texas rigs. You're going to be sacrificing performance somewhere.
