  1. I was lucky and won new Abu Garcia Revo Sx at Scheels! Never have owned this nice of reel. I am not sure if I need to grease the gears. The reel was already unboxed and on a rod when I picked it up. Noticed in the box when I got home a little bottle of what I am guessing is gear grease..Should I have to do anything with new reel before I cast it? Never cleaned or took apart a baitcaster.
  2. I have fished Lipless Cranks sucessfully on 10-12 lb mono. I now have 20lb PP Braid on my outfit and plan to throw Red Eye Shad next weekend. Should I just turn the drag down pretty loose, I am wondering without the stretch how to set the hook without breaking off the lure or my rod. This will be my first season fishing with braided line on both spinning and baitcasting. My luck up here my first fish on a Lipless will be a northern too! Any advice would be great.
  3. I havent officially been able to do it yet, opener is next weekend. But though information on here and youtube I feel I am ready to bust into Swim Jig fishing. Doesnt seem overally diffcult and I like the different ways you can switch up the trailers and colors. I have stuck to what I have learned over the winter. I have black/blue Strike King Swim Jig paired with Black/Blue Baby Paca. All-terrain white shad swim jig paired with Berkley Havoc Pearl White Silver Fleck(cut about 1.5" off) and a Outkast Pro Swim Jig Bold Gill paired with Berkley Pit Boss Okachobee. All of them are 1/4oz in weight. I have picked up a few other 3/8oz in black/yellow for the perch imatation look. Cannot wait until next weekend to put it all to the test!
  4. Watch this video it is very informative. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdMiu1M0fp0
  5. How are you rigging the worm onto the hook? Same as t-rig with the hook texposed to avoid snags?
  6. I am debating whether or not to put it on my new setup that is currently on backorder or just stick with PowerPro.
  7. Has anyone been able to try out the new Berkley Braid? If so what size and what are your thoughts? How does it compare to PowerPro and Suffix 832. Thanks
  8. I have been practicing with the bait caster too. Only birds nest come when I don't stop the spool before lure hits the ground. I am wondering how guys skip their baits under docks so hard and don't get epic backlash?
  9. good luck let us know how it goes. The way the weather has been around here I won't be able to fish until June...
  10. Here it is; Bitsy Flip Jig Green Craw with Paca Chunk SR Sun Perch; hope it works.

  12. I got it thanks guys. Just needed to push it up over the bulky portion. I was afraid the plastic would rip but its on there pretty good now. Looks pretty deadly. Cant wait to use it.
  13. I picked up 1/2oz mini strike king flip jig. How do you rig the trailer on these? The shank of the hook is so short and then there is bulky metal. I was trying to rig a paca chunk sr and don't see how to put it on straight. I have rigged other swim jigs and booyah jigs without any issues. Do I use a specific type of trailer?
  14. I am practicing now with 20 lb Power Pro braid. So far so good. One bad birdnest. I would suggest watching videos on setting up the reel correctly. I think that has helped. Good luck. Its not as hard as some make it out to be.
  15. Cabin fever got the best of me today, weather was pretty nice in WI so I went out in paved driveway and started practicing casting BC as I have never used one before. I have two questions (I have watched glenn's vids on setting up and casting) very helpful. Should I be worried about dirt on the line practicing out there or will I get dirt in the reel? Laugh, but it occurred to me about 25 casts in maybe I shouldn't practice out here, but everywhere else has 3 feet of snow. My other question on my last cast I almost threw it on my neighbors roof but saved it, however when reeling it in the line did not seem to go on the spool tightly...is their a trick or a way to get the line to respool tightly or will it correct itself on the next few cast. I am using 20lb PP braid. I didn't get any back lashes/birds nest the whole time thanks to advice on here and videos I have watched. I was casting 15-20 yards average on every cast. Any advice is appreciated...
  16. I have spinning 6'6" used it last season and liked it a lot. Caught bass, northern and walleye just fine. Now I have same rod but casting that I will be trying out this spring for the first time
  17. I just picked up Poppin Pad Crasher in cricket color. What colors seem to work best for everyone?
  18. Do you peg the weight at all or let it slide freely?

I agree, same thing. I never see any big deals at my Wally World either. Its a super Walmart here in the northwoods too. Lots of water around..I don't get it.
  20. I just purchased VMC Heavy Duty Swim-bait Hooks; 4/0 1/8oz. Would these work for the rage rig on the rage craw? I am excited to fish Rage Craws and try the Rage Rig.
  21. I don't see how this is crappy; especially if the price tags were mismatched. Now if an individual purposefully goes and swaps a lower priced tag out for a higher than yes that would be crappy/wrong...but its not the customers fault, if the workers in the store incorrectly priced items. Plus I think Wal-Mart will be fine in the end
  22. Does anyone have experience with the GSX Reel for this combo? GSX Elite Low-Profile Casting Reel: 11 ball bearing system, high-speed gear ratio of 7.3:1, Instant anti-reverse
  23. I have 3 set ups all ready to go(even though I have about 2 months to go). Black/Blue Swim Jig with Yamamotto Grub as trailer, SK Red Eye Lip-less Sexy Shad and Weight-less Senko; with 2/0 VMC Weedless Wacky Hook. Very excited to get out here this winter has been BRUTAL to say the least.
  24. I think I will be getting 50lb Power Pro; The combo is currently on back-order so not sure when I will even get to it. But I appreciate the suggestions.
  25. I picked up this combo from Gander's First Cast sale for $80. It will be my first dedicated frog set up and my first season using bait-casters. I was wondering line selection; Braid obviously but what lb test and brand for frogging do you prefer? Thanks http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=GSX-Elite-Low-Profile-Casting-Combo-7-Medium-Heavy&i=711343 Model # GSX-E70MHC-1 Rod Length 7' Rod Power Medium-Heavy Reel Gear Ratio 7.3:1 Bearings 11
