  1. I won a pack of these on eBay for $2.50 plus free shipping. I was wondering if anyone has used them and how they fished em. 6" size seems big for a trailer but I suppose you could cut 1" off. I got the black color.
  2. Thanks for the help. Learning the swim jig should keep me busy this spring/summer.
  3. I see the favorite color for jigs is blue/black with similar color trailer. I recenty purchased 1/4oz Outkas Jig Bold Gill. What would be a good trailer and trailer color for this jig? I read right after the spawn blue-gill color can be deadly, we have a lot of blue gill up here in WI.
  4. All types of jigs? Swim jigs, football, flipping and pitching? I have never really fished jigs before, so as soon as ice is gone around here I am getting into it.
  5. What is the correct size trailer for a 1/4oz swim jig? I see trailers/grubs ranging from 3"-5" as trailers. What works best for everyone?

I just ordered 1/4 oz Oukast Pro Swim Jig in Bold Gil color on Cabela's, they have free shipping right now. I will probably match it wil a Kalin's Grub or some sort of gil colored grub for starters. Any idea on size? I see 3",4", or 5" not sure what would fit right on a 1/4oz swim jig.

Appreciate the help. I have been reading a ton about it to cure cabin fever. Just thought I would see if my setup would work.

I too will be trying to fish a Swim Jig this spring and had a few questions. My only bait-cast set up is 6'6" M Fast Action St Croix with a Plfeuger 6:4:1 -Will this setup work for throwing 1/4oz swim jig with Net Bait Paca trailer, Havoc Pit Boss or Kalin's Grub 4"? -What size line would you recommend? -Any basic tips for beginners? I read on other articles to not over think/work the bait. Thanks for the help.
  9. Nice. What are you using to peg your sinker and what size bullet weight is that?
  10. I have 7' Medium Vendetta; Lew's Lews Speed Spin(cheaper reel but no problems thus far). What line would you recommend,. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  11. Is it absolutely necessary to use a baitcast reel? I a spinning setup will work what kind of line would you put on there? I have a braid spool for my Lew's spinning reel. I have already picked up Snag Proof Bleeding Frog and Spro Bronzeye spring/summer cannot come soon enough. Just started frog fishing towards end of the summer and had a blast.
  12. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will go with Berkley Mono to start learning. Has anyone tried the Berkley Solutuons Mono its $5.99 17lb test at Gander. It says its made for casting.
  13. I have asked a smilar question before without much success. I am new to using baitcasting setup; by new I mean I have maybe cast it 10 times, the reel is a Pfleuger Trion 3LP and the rod it is paired with is St Croix Triumph 6'6" Medium, What would be the best line to start with? Type(mono, braid, flouro), lb Test and Brand. A line that I can have success with casting and limit my backlashes and ultimately help me gain confidence in using a baitcasting combo? Obviously there will still be operator errors on my part...just trying to have a better head start when I get out there next spring. Bonus question, I have $25 gift card to Gander Mountain; would you guys stick with Pfleuger(i dont think anything wrong with it mechanically) or maybe go spend $100/$125 on a new reel? Thanks in advance
  14. What size(weight) jig are you using when pitching? I am new to this.
  15. My dad has a 17' bass tracker; it needs new carpet. I was wondering how much (in general) it would cost to have a boat dealer recarpet it? I am wondering the price of doing that versus time, effort, difficulty and cost of doing it myself. Thanks The boat looks similar to this
  16. Anyone ever used the Snag Proof Bleedin' Frog? I am about to win one on eBay. Thanks
  17. +1 I have St Croix and Abu Garcia great quality and affordable.
  18. Thanks for the help: - So which would you guys suggest then Lew's Laser MG Speed Spool ($79.99) or the Lew's Speed Spool($99.99) whats the big difference? What gear ratio recomended for Texas Rigging/Small Cranks?
  19. I think primarily I would use it for smaller cranks/Texas rigging. I am going to use my 7' MH Vendetta for frogging and bigger lures. So with that application for the 6'6" St Croix go well with the Lew's MG?
  20. Would you suggest braid for beginner bait-casting?
  21. I was thinking about getting Laser MG Speed Spool from Gander. I am a beginner on bait-casters. What size Avid rod were you using? The only casting rod I have is 6'6" St Croix Triumph Medium Power...would this work? Any line suggestions for a beginner? Thanks in adance
  22. Thanks for all the advice/suggestions. Side question: if my 7' MH Abu Vendetta states: 8-14LB line, does that matter when putting on and using a 20/30lb PowerPro braided line? What exactly does that mean about the rod? My spinning reel has an extra spool for braided line. Also, do you need special guides when using braid, I am reading alot about the line getting frayed and losing lures that way?
  23. Do you use the braid for Texas Rigs/Senko fishing as well? If so, with or without leader? AND if you use a leader what type and how long do you typically tie on?
  24. No, that does help and does make sense. I was just wondering as I have never used them before maybe a more entry level bait before I go spend $50 plus dollars and possibly lose it to a pike or just dont like them. I appreactiate your suggestions.
