  1. Well for the poorman that cannot afford $50+ baits, would you suggest something like the Spro BBZ1 shad? Obviously not as life like but still same idea as the Mattlures..
  2. Mattlures are extremly expensive..how do you fish these? I was on there website, they do look very lifelike.
  3. I am assuming Flouro is stronger than Mono yet weaker than braid? Upsides of flouro over mono?
  4. On a side note, my Lew's came with a braid spool; would I need to use a mono backing? Its rated for 20/30/40 lb test.
  5. How exactly does the flourocarbon leader work and why is it necessary? In reading other threads on briad I see alot of people use the FC leaders. Again, I am a novice to all of this, recently switched from pan fishing to bass fishing this summer.
  6. I have virtually zero experince with braided line. I have 1 baitcaster and the rest of my rigs are spinning units. I plan on using my 7' MH Vendetta/Lew's Speed Spinning reel for frogging and other bass fishing. I have really only used Berkley XT 10/12 test in the past. I am wondering if braid will work for my set up; if so what lb test would you suggest and what brand? I would like to use this rig with senkos/texas rigging as well. What are the drawbacks with using braid? Thanks
  7. Hey Guys, I do not want to put my gear away quite yet, but it is starting to get cold up here in WI. Does anyone have any suggestions on some decent gloves for fishing so my hands dont freeze? I dont want to spend a fortune, typically I shop at Gander Mountain, Wal-Mart, and Blains Farm and Fleet for fishing stuff. Thanks in advance
  8. I was thinking about getting Spro Bronzeye Frog&Shad: What do you guys think is ideal set up for frogging? Only baitcast reel I have is on a 6'6" medium ST Croix....I guess what type Rod/Reel/Line (generally speaking) would you suggest in using Bronzeyes? Thanks
  9. I will have to get some ziplocs and give this a try. Sounds like an efficent way to store soft plastics. What about your hooks/weights how do those get stored? Ha
  10. Did you dump the baits out of their original packaging into these gallon bags? I have to fish from shore for lack of a boat, so I would like an easier way to story my soft plastics. I have about 25-30 bags of plastics; swimbaits, creatures, senkos that all need to be organized differently. Not enough room to compete with my hardbaits/spinners. Does it matter; mixing brands, scents, sizes etc? For example are you pairing Senko style baits with regular plastic worms (berkley powerbait) all in the same ZipLock?
  11. I didn't know what to expect I bought the Perl White Silver Fleck(that was only color I could find) While casting from shore I have caught 3 largemouth and 2 northern with them, you can cast them far even weightless. Let me know how you do with em.
  12. Hey Guys, Recently started fishing soft plastic swimbaits; I have had some success on Berkley Havoc Grass Pig; I have just been rigging it weightless with EWG 3/0 hook. I picked up some YUM Houdini Shad and will probably get some Money Minnows or Lil Suzees; I am wondering how you guys fish them: Weightless? Swimbait hook weighted/non weighted? What size hook, I have seen videos where guys say 5/0 hooks...that seems a little large. Either way if you guys could give me tips on rigging and fishing them I would appreciate it. Thanks
  13. Net Bait Paca Craw; look strange but have awesome action in the water
  14. Just out of curiousity...why are the hard swimbaits so expensive?
  15. Are you fishing this bait weightless? What size hook.
  16. I just got some Paca Craws and will be trying them this weekend. What size hook do you use them on? Do you ever throw them weightless?
  17. I just started fishing Texas Rigged Plastics this summer, I am forever hooked on bass fishing. I am learning new stuff everytime out and its awesome.
  18. Looks like strike king caffeine shad has good reviews and most people including KVD fish them weightless. What size hook would you guys suggest, I think they are 5" long, I will be getting some tomorrow.
  19. Thanks for all the help. I am excited for trying out swimbaits.
  20. What rubber bobber stops do you use? Where do you get them from? Thanks
  21. Sounds good, I am going to try and get some weighted hooks and give swimbaits a try. Do you cast and reel back? Is most of the action derived from the bait itself or do you need to create the action with your rod movement?
  22. Thanks, I have never tried pegging my sinker, I will give it a shot. What weighted hook would you suggest on a Gary Yamamoto Swimsenko 5"?
  23. Hi All: I need some help. I was wondering what everyones favorite weighted hooks are and how they use them? I currently fish berkley power worms, senkos, havoc pit boss, havoc craw fattys, and paca craws..would like to start using hollow body swimbaits as well. Whenever I use standard texas rig my bullet weight is getting hung up on almost every cast..looking for alternative rig. Wondering what size weighted hook people use, how the use them and what type they use. I see Gamakatsu makes an EWG weighted hook and also Mike Iconelli has one as well that looks pretty cool. Thanks for the help
  24. Sounds good, thanks for the help. Do you always used skirted jigs w/ weed guards for rigging your trailers? I have some shakey head screw lock jigs and I am thinking about getting weighted EWG Gamaktsu hooks, your thoughts on those?
  25. How do you rig the trailer on a skirted jig? I have Havoc Pit Boss, Craw Fatty, and Paca Craws...I have a few football skirted jigs.
