Rhode Island Fishing Spots
This is why you need to go to Burr's pond and jig! 6lbs maybe... not sure but she felt like a beast to reel in.

Rhode Island Fishing Spots
Sent ya a PM. The jig itself is one piece. The trailer (craw shaped) is a plastic bait you put on the jigs hook.

Rhode Island Fishing Spots
The entrance to Burr's is South East of the pond. It's a well hidden road that looks like it could be another driveway right off of 114A. Next to the small parking lot is the main bank where I have made all of my recent catches. There is also a trail on the East side of the pond that leads to a small bridge. I've heard bass can be found in that area as well but have only had luck with Bluegill and Crappie at that spot.

Rhode Island Fishing Spots
In just over a week I will be headed to Stump Pond as well. It's a bit more of a drive but is supposed to be good fishing. I will let you know how that goes.

Rhode Island Fishing Spots
I was having luck with crank baits but have switched to a black and blue jig with Rage Claw trailer. Jigging was a mystery at first but I caught a nice 6lb. LMB at Burrs followed by two 3-4 pounders on the same day! I ventured over to the bikepath/pond just north of Slater Park last week. Looks like a bass sweet spot! But access was limited from the bank.

Caught My First Bass Ever Today!
Thanks for the comments guys and gals! Following my first catch I wasn't having much luck with crank baits. I decided to start reading up on Jigs and boy am I glad I did! I headed out today with my new jigs and trailers to give it a try. The day started out disappointing and I kept thinking to myself that I was doing something wrong. I whipped out my cell phone to pull up bassresource.com to review my technique. I still had no luck. So I headed off to the pond where I caught my first LMB and stuck with the technique I had just read about... Moments later I had a bite but totally missed the hook set! The next cast I had a fish on. About a foot from shore I lost her. That d**n hook set thing again! A couple more tries and an epic hook set later and I had landed my second bass ever (I will stop counting soon, I promise ). I'll guesstimate 5-6lbs. 10-15 minutes later and I had another in the 3-4 lb range. I think I'll stick with this jiggin' thing!

Asking Other Fishermen
I fish fresh and saltwater off a local bike path. I'm approached quite often. I don't mind chatting at all. Fellow fishermen make for the best conversations and its a great way to get a local fishing report. I find as I fish more frequently that I'm not so shy about approaching others. I love finding out how others are doing, gaining some insight and making new fishing friends!

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
I've yet to read my way through this entire thread so I will just ask here... Any of you guys catching bass in the Seekonk area? If so where have you had luck?

Rhode Island Fishing Spots
Just wanted to add that Burrs pond fishing hasn't been so hot. I'm sure it will improve with the temperature cooling down this week. However I am hesitant to go at all. For the past three days when I have shown up to fish there has been a creepy fellow parked by the bank in a mini van. He just sits there with his door open starting straight ahead. The weird vibe is getting to be a bit much for me. Lol

First Decent Bass
Nice job! It's a great feeling when you finally reel in a nice sized fish!

Too Many, Too Big
I hope you get healed up in time! I've gotta say that hauling in big stripers is at least a good back story for tendonitis.

Fall Bass Fishing???
I've read crankbaits can be good in the fall? I'll have to try some spinners this fall. I don't have too much experience with them.

When Is The Last Time You Invited Someone Fishing ?
I agree! To me the silence is anything but awkward though. Relaxing is more like it.

When Is The Last Time You Invited Someone Fishing ?
I don't mind fishing alone but my girlfriend frequently tags along. In turn she has caught the bug. This Tuesday I'm bringing my best buddy with me. He has not fished since he was a kid. He maintains that he is not all that interested. I think if he hooks a nice bass his tune will change! If he does catch anything I will be sure to snap a picture as proof of his enjoyment!

Rhode Island Fishing Spots
I'm in EP myself. I frequent Burr's Pond in Seekonk. I just pulled my first LMB out of there from the bank. Brickyard is a nice spot as well. Haven't had luck with LMB there but I know they're around. Olney Pond in Lincoln Woods is supposed to hold some big bass but I haven't found them there yet either. PM me if you want to talk local spots. I'm in the same boat as you, fished a lot when younger and just getting a bit more serious about it now.

Caught My First Bass Ever Today!
Thanks everyone! I kept my self interested between bass hunting by fishing trout and crappie that I knew I could find. At least I was catching some kind of fish to bring me back to the ponds every couple of days. Persistence paid off. I am most definitely addicted!

Caught My First Bass Ever Today!
I've had a summer of failed attempts at bass fishing and am still very new to it. Today I decided to hit a local pond before work and it paid off! I caught this guy on a Bomber crankbait that I picked up recently. I'm not sure how large it was but I'd guess 2-3 lbs? It matters not though. I'm hoping this is at least a start to a fall fishing season full of bass!

Newb From Rhode Island
Greetings all! My name is Josh. I'm from Rhode Island and I am addicted to fishing! I have been fishing on and off for all of my 29 years but never to the degree I have been for the past year. It helps that my girlfriend has come along for the ride with me. Our free time thus far this summer has consisted mostly of wading out in local ponds. I've mastered trout fishing and accidentally mastered bluegill fishing as a side effect. My experience with bass has been slim to none. So I am hoping to absorb some of the collected knowledge here. Maybe I will have some catches to show for it this fall. Tight lines!
