  1. I was in a tackle store yesterday and saw a few new colors from Zoom I had never seen : Arkansas Shad - Looks like tan albino with silver sparkle . Pro Blue Red Pearl - Depending on the light , this color can look like three different colors. Watermelon Pro Blue - Another new color that appears to change colors depending on the light .
  2. OP here - I should have noted I'm fishing for large mouth and spotted bass in clear to slightly stained reservoirs.
  3. Looking to move beyond the basic : White Pearl & Watermelon Super Fluke colors ... Anyone had luck with : Electric Shad , Blue Gill Flash or Houdini , etc. colors in a super fluke ? These are a few newer colors which I thought might show promise - thanks in advance for your experiences .
  4. Cool replies ! ... Certainly worthy enough for an experienced fisherman to want to try / re visit .
  5. As the title states - what is your favorite "Do Nothing" soft plastic rig you could hand to someone 9 to 90 and have success with ? ...By "do nothing" I'm talking about casting out the soft plastic rig and at most just giving one or two simple twitches of the rod - mostly just casting and reeling it in . I'll start first : Zoom Super Fluke nose hooked with a 1/0 finesse wide gap wacky hook .
  6. Makes you wonder if UPS turns apes loose in their package holding area ? Those tubes look like some one went out of their way to cause damage ... How does a UPS driver in good conscience take tubes looking like that to someone's doorstep ?
  7. The Maxima UltraGreen Mono line appears kind of interesting with it's ability to blend into water color - any users here with experience on spinning & bait casters ?
  8. I like small sheet metal screws which weigh from 1/16th oz. to 1/8th oz. in approx. 1/2 inch length for trick worms or senkos .
  9. Here is what I find about ordering BPS Stik-O stick worms that I dislike : Without fail I always find at least two stick worms where the color is off noticeably . Then I will find at least two that are deformed , came out of the mold wrong , etc. Essentially poor quality control - makes me wonder if they save these "misfits" for their mail order customers ? At any rate , with GYB Senko and Yum Dinger the QC is certainly better with GYB Senko being the best . I do however wish to try the Gambler Ace worms as I research where they are quite good as well .
  10. Here is the correct Seibert link for his version of the Ned Rig jig head (morel) : http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Morel-Jig-Head-1022.htm . *Best all - around Ned jig head hook size is a #2 ; I also use a #4 but have not used a #1 size (although I'm sure it would work fine on the 1/8th oz. version morel) ... **Mike , what size is the hook in the morel jig head ?
  11. I hate working a twitch bait / popper on a spinning outfit ... I would be more inclined now to use #20 lb. braid with a #10 lb. FC leader for jerk baits and same braid with #10 lb. mono for top water (both on bait casting gear) and call it a day . All of my top water and jerk baits are less than $15.00 ea. so not too drastically upset if I broke off say a Smithwick Rogue on a cast . Yes , breaking off a Whopper Plopper would hurt a bit more for sure ...
  12. If I could only have one : Zoom Trick Worm in Green Pumpkin color.
  13. Also check out the Owner Ultra series round jig head - quality materials but a little pricey .
  14. Yes , I have a 7' and a 7'6" MH rod however none are not rated for 2+ oz. which has kept me from considering the 130 size . Now if you are saying you can discard the rod's max rating and throw the 130 size any way then that's a different story and may open up myself and others to consider the 130 size .
  15. I keep waiting for the H2O Mettle bait cast reel to go on clearance with at least a $10.00 off sale price ... It's been a long time since this specific reel was even on sale . Once the "new" version came out with a higher price tag - it never goes on sale now !
  16. I bought the 90 size due to the more manageable weight / size for spotted bass ... The 130 is a large , heavy bait and I do not own a rod that can handle the 2.5 oz 130 size .
  17. Curious how many have tried or use a hard jerk bait with say #20lb. braid with a #8lb. FC leader ? I already have a top water set up using #20lb. braid + #12 lb. mono and by simply switching to a FC leader I am thinking the set up could double my top water set up for a hard jerk bait application . The only unknown is jerking on slack line comprised of braid + FC versus using straight FC , co-poly or mono as a mainline ... Your thoughts and experiences ?
  18. Japanese Elite Pro likes Green Pumpkin before the spawn and Red post spawn on Ned Rig mushroom heads - says he gets more bites this way ...
  19. For a jig trailer , I see the Yamamoto Twin Tail Grub referenced at least twice as much as any other twin tail grub on the market - what are the chief reasons why ? ... There appear to be a number of other twin tail grub makers - mainly: Big Bite Bait , Chompers , V&M , Zoom , etc. who make good twin tail grubs in popular trailer colors (GP , Black & Blue , etc.) at half the price of Yamamoto twin tail grubs so again , why choose a Yamamoto twin tail grub ? Thanks in advance for replies ! P.S. I have no lack of love for Yamamoto soft plastics , for instance I do believe an original Senko still has the best action and fall rate of any stick bait I have tried .
  20. Thanks for the replies - special shout out to ww2Farmer , Glenn and others for the time & effort !
  21. After watching Glenn's video (very good) I find my needs gravitating towards a flick shake / wacky jig to use with stick worms and the like . Perhaps a close relative to the wacky drop shot but I believe I can cover a bit more water with a wacky jig plus stick worm after searching more about the technique.
  22. Try the Flukes on a Gama round bend offset hook (4/0) instead of the more popular Gama EWG (5/0)... I think you will like the better action and hookup ratio .
  23. Thanks for the replies - the wacky jig head is something I will try (less rigging) .
