Regarding the scrounger for those with experience : What differences in action (i.e. wider vs. tighter wobble) , retrieve speed , etc. can one expect between using the long bill version scrounger vs. the medium bill scrounger with a standard Zoom Fluke trailer ? Thanks in advance ...

Shad colors this time of the year for spinnerbaits / chatterbaits ; then for football jigs it's craw colors or a variation off of green pumpkin .

The "Bubba Shot" or power fishing a drop shot on a MH 7'3" bait cast rod + a 7:1 bait cast reel with #20 lb. FC line , a stout 4/0 flipping hook or EWG hook with a larger creature style bait or large soft plastic minnow / fluke , or paddle tail swim bait can be very effective ... I'm sure there are Bubba Shot specialists in Florida or the Cali Delta who have forgotten more than I'll ever know about the technique !

For those that use football jigs , swim jigs , vibrating bladed jigs and spinnerbaits - what are some favorite skirt patterns you are currently having success with at the moment ? ... I have various jigs and spinner baits that need skirt replacements thus I am looking for some new skirt pattern inspiration - thanks in advance !

I suppose water temp more often than not equate to aggressiveness of bass (i.e. metabolism) ... Might have been better of me to ask which trailers you prefer based on low / high aggressiveness of bass on that particular day of fishing .

For say a football jig or flipping jig - what approx. water temp do you decide to switch from a trailer with action (i.e. rage tail / twin tail grub) to a chunk style trailer with less or more subdued action ?

Saliva or small water bottle would get it done - KVD line conditioner if you don't mind the $$ over saliva or water .

+1 ... While I like and use Zoom - they are late to the sick worm party ... I don't see anything so remarkable with the Zlinky that would make me want to rush to buy them over say a Yum Dinger (lower price) or the original Senko or newcomer General (higher price) .

TW has pre-rigged ones for sale which are good ; Timmy Horton brought the technique to the public via a stick bait + tail spinner (although he didn't invent it - he just made it more popular) .

+1 ... I have the same bait casting rod in the Allstar Nano series that is a 6' M/F rod that allows the straight down rod snap to work the top water lure .

I found #24 & #26 gauge copper craft wire from Michael's to try - they also have #22 gauge if I need it for bulkier / more than 50 strand skirts if I ever need it but I think either the #24 gauge or #26 gauge will be fine . Using approx. 3" of copper wire per jig will allow many jigs to be wire tied for just a few dollars ... *** A good jig vice under $20 would be nice to have - not sure if the fly tying vices are large enough or sturdy enough to hold a 1/4 oz. to 1/2 oz jig ?

The former Terminator T-1 was a highly regarded spinnerbait (now discontinued) with the new S-1 version taking it's place : Has anybody tried the new version S-1 ? If not , what is your current favorite spinnerbait you are using ?

*Thanks Allen & Fishing In Trees - I'll have to check on the wire I bought from WM to see if it is coated ? Most hand tied jigs I have seen use copper wire around #22 AWG or #24 AWG I believe ?

I have a number of jigs and spinner baits with rubber skirt bands - can I use #22 or #24 craft wire and tie over the skirt band to aid in support and longevity of the skirt band ?

Wild Card : *Have a rod deemed too stiff for the application ? Use Mono / Co-Poly line. *Have a rod deemed too soft for the application ? Use Braid . Make the line stretch (mono - co-poly) or the lack of line stretch (braid) work for you . FC line is a sinking "tweener" line - add to the above as required ...

Thanks Team9nine - good to know ! *I plan on looking into the YGK but have a couple of questions : 1) . For the Ned Rig I was thinking the #10 lb. line size would be ideal and for the Shakey Head the #14 lb. size would be ideal as mainlines . I possibly could use one line size for both but my Ned Rigs generally top out with 1/16th oz. jig head with a small TRD . My shakey head jig size goes up to 1/8th - 3/16th oz. and larger size soft plastic trick worms . Current Ned Rig is using PP #8 lb. while shakey head is PP #10 lb. - #15 lb. main line + FC leader of #6 lb. to #8 lb.

Interesting - I just found that Sufix 832 comes in a # 6 lb. hi - viz yellow (.006 diameter which is the same as Power Pro #10 lb. braid) . A little thicker I believe to allow for the internal strand of Gortex ...

*That's the plan - Ned Rig and Shakey Head set ups used on the bottom to reduce the bow in floating braid .

*Looking for a neutral or sinking hi - viz braid to use with bottom applications (i.e. Shakey Head or Ned Rig) and a FC leader? ... Besides the Sunline SX1 braid , has any other manufacturer come out with a neutral or sinking braid for bottom applications in the #8lb. to #15 lb. test range ? Trying to remove the tendency to get a bow in the line fishing deeper using the #8 lb. ~ #15 lb. floating braids from Power Pro , Sufix , etc. Thanks in advance !
