  1. I don't want to steal the thread but recently I met a wonderful lady from Cashtown. I'm from Pittsburgh. Since she knows I like to bass fish she took me to Codorus last weekend. I did a little bit of fishing from shore where they rent the canoes. I didn't have much luck. I was wondering where some good starting points would be. I do have a small boat, 14ft. v-hull, 71/2 hp. Is it a limited hp power lake? Any help would be great. Bob
  2. I have a LTA 7ft mh. I love it. My favorite out of all the others I own. St Croix, Loomis, Powell Max, Ouan. Pro. When I first started bass fishing I read all I could about rods. Was down to Kistler and Loomis. My local fishing shop was selling their Kistler's at 25%off so I got the LTA. Now that I have a dozen different rods I must say that the Kistler is the most sensative and the best casting. I also have have the Mag. frog rod which I also like. The only rod I think I need is a deep cranking rod. I haven't decided yet what brand to get.
  3. Has anyone purchased or held one of the new Nitro rods? I was thinking of trying the 7'6" ju rod. Any info, pro or con.
  4. LCM, the manager of the West Mifflin Gan. can order anything as long as Gander MT. sells the item and if it is in the system. She told me I would have to pay shipping.
  5. I live close to Tackle Unlimited. I bought a Kistler from them for 25% off. He no longer sells them. His gloomis choice is not very good. Most of his baits run 1 to 2 dollars more than elsewhere. You have to catch his in store sells. I've never purchased a reel from them. I do stop in once in a while and will buy a few items. I know what you mean about his attitude. The younger guys are ok though.
  6. I usually spend my vacation at Pymy. I have a cabin next to Tuttles. Care to share any spots?
  7. Keep a marker bouy handy. Just drop it in right where the rod went in and you have a great idea where to drag for it.
  8. Awhile ago BPS called me to ask about a few charges on my card. They weren't mine and they cancled my card and issued me a new card. Funny thing was neither charge was for more than 2 dollars.
  9. Jimzee I have a LTA 7ft mh. I love this rod. I also use Airrus, Powell Max, St Croix Legend Tourn., Quantum Pro Tour, St Croix Premire. The LTA is just a joy to use. How does the LTX compare to the LTA?
  10. Kistler LTA casting 25% off brand new local fishing store two Curados for $25 when Wal Mart let them go, one for $55 and one for $65 Legend Tournament casting 1/2 off Gander MT. Two Arris rods casting brand new $55 each Cabalas Cloth rod bag, carries 8 rood/reels for $5 Gander MT. $39 reg price. Revo Premier $199 Bait N Hook Tons of plastics, lures, line for big discounts I'm always stopping and looking for deals.
  11. Can you belong to two possees'? I started with Shamano and now have some Revo's. Now I don't know if I should get a Core or a Primiere. Going to use it mainly for topwater baits, walk the dog, wake, etc. I like both brands equally.
  12. Thanks for the replys. Merry Christmas.
  13. Would like to know if anyone pours their own frogs? If so I would like to buy some from you. Please let me know. Thanks.
  14. If I am on vacation at my cabin or for the weekend I'll go out around 6 AM and stay out till around 5 or 6 PM. On the lakes around where I live it depends on if I am not working that day. Then it is usually from 6 AM till about 3 PM or a couple of hours in the evening. Bob
  15. Breaking the law results in the offender paying the penalty if caught. Losing fishing privliges for one offense is like shooting yourself in the foot. The tickiting officer should be able to write a license on the spot. That is after a fine is paid. Or give the offender the choice. They still have to write anyway. One fall a buddy and I were going up to Erie for salmon. That is about a 140 mile trip for me. The place where we were going fishing was gated and had to be opened by a fishing warden. I forgot my license and explained the situation to the officer. He told me to go ahead and fish but stay in the area as he would come back later to check us. Some times it pays to do the honest thing. Bob
  16. That sound of my buzzbait plopping in the water and the chirpping it makes as it is reeled back to the boat. Better yet the sound of a big one smacking it off the water. At first light fishing close to shore and hearing some deer breaking the silence coming to the waters edge. Watching an eagle soar overhead and hearing their call. Something I sadly miss is my dads' voice telling me to watch my bobber go under. Bob
  17. I used to always like some buds with me when I walleye fished. Now that I am obsessed with bass I like to go alone. No one that I fish with wants to spend over 12 hours fishing. That is mainly on days off and vacation. Once in awhile I will share my boat with my girlfriends son and son in law. They are both pretty good companions. They do pretty good too so I don't feel bad catching fish when they are with me. If someone wants to go they know my routine and have to abide with my times and boat placement. I have a 14 ft boat and carry about 8 or 9 rods and 3 tackle boxes so there isn't too much room for anyone else. lol Time goes quickly enough and moving the boat to get a bait retrieved from a bush or something takes time. Not saying that I don't do it but when one or two other guys get stuck it wastes my fishing time. Maybe if that perfect buddy who doesn't mind the back of the boat and can put in as many hours as me comes along I'll change my mind. Bob
  18. I fished the Monongahelia river today south of Pittsburgh. I caught two 1 lb. smallies on spinnerbaits. Tried cranks and a topwater chug bait with no hits. The river was high and fast. One hit along the bank almost as soon as the spinner hit the water. The other hit yo yoing the spinner back to shore. The water was moving very fast due to recent rains. The barge traffic was heavy also making it difficult to fish. Tried white and chart. spinnerbaits. The fish came on chart skirt with gold and silver blades. The weather is going to be stable for about four more days so I will be trying some more top water baits. Bob
  19. hello everyone. New member here. I live south of Pittsburgh. I took up bass fishing a couple of years ago and can't get enough. I fish mainly Pymatuning. I have been going up there since I was a kid. That was back in the fifties. I gave up walleye fishing since I got hooked on bass. I fished a few other lakes here in southwest Pa but I want to try Arthur and the Shenango and a few others up north. I used to live in Baden till 1963 and I remember my dad taking me to some strip pits way back then. I cannot remember exactly where there were but going up through Conway somewhere. If anyone can turn me on to their location I would appreciate it. As you can see my handle is topwaterbob and i love froggin amd buzzin. I have a cabin at Pymatuning and can't wait for the pads to emerge. So if anyone wants to share some good topwater spots let me know. Thanks. Bob
