  1. I have a maxxum 70 on my rig and would have jumped at that craiglist listing! They are solid motors. The mount is maybe the best trolling motor mount of them all. If my maxxum ever does break down, I'll be getting another one.
  2. 1/4 and 3/8 oz spinnerbaits, senkos, and rage tails have been productive for me in the past 2 weeks
  3. Maybe you missed the first sentence of my post, the one telling the OP that I had to adjust to clear water and these were some of those adjustments. I don't see how you are considering that making a rule, or why you would even give a sh!t. Rattles have also worked for me in clear, but silent works better. For me. Good night.
  4. I live on a lake exactly like the one you describe. You can see the bottom clearly at 16-18' depth. It was an adjustment from what I was used to, well more like lots of adjustments. Wind is your friend, it chops the surface up distorting what they can see a bit. Just like others have said, long casts. I use both spinning and baitcasters, primarily spooled with braid and a flouro leader, or all flouro. Pro Grade Trilene Fluoro in the 6 - 12# range is hard to beat. You can go all braid, but you gotta camo the leader part yourself for best results. Cut the head of a black permanent marker with a razor blade, then just run your line thru it for the first 10-15'. That's been good for me on my lake. Tackle changes so much, time of day, weather, time of year, etc.... I wont really get into that too much. Throw things you can throw far. Spinnerbaits. Weighted soft plastics. Jigs. I'll love topwater til I die, but on this lake it only works at night for me. LOL - I've caught more catfish on cranks on my clear water lake than bass, so I quit using them here. Still kill with them on other lakes, just not here... One more thing, be quiet! Use the silent version of lures, not the rattling ones. Hope all this helps
  5. If you can get down south a little bit more, to the kissimmee chain, i think you'll find it worth the trip. They pull 8, 10, 11 pounders out of there every single day. Pads for miles. Throw a dark 5" senko texas rigged and weightless, on 65# braid. That's my favorite place on Earth to fish. Hogs all day. Numbers my friends up north don't believe.
  6. Tomorrow's forecast looks amazing. I'm spending the the morning out there in my old boat. Then during the afternoon I'll be on land finishing up some work left to do on my new boat. Hopefully tomorrow night I'll get to fish out of my new (to me) bass boat. Then Sunday comes the wind and Monday the cold front. smh
  7. Worth noting, I didnt see any bait fish. hopefully that translates into lots of hungry bass hitting our lures. Last year at this time there were bait fish everywhere, and full bass are lazy unmotivated bass. lol
  8. Came home for lunch today, and went out for a quickie on the all electric lake I live on. the ice has been gone for a month or so, didnt think to read water temp but it felt cool. Really just wanted to try out some new gear. Read my electronics, saw a bunch of fish about 8' deep posted on a point. First cast was a dud but my second cast got hit almost on impact. That fired up the school, and you know the rest. I was using a spinnerbait on one rod and a flat bill spro crank in the light craw pattern on the other. kept alternating, kept catching for about 20 minutes. noticed fish have moved up into shallow waters as well as 15-20'. Best lunch break I've had in a long time!
  9. Spent the last 2 days on Kissimmee and Hatchineha. Both mornings the lily fields on the NE side of Hatch were dynamite. The wind was coming out of the E, so it just made sense to try. Senko worked like magic, not on the fall, but the first tap tap tap. Flukes were money working the top. My buddy did decent working a frog slowly across the top. Wind was an issue In the afternoons. First day headed to channel and creek mouths for calmer water. Good bite, but random, nothing like the morning bite. Second day hit the NE side of Kissimmee and worked the hydrilla and bulrush covers. Slower bite, but pulled some pigs out of that spot with spinnerbaits. The strike king midnight black blue tour grade with the single colorado blade lit it up for me. It was my first time on these waters, and my buddies and I had a blast. If I had to pick one over the other, definitely Hatchineha.
