  1. Thanks Tom, barely made it down that Lehigh River with a touring kayak when they were letting it flow. The two of us fishin fools decided we didn't need life jackets.Bad idea.
  2. And home it is! Thank you
  3. I am from Pa,been fishing for thirty years or so,I fish Green Lane, and lake Nockamixon.,Blue Marsh and Beltsville. Looking for fishing friends and learning more and more about bass fishing. Thanks Troy
  4. Try a shaky head with a small worm, pointed tail, green pumpkin and or dead sticking, bass may be spooky but they are also very curious and usually return to the same areas.Sometimes doing nothing with your worm for an extended time gets them to focus on it and not you so much.they have a poor memory so after 15 minutes or so with little movement by you, they tend to relax and go about their normal routines. The shaky head approach seems to always get those tough biters.Maybe a little scent on the worm too to keep them interested. Also line size can be a factor.(can also try flourocarbon leader).I have also noticed on my home lake that water clarity can be deceiving. It may appear clear or dirty on top and change in the depths below because of algae or stratification (the fall turnover).
  5. Im not a tool and die guy.As a matter a fact I held the spool in one hand and drilled with the other. A couple of times I lost hold and it went spinning.I did followed the pre drilled partial holes that were in the spool. Then I just added my own in between. The spool I used does not have holes drilled through but has perforations of where holes would be.I drilled these through, added holes in between, as evenly as I could. The holes were not all that pretty but as similar as possible. The spool and the reel have shown no adverse effects from the drilling. The reel cast better with less force needed. Also seems to resist backlashing with the tension break just tight enough so there is no play in spool.(using two centrifugal break shoes)(no magnetics) As for line capacity I agree more line, more weight. And the larger capacity spool I have does seem heavier without line than the lower capacity spools.I will check out the site you posted thank ya.
  6. Yes , I have been reading about it. I appreciate all the info i can get.Thank you.I polished my drag washers.Never thought of it before reading it here.Havent gone as far as a full supertuning though.
  7. Yes i was wondering about that.Yes I really did and I am lucky it worked out.Would like to be able to get reels super tuned at DVT. Kinda part of the enjoyment is experimenting. It worked out well for me but Im not recommending it.The reel now casts with the tension break at its minimum and practically never backlashes.
  8. Wandering if anyone drills there own holes in baitcasting spools or opened up the holes aready in spool to lower weight.I took a bps Rick Clunn reel without holes that casted so so and drilled the heck out of it it now cast better than my more expensive reels.Wanted to get some opinions on it , thinking about hitting the other reels. And if anyone is familiar with any other reel modifications or cleaning and lubing practices that will enhance the ease of casting, please post.
  9. Sexy stuff. One day I will be a Shimano owner.
  10. Yes I appreciate the responses. So far I did push thumb bar down ,that worked a little, then I took it apart and cleaned up excess grease. Seems to be good now. If it happens again i will send back, looks inexpensive enough. The reel otherwise works well.I have been using Ardent reel lube on the bearings.Does anyone know if this is the best way to handle them. Seems to work well, just looking to optimize easy casting. The reel came with some clear oil or lube , not sure which it is but the Ardent reel butter has always been good to me although it lasts a shorter amount of time than say hot sauce which i like but dont have .Again just seeking opinions on the best oil, lube for this reel. Thanks again for all or any responses.I really enjoy this site and being able to get in depth info from anglers that use and enjoy the different gear and baitcasters in general.I have owned quite a few and always trying to get the most out of what I have now.
  11. was it just too much lube/grease?
  12. will do thank you very much
