  1. It wouldn't hurt to send them an email. The reel companies usually respond in a day or two. They can also direct you to a diagram link as well as a simple search will.I also know daiwas can be a little tricky when putting the spool back in. Make sure it goes together easily not forced.Grease on drags can also have an adverse effect if it's not the right kind. Better leaving dry(clean)
  2. Don't know if this will help but I recently was asked to look at a quantum for a friend. It was fairly new but for some reason he took it apart. I found that he had put it together wrong. The first drag washer was backwards. It looked like it should be the way he had it but it was backwards as per the reel diagram that came with the reel. It had similar symptoms to yours. You might want to carefully exam the reel while looking at a parts diagram. If you don't have one you can find it online. good luck.
  3. I agree its pricey. I used it years back and swore by it. Ardent seems good too I like their bearing lube.Seems to wear off quicker. The oil tends to leave a dark residue I think.(graphite). The hot sauce you need to be careful with over doing it.
  4. do you use their hot sauce or another oil or lube when you service them?
  5. I have been practice casting the Quantum Pt tour Edition and I like it so far. I think like most all reels it takes time with the reel to get comfortable with it and learn its quirks until it fits your casting hand like a glove and you have properly maintained it. The reel seems like a good reel for upgrading.Haven't noticed any quirks with it yet seems like a solid reel.
  6. I'm gonna have to fish Quantum more often to see how it goes. It usually ends with an unprovoked ,unannounced untimely backlash. The reels I usually use rarely have casting issues, other than user error. The quantum reels I began this post with talking about are their high end Kvd,Smoke and Tour edition. All over 200 bucks new. The Kvd is 3. I once owned the older Accurist It casted well. Last I saw it was on a shelf in my ex's attic coven with a birdsnest... I really miss that reel. Thank you all for your replies.Keep them coming if you need to vent! Tips tricks and pics are welcome.
  7. Nice, can you be more specific? Models, line, test ,rod, lures? What do you like about them anything you don't like?
  8. Yes I noticed there aren't any Quantum posts. Looking at there high end reels, they are very well made. You would think they were more popular and I was just wondering why ? I use abu and bps and daiwa right now.Like you said they all can have issues. I noticed the quantums don't go much for distance. They seem to be very durable but I'm not sure.
  9. Any thoughts on Quantum reels.A friend took apart his tour edition and put it together wrong. I found the first drag plate backwards. Works good now. They seem like the most solid built reels. Anyone have thoughts or reviews on their Quantums. My friend also has KVD's and the smoke they seem like great reels but can be a little finicky.I have had all three of them apart and they are really well made. Also it didn't seem to have their hot sauce on the bearings is that from factory? I always thought hot sauce was the &*^%.Anyone a Quantum monkey?
  10. I have two. A swimbait rod and an a rig rod.Very durable not the most sensitive but will last.
  11. cddan posted a gallery image in Largemouth Trophy Room
  12. how about the tatula type r they are 200 bucks and a little lighter 7.6oz.should be out soon
  13. Quantum has always been sketchy to me I have used several and they start out ok but they don't work well for me.I have used the Accurrist(older but good),Pt tour (older not so good),kvd($300)(ok but something not right.(friends reel),The smoke pretty good again its a friends a little fussy.May have been how it was taken care of.They build a strong reel but I'm gun shy now .
  14. Bps! Those pics are awesome! If you have any more they sure color up the post! Thank you goose for your detailed information.
  15. I'm pretty set on the Tatula.or maybe Shimano lol. Never owned a Shimano .Think I'll get the Tatula first.
  16. I would like to know how it performs for you. Lotta positive things so far.Any negatives?
  17. I saw the one by keepingitreel fishing if you mean that one it was very informative. They put some engineering into the magforce z thats for sure.A friend gave me an older daiwa, pretty beat up.I cleaned it and lubed it, still a little rough but for heavy lures that thing can bomb some led.Its the 89 dollar twichin bar style a little odd shaped but it just reminded me how Daiwa works.I had a TD-X I kinda lost, good real also.Used to cast all the line to the end.It didn't hold too much but cast all of it.12lb. line
  18. That's what I like about it also. The other style breaks can wear out.I don't believe magnetic can.Appreciate all your posts!
  19. Yea I do burn out the old spinnerbait sometimes. Some days I just throw the thing faster and faster.Compulsive fishing disorder.Doctor said I should relax and let him get more casts in.
  20. Thats all good.DVt,Brent1981,Sam,New2bc4bass,I enjoy the feedback. Kinda down to three.Lews,Shimano, and Daiwa.Daiwa in the lead though.Just a thought, that Tatula might be more balanced on a heavier rod ?Not sure most of my rigs are heavy.I have one light one(STX) it is nice over a long day.
