  1. Sorry for pulling this to the top of the board. I had a chance to play around with the new Code and the one thing I couldn't get past was the drag star. I think the points are way too sharp. The reel looks pretty aggressive but I had my concerns about adjusting the drag while fighting a fish. Not to mention it looks like Quantum is "borrowing" some design aspects of Japanese reels. At least I think it looks like a Daiwa.
  2. You can fish a lot of different baits with that set up. Smaller spinnerbaits, weightless worms etc. I think the cover you are fishing in and the action of the rod would be more of a factor than the rod itself. My fishing partner does 99% of his fishing with a 6'6" medium fast action rod and I think there are a bunch of people on here that would say of they could only carry one outfit it would be a 6'6" medium action due to its versatility.

If you admire a friend's gun and tell him so, he will probably let you try it out a few times. # 7. Guns function normally every day of the month. # 3. A gun doesn't ask , "Do these new grips make me look fat?" # 2. A gun doesn't mind if you go to sleep after you use it. 4. Man, that is horrible. I can't imagine how that family feels. I'm surprised a police officer would even shoot a snake. Not that I condone shooting snakes, but wouldn't a shotgun have been a more appropriate weapon?
  5. It must be the black and blue EVA, or Flechero's mojo, but my Flechero rod (with black and blue EVA) only catches big fish. Keith, more pictures coming if I can get my hands on them. Sorry I didn't mean to hijack the thread.
  6. If I commission someone to build me a rod it would be a custom right? If I fell and hit my head and decided to sell it, it would still be custom wouldn't it? Granted it was built to my spec's. I don't know why anyone would have a rod built for them and then sell it seems like a waste of money to me. As for the builders that sell their rods I agree with Reelmech.
  7. I was really hoping that they were going to produce a whole new reel with an old name and end up with a decent mid-priced reel.
  8. I've had my 150 for a few weeks now and I just love it. It is very comfortable. I hope you enjoy yours as well.
  9. Welcome to the forum, I have had a lot of Shimano spinning reels over the years but I am currently using a Quantum Kinetic. I like both companies and I think they both make good products. After fishing with the Kinetic for awhile I have to say I like the Symetre a little better. The bail system is nice on the Kinetic but there is a piece where the bail wire connects to the roller and I have had some issues with the line not making it to the roller and when the line gets hung up there you can't hardly turn the handle on the reel. I always close the bail by hand and try to check to make sure the line is on the roller. I would imagine the problem may be much more annoying for those that crank the bail shut. By the way I have had a Stradic as well and I like the Symetre better than that. But like Roadwarrior said it all comes down to personal preferences. Good luck.
  10. Just an FYI, Daiwa's website now lists the new 2007/2008 products. http://www.daiwa.com/
  11. I read Extreme1018's post about Power Pro line and he mentioned he has the new Tierra baitcaster. Has anyone else seen this reel yet? If so what was your impression of it? What is the price? I didn't think it would be out until the spring. If it is out there I would like to know who has them in stock. I have searched the web and have only found the spinning reels and rods.
  12. I'll let Keith expand on all of the technical questions, but it is spiral wrapped and the thread is black with blue accents. I took a close up of one of the guides but it was blurry.
  13. A close up of the no foregrip front. The transition from reel seat to blank is ultra smooth. It is the little things like this and the over all attention to detail that just blew me away. All that plus a fair price, great communication during the build and delivering the rod on schedule. (not to mention the quality of the build exceeding my expectations) are all reasons why I will be a regular customer of Flechero's. Thanks for letting me brag like a proud parent.
  14. Here is another shot. I am going to put a Tierra on this rod as soon as they are available, I think that will look pretty slick.
  15. I am not too sure how it happened, Flechero had a reel for sale in the Flea Market and one thing lead to another and I ended up ordering a rod to go with the reel. I have to say this turned out to be the best purchase I have made in a long time. This rod is incredible, the blank is an All Star, the hardware is Fuji and the craftsmanship and "cool" factor are 100% Flechero. The rod is perfectly balanced and feels very light in the hand. After about ten minutes I was so comfortable fishing with it it felt like an old favorite. I got the rod Friday and was able to fish with it Friday and Saturday and it handles all my favorite fishing techniques. The best part was catching a 3 or 4 pounder on a frog. Flechero, you are an artist. I am pretty picky and I have looked high and low trying to find anything and this build is flawless. I can't beleive that I am putting this in print, but this rod fits my fishing style to the point where I don't need another rod. This one will do it all. With that being said I need rods and reels like women need shoes and purses. So I think I will eventually have a locker full of Turkey Run Custom rods. I wanted to post some pictures and I haven't figured out how to do multiples in one post so sorry for the additional posts.
  16. If you aren't spending more than you have to spend you are in good shape. I only wish I would have put money into nice gear when I was your age.
  17. Welcome to the site, I'm with jasone on this one, I deal with a lot of customer service issues and if someone jumps down my throat I am going to play hardball right back. So I would like to know what you said to get such an agressive response from them. I think the fact that the rod was purchased at Wal Mart may have contributed to the pre-existing condition that caused the rod to fail. Wal-Marts around here don't have anything close to nice tackle, they used to have Fenwick and higher end Berkley stuff and they displayed them by hanging them with a metal hook through the tips from the ceiling. That rod was probably beat to death before you bought it. If it were me I would take it back to Wal-Mart. I wonder if Falcon has a low end import line they were selling, kind of like All Star's import.
  18. Welcome to the board, I'm pretty sure the Prodigy was a total redesign for 2007 so I don't know if you will get much useful feedback as far as longevity. The old Prodigy's received mixed reviews on the site, but the new one appears to be an Advantage in Cabela's clothes so it should last you a long time if you take care of it.
  19. I bought my wife a Diawa Procaster and it is really nice I checked Daiwa's website and they don't list the one I have but it is similar to the Goldcast and Silvercast. I have played around with it and I can pitch pretty far with it and it is a lot of fun skipping with it. It doesn't get a whole lot of use but we have never had any problems with it. I think I got it when it was on sale for $39.99 regularly $49.99 if I am not mistaken. Cabela's has the Silvercast for $30.00 and the Goldcast for $50.00, they have a Goldcast combo for $65.00-$70.00 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?id=cat400026&navAction=jump&navCount=1&parentId=cat20166&parentType=category&cmCat=MainCatcat20166 http://www.daiwa.com/Reel/spincast.aspx
  20. Cabela's has the Stradics on sale, they are about $20.00 off retail. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601360_TGP&id=0016681117195a&navCount=1&podId=0016681&parentId=cat601360&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=7IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601360&hasJS=true
  21. I think my total package weighs around 600lbs I doubt yours would weight much more than that. One thing about receiver hitches, if you don't already have one moving up a class might make accessories easier to find. I have a Class One on my wife's Explorer and trying to find an 1 1/4" 3" drop hitch has been a pain. Going to a 2" receiver would make things easier but you would need to make sure you didn't pull more than your car can handle and if you sold the car I would take it off. If you were going to have a shop install the receiver I don't know if they would give you any trouble about putting a bigger hitch on the car or not. I don't know if it would be a liabilty issue for them or not.
  22. A class one hitch is good up 2000 lb trailer weight. To check the tongue weight of your trailer put a bathroom scale one a milk crate or something and weight it, it will get you close. If memory serves your tongue weight shouldn't exceed 10% of the trailer weight. You will need to check the coupler on your trailer to see what size ball the trailer requires. Then before you buy your ball mount you need to determine the height you need. That website you listed should show you how to figure the right height. As a rough guide with your trailer level the bottom of your tongue should be close to level of the ball mount. If your trailer is too low or too high it isn't real safe and it can bind up on the launch ramp. I have a 14' boat and I pulled it on the bumper hitch of a Ranger with no problems except the bumper was too high and when I backed down the ramp the trailer tore up the bumper pad. As for the trailer it doesn't "care" what class receiver your car has (as long as the weight ratings work out for safety of course). Match the hitch to the trailer weight and the ball to the tongue specs and you will be good to go. You didn't say what kind of car you had, check the owners manual to make sure you can put a hitch on it as long as you don't have a tiny car you should be ok. I couldn't even feel my trailer behind my Ranger, now I have an F150 and I can't feel it or see it!

I hate to pull this to the top but... Was it the Mann's Ghost? http://www.mannsbait.com/search.asp
  24. I agree with MattStrykul, I think the Fireline is kind of stiff, if you want to stick with braid you might want to try Power Pro I have had good luck with the 30# on a spinning reel seems to be more limp.
